How do you downgrade to iTunes 7.5 (from 7.6)?

iTunes 7.6 is terrible! It won't install, and when it doesn, it won't open!
I tried filehippo, but when it went to install, it said that I have the newer version on my computer (even though I was uninstalled) and now I can't even downgrade! AND ontop of it all, I still have that problem that I listed in a previous topic! Somebody help!

When iTunes 7.6 installed on my PC, it made a backup of the library and saved it under "My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries." Change the name of the "iTunes Library.itl" file in your iTunes folder to something else, then copy the most recent library file in the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder to your iTunes folder and rename it "iTunes Library.itl"
7.6 seems to be quite a turd. I haven't had any problems since downgrading to 7.5.

These are two possible approaches that should work to move the existing library to the new laptop.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your library or a backup of it then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I have about 35G of music on my iTunes on my iMac, a good % of it having been purchased on ITunes. The music sync setting for my iPhone 5 is automatic / everything.
For the past couple of months, I've been noticing music disappearing from my iPhone when it's offline (eg on the plane, when I listen to my music on my iPhone the most). Such music would come back as "in the cloud" when I regain wifi / data access. I would then download them onto my iPhone again. And then they would disappear again! How can I stop such annoying behavior? Does switching music sync to manual help? Thank you.

In the Messages app, in the drop down menu go to Messages > Preferences. Once there click the Accounts tab and then remove the iMessage account and that will stop all messages associate with your phone number from showing up on your computer.

OK. The easy explanation:
Mac OS X is a UNIX based operating system and like all other UNIX operating systems, its usage is controlled by permissions. Which user has some, all or no permission to read, write to and otherwise modify files and folders. Applications also have or do not have certain permissions.
In Mac OS X "Library" folder is a sub folder called "Receipts". When software is installed using Apple's Installer application it deposits a .pkg file in Receipts, containing information about the software and what it's permissions should be.
If for some reason those permissions are corrupted or changed to something they should not be, using Disk Utility to repair permissions compares what the current permissions are with the information contained in the .pkg files. Should Disk Utility find differences, it uses the information to correct those permissions.
Disk Utility does not repair permissions on applications that are installed via another routine, such as a custom installer or drag and drop. Neither does it repair permissions on any files or folders that you create.

If you set up an Apple ID already and didn't enter credit card details because you were planning on using gift cards only, you probably set up the account incorrectly. If this is the case, you will have to enter the credit card details even if you want to use only gift cards and download free content only. Yoy will not have to use the card, but you can't use the ID without entering the card details now. You may be able to remove the card as well after the card is verified for use by Apple by editing your account details.
There is a very specific manner in which you have to set up an ID without using a credit card. You can read about it here.

If you decide to create a new ID now, you will new another email address as wel, because the email address that you are currently using will already be associated with the ID that you just set up.
I am making certain assumptions here and reading between the lines of your post, so if I am guessing incorrectly, post back with more details.

You just find an app you want to buy and buy it. The money should deduct from the card balance.
If you're afraid of it going on your credit card delete your card. (I'm presuming that you can. I set up my iTunes before you had to have a credit card and all I use are gift cards)

Let's say, I have an Iphone 3GS and it was synced to my older pc (I know...) and it crashed and I can't retrieve my files on there. Does the book show in the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks for downloading, and the amount that's come off your card is the book's price, it's not a temporary store holding charge (which should disappear within a few days or so) ?
If it doesn't show in Purchased then you could check to see if it shows in your Purchaes history so that you can use the 'report a problem' link from it : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If doesn't show there or the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.
For the card being declined, if it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes support as above and see if they know why it's being declined.
