It all depends on what I need to use the document for.
When I need to create a text document that I need to share at work I use OnLive Desktop. This gives me a Windows 7 Desktop with Office 2010 apps on it that I can connect to DropBox. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onlive-desktop/id490292278?mt=8 or CloudOn https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cloudon/id474025452?mt=8. You have to be connected to a FAST wifi network to use this option.

Connects to DropBox.

Connects to iCloud and you can open in Pages from DropBox.

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.

There are no Microsoft Word or Excel apps for the iPad, yet.
The Pages app, among a few others will open, write to and save Word docs. Numbers will do the same for Excel files.
First thing is to buy and download an app to work on these docs from the ap store. Then sync with your computer to have the apps on both your iPad and in your iTunes on your computer. Once this is done you can copy files to the Pages or Numbers section on your iTunes then sync with your iPad to have them copied to the iPad. Also, any Word or Excel files that you receive via email will also open in Pages and or Excel and can be saved to the list of files for those apps.

If the content is on an external drive, but your library knows where to find it, then it should all work. Connect your device, make some selections for what to put on it, and sync. If you are trying to get all the photos from an old phone to your new phone, you could sync the old phone which would create a backup containing your Camera Roll. Then connect the new phone and follow the prompts to register and name your new phone. You will then be given the choice of restoring data to your new phone from a backup of the old phone. This will replace any existing data on the new phone with the data from the backup so it's really the best option if the other phone is new.
Another option would be to connect the phone to your computer and import your photos to iPhoto or the My Pictures folder. Then you could sync the other phone and under the Photos tab in iTunes you could choose the folders/albums of pictures you want on the phone. They will not be in the Camera Roll, but they will be on the phone.
