How do you disable iTunes helper?

The iTunesHelper.exe application seems to run constantly from startup (according to task manager), even when I've never even opened iTunes, how do you disable this?
I'm trying to make my computer run a little more effeciently. Thanks.

Open msconfig, go to startup tab and uncheck the checkbox for helper.
Is it causing problems? I complain about iTunes resources more than the services Apple wants running.

To prevent iTunes from opening automatically when you connect iPod to your
computer:
1 In iTunes, select iPod in the source list and click the Summary tab.
2 In the Options section, deselect “Open iTunes when this iPod is connected.”
3 Click Apply.
or as you connect iPod touch to your computer, press and hold Command-Option (on a Mac) or Shift-Control (on a PC) until you see iPod touch appear in the sidebar.
there is also an option in iTunes preferences to prevent ipod syncing automatically.

to the right by search library theres an arrow there click on it : it will show you what it is downloading , from there you can pause and select all and delete them but still will continue to download them if you tell itunes to check for downloads. that download engien is crazy i tell yeah.

Another Easier Alternative:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys in Windows (CMD + Option keys on a Mac). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes. The iPod will then appear in the iTunes source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto-sync and then you can release the keys. This action may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
You can then ‘right-click‘ on the iPod icon in iTunes’ source column and select iPod Options, then check the box that says “Manually manage songs and playlists”. You can now manage your library without losing any songs on the iPod.
Note: If connecting to a different computer than the ‘iPod’s Home Computer’, iTunes will ask you if you want to update your iPod and give you an opportunity to opt out. This will not happen if you connect to the ‘Home’ computer – iTunes will auto-sync without warning!. Best to know the difference.

When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so arearticularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:

Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.

I continue to have a pop saying that either the file in open somewhere in the serve- which it is not- and I cannot delete a particular pdf or edit it.
It's incredibly frustrating and in the end I end up having four files with different names because it won't let me edit the original file!!!!

How do you disable "digital optical output" so the red light in headphone jack goes off and I can use the internal speakers?

HI,
I have a red light in my headphone jack and I see "correct responses" listed as "when digital output is enabled speakers are disabled." That's all well and good but doens't really help. HOW do you disable the "digital output," get the red light to turn off and be able to hear through the speakers? What's the SOLUTION to the problem. Sorry, just a bit frustrated. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Allegedly this can occur if there is a contaminant in the headphone jack that makes the computer believe there is an optical connection there, so it shuts off the internal speakers.
Try inserting and removing a headphone plug repeatedly. This ought to dislodge the junk, and seems to have fixed the problem for others. Hope it helps!

When I set my iPad up and set iMessage up set it offered me the option to keep iMessage conversations running between the two devices, and i pressed yes. If your trying to just simply have it not show while navigating the OS during a call, then there is no option to disable it. If it's a problem where it's continuing to show after you disconnect a call it could be a fault in code that fails to run the script to terminate the banner need upon disconnect. I would restore the phone using itunes as a first troubleshooting step. Another avenue might be an issue with the phone failing to recognize the end of call signal from the carrier. In which case I would have the SIM card changed. Easy thing to do at your local carrier store.

The iPad doesn't have antivirus, so it won't be on there. If you are downloading the update via your computer's iTunes then how you disable you antivirus and firewall software will depend upon what the software is - Kaspersky, Norton, McAfee, ... ? If you know whose it is then somebody on here might have the same software and be able to tell you.
