How do you delete a Final Cut Pro X project?

I really want to get some memory back on my computer. I erased the file of the project off my computer and even erased my trash but it saill says that it has the same amount of storage. I restarted my computer but it still didnt work. Please help!

Either, select your project, go to File, delete project render files…
Or, to get rid of the whole project, move project to trash…
Then empty the trash.
Do the same with your Events…
Otherwise, run Omni Disk Sweeper (free) to find and delete large unused files…

  • How to rename folder in Final Cut Pro X project library?

How to rename folder in Final Cut Pro X project library? I can't double click on folder, when I right click it just gives options to erase. Can someone help?

I think you may have misunderstood - the question is regarding renaming a project "folder", not a project name.
Still, the accepted answer here makes no sense to me at all - it's about renaming an event. So we're all confused ;-)
BTW as of 10.0.5, I still cannot rename a project folder while background tasks are running - no clue is given that this is what's going on, second-clicking on the folder just (frustratingly) does nothing. When background tasks finish, it works again.

  • How can I convert my Final Cut Pro 5 projects to Final Cut Pro X using XML via 7 to X?

I have been using Final Cut Pro 5 for years and I was considering upgrading to FINAL CUT PRO X.  But I soon learned about the compatibility issues which leaves me with a bit of a dilemma.  Then I learned about 7 to X, which apparently can convert FCP7 projects via XML to FCPX.  That made me wonder if I can XML all my FCP 5 projects and have FCPX open them.  Is this possible?

Best to post this question in the FCPX forum.

  • How do you remove a final cut pro 7 license and re-enter it ?

I tried removing the FCP7 license to be able to re-enter it by removing the final cut file in this folder:
Library >Application Support> ProApps >Final Cut Studio System ID
but it didn't seem to work, is there a step I'm missing?
    thanks in advance!

Trash you preferences and delete that file again. If it fails I would move all files out of the proapps folder to desktop, then boot FCP, authorise and re-drag in any files that are missing.
Also make sure to not have any ProApps (Logic FCP etc) running while you do this.

  • How do you watch a Final cut pro movie on TV

Hi i'm new to FCP I have just put together a holiday movie using my Mac book pro and FCP ver. 10.1.3 using both stills and movie clips i'm struggling with the following can anyone help
I'm trying to save the movie on my portable Toshiba hard drive without any luck as i need to free up some space on my laptop as I have the movies i'd like to make I can then use the PHD with my desk top mac to hopefully watch the movie through my apple TV?
Is it possible to put the movie that i've put together in FCP onto a SDHC card and watch the movie from the card on my TV ?
Do I need to get any other software if so is it free ?
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated as I seem to be going round in circles!
    Thanks in advance Colin

From a quick search online it appears that you need to adhere strictly to some type of AVCHD structure on the SD card in order for the TV to play it. I don't have a similar device, so obviously I can't try it, but it doesn't seem like you can easily drag a few videos to your card and expect the TV to play it :-(
Hopefully the support at Panasonic can give you a clear answer.
I suppose that you need to export for "Apple Devices", and add the movie to your iTunes library, in order for it to be accessible through the Apple TV (again, this is from my general understanding of such things, I don't have an Apple TV either):

  • How Do you Rotoscope In Final Cut Pro?

I was wondering how to Rotoscope in FCP?
Could someone send me a link with detailed instructions or can someone explain to me how to do it?
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks,
    Sam

It's a painstaking process of finite and infinite amounts of work keyframing frame by frame with a garbage matte filter if you don't have other tools. Really don't do your effect doing rotoscoping with FCP, unless it can be very rough and still work for your project.
There are much better programs to do this with out there. Shake for starters. There's tracking controls coming in Motion 3 that will help here maybe... But rotoscoping isn't something you take lightly. It's really a pain to do. But has aspects of knitting I suppose... LOL...
Try using other techniques. Green screen is a ton easer on the editor if it's shot right. Couse this doesn't work for everyting I suppose. What are you trying to do?

I am having issues with this, too.  I currently have both the trial version and the purchased version, and I've done a lot of work in the trial that I MUST get access to, but it's not showing up in the paid version (contrary to what is stated above... that it shows up in the paid automatically).  I am worried that if I delete the trial all my days of work will be trashed.  It is critical that these files transfer...is it truly as simple as deleting the trial?  Why was that not said anywhere in the loading directions? Feeling truly frustrated!
What version is the trial? Is that a 10.0.*?
What version is the purchased version?

how using mp4 files on final cut pro x?

MPEG-4 is  delivery framework and should never be used in production. At the very leasgt you should optimize the media when you import it.

    Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.

  • I need to remove a rig/wires from my final cut pro 7 project.  Can Apple Motion 4 remove wires/rig?  Are there any rig removal plugins for final cut pro?   Thanks!

I need to remove a rig/wires from my final cut pro 7 project.  Can Apple Motion 4 remove them?  If not can anyone recomment any plugins for Final Cut Pro or Motion that can remove them.  Thanks!!

In Motion 5 there is a plugin from CoreMelt called "SliceX" that does this.  But I don't know anything in Motion 4 that will do it.  You may get more help posting in the appropriate "Final Cut Studio" section of this forum.

  • Export Final Cut Pro 7 project to open in FCP 6?

Is there any way to open a final cut pro 7 project in final cut 6?
We have a bunch of older Macs that won't run FCP7, but we use for training but our hope was to upgrade the newer machines to the new Final Cut Studio, but it would be great if we could create something on the newer machines, that we could transfer to the older ones.
We tried XML export, but it didn't look like it included filters and such, so we are wondering if there is any other way?

    Nope. no other way.

  • I am not able to share final cut pro x project to iTunes.  it continues to say waiting.

I have not been successful in sharing a final cut Pro X project to itunes.  It says waiting.   I can cancel it, of which I have canceled about ten submissions now, but each time it says waiting.  What am I doing wrong here?

I am not running a compressor.   I am running the 30 trial version of Final Cut Pro X.  I have created and finished a project.
I am running a brand new iMac with the latest OS version.    First I a highlight the project to share.  I assume just by clicking on it.   click share - apple devices - then i select for which machine, (imac) i want it to render it for-select add to itunes- and click share.
Then it opens up the share monitor shows the project in question and says waiting.  I can pause it, cancel it but I can not get it past waiting.  the time registry under the info selection says 0.00 minutes but still waiting..
I am selecting the project correctly?   I have made only one project.

  • How can I upgrade from Final Cut Pro X 10.0.4  to 10.0.7

I need to upgrade from Final Cut Pro X 10.0.4 to 10.0.7 but can not find how to do this. Can anybody help?
    Thanks.

You might do some web searching on "FCPx  torrent ".  I would think that if you have a legitimate copy of FCPx there would be no legal/moral issue with pulling down a 10.0.7 version via bittorrent, but I'm not a lawyer. And of course there are other issues relating to such software but as Tom implies, you can't get an older version from Apple so you'll have to find somebody, somewhere with a 10.0.7 copy that you can install.
