How do you eject the second drive if I were to upgrade?

Hey guys,
I love my new mac pro. If I were to install a second optical drive, how would I eject that? Press the eject key twice or something?
Thanks

Kappy Thanks for help..  I had already tried the Disk Utility but external drive did not show.  What worked was to shut down every thing and shut off power to all.  Disconnect power to the external drive.  Connected power to computer and then restarted the computer.  After the computer was up and running, I reconnected power to external drive and then turn it on.  At this point the external drive returned to my desk top

Have a 1st generation Ipad IOS5 and added a second email address for messaging.  Tested sending a message to my Iphone and it was received as being sent by the first email address.  How do you select the second email address as the sender of a message?

    Hello slapshot13scotty,
The information below details where to adjust both where messages are sent from and received.
Receive iMessages using another email address:
Go to Settings > Messages > Receive At > Add Another Email.
Specify the phone number or Apple ID email address that appears in the “from” field when you start a new conversation:
Go to Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID.
Existing conversations aren’t affected when you change this setting.

  • How do you eject a hard drive?

How do you eject an external hard drive?

By selecting the drive and pressing Command+E.
Any of these methods will work.

  • How do I eject the g drive once the backup is complete?

I just backed up my laptop to an external hard drive.  Instructions say to "eject" the g drive prior to disconnecting the cord between the hard drive and the laptop.  How do I do that - I pressed the ESC button but that did not work.

That would be selecting the drive picture on your desktop and either pressing command + e or clicking on it and dragging it to the trash on your Dock.  Alternatively, you could open Finder and right click on the drive on the left-hand list, then choose eject.

  • How do I eject the flash drive from an Officejet 8610 after scanning a file into it.

I used the front panel controls of my Officejet 8610 to scan an image into a flash drive plugged into the front panel of the 8610.
The 8610 recognized the presence of the drive just fine, and placed the scanned image on it as desired.
But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to do a controlled ejection of the flash drive.  (I finally did a controlled power-down of the 8610 and removed the drive after the 8610 turned itself off.)

Thank you for your post on the hp.com forums regarding safely ejecting your USB flash drive. In our printers, to remove your USB flash drive, all you need to do is - remove the flash drive. There is really no other method needed. You will not harm the flash drive, printer or files.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help! How do you get the cd drive bay out of the Pismo?

I just bought a new LG CD-RW/DVD drive (hope it was a good choice), but I can't find any info on how to get the old one out and put the new one in.
There is lots of data on the four easy screws to remove for replacing the drive once it is out of the laptop, but no data on how to get to it while it is still under the keyboard and inside the Pismo?
Little Fish in a Big Mac Pond
Pismo G3 PowerBook 400Mhz Safari; iMac G3 DV 400   Mac OS 8.6 or Earlier   Pismo OS X Safari; iMac OS 8.6

    Little Fish,
A properly working lever will have resistance as it pushes the whole drive mechanism out of the bay. It looks like the lever opens about 45º on my Wallstreet before it starts to eject, then reaches a full 90º with the drive protruding about 1/2 inch...you can then grab the drive and pull it on out.
If the drive feels like it is not going to move after applying moderate pressure, disconnect all power and cables (only so you do not damage them), turn the 'book so the drive bay hangs over the edge of a table. You can now get your fingernails under the back edge of the drive on the bottom and help pull it out while using the lever.

  • HT1820 how do you restore the hard drive with install cd after zeroing out all files? when i try to boot install disk or from usb a kernel panic screen appears telling me to restart my computer.

everytime i try to boot installation a message appears saying 'you need to restart your computer. holddown the power button until power is off then press down power button again'. i read that it was a kernel panic. cant boot into any modes but recovery mode with disk utilities but my wireless internet says no wifi hardware installed and sometimes startup manager. this just started after i erased the hard drive and had it overwritten with zeros. its a macbook pro 7,1. bought it in 2011, i think it was made in 2009. it has 320 gb of empty space right now and nothing ive tried seems to work. please help!!!! there is also no os x installed right now due to me zeroing out the hard drive how do i repair it so it will boot to installation?? i can also enter single user mode but do not have root access?

You are getting a kernel panic because you are trying to boot the computer with a Tiger DVD. That model requires 10.6.3 - Snow Leopard. You can purchase replacement discs from Apple:

  • At the end of test, how do you set the DAQ driver output to zero.

I'm a new LabVIEW user,I'm reviewing an existing program that has a clearall.vi which supposed to set the DAQ output 6025E to zero volts at the end of each test. But after turning the power supply off to UUT, the Vcc on UUT still measures between 2-3.5v I checked some of the output Port A-C and DIO still puts out 5.1v. I checked the output port bit status in the program and says it sets at zero logic. Confused and thanks for your help.

    Hello,
Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the clearall.vi. If it was not a VI that was created by National Insturments, then we will not be able to support it. If it was, maybe you could direct me to where I could find it.
What it sounds like you want to do, however, is to ensure that your digital outputs are placed at 0 when your application completes. Are you using a digital I/O device, which one? When a digital line is written to, it will retain that value untill it is written to again or reset. Therefore, I think what you want to use is the Device Reset.vi. This VI will return your digital lines to their default value. The knowledgebase titled "What is the State of My Digital Lines After Performing a Digital Output Operation?" and located http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/E309E3FCC758DB1586256C8600702CE1?OpenDocument talks more about this.
By the sounds of it, you have your digital lines from your device connected to the Vcc line on your UUT, and that a voltage is still being provided even after no power is supplied to that unit. What you may want to do, just as a test, is to manually tell the device to write a zero, and then measure the same readings that you currently are to compare them.
Post back to this forum if you have further questions after reading this discussion.

  • How do you chance the color and style of my iPad upgrade yesterday?  The new change is awful.

The changes made to the layout of my iPad are just plain yucky.  I will not be upgrading my other iPad if this is what the future is.  The calendar and all the other applications are just plain bad.  Too much white and ugly colors.  What can be done to fix this.

    It is quite a shock.
If you're having issues with the fonts, etc, you can look in the settings. You can change font sizes and under accessibility you can make fonts bold and tweak the contrast. I've also found that using a dark wallpaper helps with all the white on the screen and makes the names of apps more readable.
If there are some apps that you really can't stand, there are probably paid or free apps that can replace them, such as for the calendar or notes or whatever else you may not care for.

  • How do I get the second HD to be a shared network drive??

PowerPC G5 / dual 2Ghz - used as our file server.
    running OS X Server - v.10.3.9
Have one internal HD - 160GB partitioned into two drives (General Access & Archive) in the Public folder of this computer
Appears as Network: Local / G5 Server. When you click the connect button you get a choice of which volume to mount/connect to (ie. General Access; Archive or both)
Running out of space on the drive so I purchased a second 160GB HD. Installed it, formatted it (with DiskUtility), named it, and copied all files from Archive (partition)
The thought is to make this new 160GB drive Archive and to remove the partition from the original 160GB HD and have that be just General Access.
How do I get the second HD to be a shared network drive??
Also can I remove the partition to the first without having to clone it and reformat?

    Roam & Ali B,
    Thanks!!
    Next dumb question(s).
We have a laCie FW external HD that I was using as a back-up drive (temporarily)
I do have some files on it that I have to bring back onto the server to use. I get a admin user&passsword prompt every time I have to copy something back. It usually copies over a locked file that can only be deleted from the Server terminal.
    1. Why isn't this working without the admin prompt? I used DiskUtil to format it before I could use it.
    2. How exactly do I "clone" the current content - its not a simple 'Select All' and drag&drop? Is it going to bring over the partition as well??
    3. Once I have everything on the FW HD, re-boot using it as the System, and re-format the original 160GB HD - will I run into #1.
