How can I deauthorize a computer I no longer have? I was trying to sign into my itunes on my computer and it said that it was already being used on 5 other computers and that I would have to deauthorize one of them before I could sign in. I don't have any of those computers anymore so what needs to be done?

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

I have authorized my itunes acount on 5 different computers, but of the 5 i can only access one. I just got a new computer and want to keep my itunes account on my old one and put it on my new one but cant because of the 5 computer limite. The problem is that the other 4 computers that i had authorized before are no longer functional, so how do i deauthorize them if i can even turn them on?

Hi all, I don't know if I'm posting in the right place or not, If I'm not then I'm sorry. How do you Deauthorize a Machine from your account, anybody know? what it is. When I set the account up to buy tracks from Itunes. I was using the same Laptop that I'm using now, Just a differnt hard drive as The old hard drive died on me. I never bought any tracks from Itunes so I didn't have any to lose. I couldn't deauthorize this laptop because I didn't know that the laptop was going to die on me. In went the new hard drive. re-installed windows xp pro & re-installed itunes 8.1 clicked on authorize this machine & it came up with 3 machines out of 5. it's the same Laptop on the account. how to I remove this laptop twice from the account is it possible cheers?, If i do remove 1 of the machines, will I lose the rights to play back the tracks that I've bought today?

You can't deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access to individually. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

i followed the directions to deauthorize one "fried" computer and one old Windows laptop i no longer use from my new MacBook Pro. When i go into iTunes on my new MacBook Pro, however, iTunes says i still have 5 authorized computers and i can't set up my music on my laptop using iTunes Match. I did not deauthorize all my computers because i still have an iphone and two ipads. Now that i've invoked deauthorize, what am i supposed to do for the next 12 months until i can deauthorize again?

You cannot, nor do you need to, until you reach the limit of 5. Once you reach 5, then you can deauthorize all, and then authorize the active computers.

Log in to iTunes, go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months) and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.
