How do you do a save as in OSX 10.8.5?
I have an iMac with Mountain Lion and there's no Save As feature. I use this all the time and it's frustrating to not have it available. is there a hack to get it back?
In applications like Pages hold down the Option key to activate the Save As option:

How do you create a save as default folder for MP3 files used Captivate text to audio voices files?
Hi Ed
Thank you for contacting me, however I already know how to save text to
audio files via timeline using the Export feature.
So my question was not entirely clear and I apologize for that. To explain
further, whenever I save a text to audio file, captivate takes me to a
default save as folder where I then have browse back to my production
folder where I am keeping all my Txt to Aud files. This is very tedious
process when you have alot of files to save. So my question was is there a
way to configure captivate so I can make my production folder the default
file for whenever I save a Txt to Audio file through Export feature that
the system automatically takes me to that production folder, and I am
spared the long tedious process of saving the file manually to the
prodcution folder I want.
I have copy the pathway to the production folder in the URL filed in the
Save As dialoge box and that workaround as cut the work down but I still
have to paste that URL field to point the file to the right folder. So it
would be nice if I could do everything automatically. Microsoft makes this
capability in their MS Office applications, so I was thinking Adobe might
do the same thing. Your help with this would be appreicated,
Thanks

How do you set default save file type
My Photoshop when I choose save as is choosing TIF as the default file type after opening a raw file. I want to choose PSD as the default. I cannot figure out how to change the setting to raw.
Hi, Unfortunately, Photoshop will chose a format that fits the minimal requirements of a file according to the absence/presence of layers.
You could go to the feedback website, http://feedback.photoshop.com and ask for a preference to set the default file type. -
After aquiring an image how do you convert or save it as an HDF file
I am using LV to acquire an image. Once I grab the image I need to save it as an HDF file so I can do some further analysis. Has anybody done this if so could you explain how to go about it?
There is a LabVIEW toolkit that will enable you to edit and save files stored in HDF (Hierachical Data Format) You might consider reading the following knowledgebase:

In order to save space in iCloud, the instructions recommend moving messages from iCloud to your Mac. They specifically state:
"In Mail, choose Mailbox > New Mailbox, choose On My Mac from the pop-up menu, then enter a name for the mailbox.
You don’t have to create a new mailbox if the On My Mac section of the sidebar already has a mailbox that you want to move iCloud email messages to."
The problem is that I can't find the "Mailbox" button or folder or drop down (or whatever it is). It doesn't say WHERE in Mail to find it.
Any suggestions?I think I have been interpreting the instructions incorrectly. I was going into iCloud Mail, NOT the Mail app. I didn't realize they were connected, and that iCloud mail messages could be saved to the regular Mail app, which I already know how to use.
Thanks for the response. I think I've got it now. -
Hi,
Basically I'm doing a course in which i need to import images on a document for evidence (in particular Cirque Du Soleil, yes it's a weird course!) I am using the develop menu tab and using the Inspect Element menu. Here i have found loads of images that are perfect for my evidence, but the images are all showing as PNG files. Whenever I try to save these they will only save as Documents and not images. How can I change this so I can save them as images and import them imto Pages.
Many Thanks
MasonHi @Shootist007
I knew PNG files were image files, that why i was confused when I saved them onto my Mac they were showing as Documents under file type. But i managed to do via Preview (opened it up in Preview then click and dragged to my document).
Thanks for your help -
How can you remove the Save button on a survey?
What options are there to remove the SAVE button from a SharePoint survey?
I need to remove this if possible, I was hoping it would be as simple as editing a form in the Survey list... but that is apparently not the case.
I need to supress the SAVE button as it confuses end users and we don't want any half completed surveys. Either it gets finished or not at all.
Can someone hopefully provide me with an nice simple solution? Or any solution at all :)
Thanks!Hi,
Save button on the surveys with multiple question or with branching logic enabled is an out of the box feature and it is by design.
If you want to remove the “save” button in a survey, I think you can use JavaScript to hide this button:
1. Open your site in SharePoint Designer.
2. Open your survey list newform.aspx page, in the code view, find this code “<asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderId="PlaceHolderMain" runat="server"> <table>……. </table> “add the JavaScript” </asp:Content>”, add JavaScript before the “</asp:Content>” tag:
<script>
var x=document.getElementsByTagName("input");
for (var i=0;i<x.length;i++)
if (x.item(i).type=="button"&&x.item(i).value=="Save")
{x.item(i).style.display = "none"};
</script>
After this, you will not see the “Save” button when create new survey response. You can also add this JavaScript in the editform.aspx page.
Hope it can help you.

How do you make the save & quit option come up
i want to save & quit option to come up when i quit firefox
Hi,
I just have the same problem and I found a solution in the forums but never the whole thing in one post, so I'll post it:
First as ToneE says
# Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference browser.tabs.warnOnClose, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
# Repeat this for these 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart and browser.showQuitWarning"
and second.
You need to set: Firefox/Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my home page".
and your favourite firefox pop up "Save and Quit" question will appear again.
If the last option is set on "Show my windows and tabs from last time" the browser want ask ou anything when you're closing it.

How do you stop Spotlight from indexing other OSX partition?
I have my harddrive partioned, on one partition is osx 10.8, on the other is osx 10.9. I'd like to stop Spotlight on 10.8 from indexing 10.9's partition. If 10.8 is booted and I set Spotlight to not index 10.9's "macintosh HD" via systemprefs/spotlight it has the unfortunate consequence of carring over, so when I boot into my 10.9 partition Spotlight won't be indexing - which is not what I want.
Anyone able to shed some light on this one?Unfortunately, when you add a drive in the Privacy field, a small file is created on that drive which tells Spotlight not to index it. So both 10.8 and 10.9 see that file and won't index, no matter which OS you did the Privacy change from. Also then, of course, if you remove the drive from Privacy, both will index it.
At least that's how it's worked for me. I haven't been able to get the same drive to behave differently for multiple startup partitions. -
How do you put Save as back in the File menu?
I know under File the "save as" is gone. I also know that if you push the option key it will show up under the File menu until you take your finger off the option key. What I want to know is how can you get the "save as" back under the file menu without pushing another key. I had someone tell me how to do it in Mavericks but I can't seem to remember how he told me to do it. I appreciate any help here!
I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro with Retina and running Yosemite.
ThanksYou can try this or do a Google search to find alternatives.

How do you save voice memos, and use them as ringtones or text tones?
From the Users Guide:
Syncing Voice Memos
iTunes syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPod touch to
your computer. This lets you listen to voice memos on your computer and provides a
backup if you delete them from iPod touch.
Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it
doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos
app until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPod touch, it isn’t deleted
from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from
iTunes, it is deleted from iPod touch the next time you sync with iTunes.
You can sync the iTunes Voice Memos playlist to the Music app on iPod touch using
the Music pane in iTunes.
Sync the Voice Memos playlist to iPod touch:
1 Connect iPod touch to your computer.
2 In iTunes, select iPod touch in the Devices list.
3 Select Music at the top of the screen.
4 Select the “Include voice memos” checkbox and click Apply.
Some users have had to create the Voice Memos playlist since it did not get automatically created.
