How do you export separate audio tracks for Pro Tools?

I need to give separate audio tracks to my sound mixer but am confused on how to do so in FCP X.
So far I've:
Set the dialogue roles and stems for each character
Then I went into Master File>Settings
Selected:
"Format: Audio Only"
"Audio File Format: Wav File"
"Roles as: Audio only as separate files"
"Dialogue"
Sara
"Stereo"
And when I export and listen back to the wav file, there is either no audio or I hear select dialogue.
The only thing I can think of that I am doing wrong, is that each characters dialogue is not on the same track like the picture below. The tracks highlighted is of one character's dialogue that I am trying to export onto one linear track to export into Pro Tools.
Can tracks be assigned in FCP X? Or is there a crucial step that I am forgetting tthat explains why the audio for each character is not being exported.
Thanks!

If you're dumping audio for ProTools, you should be able to export XML for use in PT. Haven't done it myself, but the option's been there for a while now. You should be able to find instructions easily.
If you want to stick with making Roles work, I suggest making sure the roles are assigned properly to each clip. Kind of a super pain in the neck, to go one by one, but ... that's the way. There are key commands for the three default roles, but if you've created custom ones then it's more time consuming. Is that 'Sara' one a custom Role that you've created?
My only thought is you have compound audio clips there. Maybe go in and set the roles on the individual files inside the compound clips. Dunno...
The visual organization shouldn't matter (one track above another). That's the X way.
((In your picture, you say you have some files selected. When I select, I get a yellow border; yours are light green and dark green. What is that?))

  • How can I export an audio track with just the effect signal without the audio?

I want to export dry audio tracks and their effects signals as separate tracks. For instance a track with a reverbed snare would be one track with the dry snare and one with just the reverb.
I know from people who use Reason that it's just a box you need to tick, but I'm struggling to find out how to do it in Logic. Surely it must be a way?

I don't remember Reason being that straight forward, but the obvious way to go, is to mute all sends and bounce.
Then solo the reverb channel, in aux, checking it isn't shared by other sources, and bounce. You should have a dry and a reverbed signal, at your convenience.

  • How do you "UNLINK" the audio tracks?

I have had LOGIC now for about 3 weeks. I am learning tons and enjoying the program overall. I have received some great help from this forum. My latest adventure is creating more audio tracks. I found out recently from this forum that I had the settings in my LOGIC setup. I increased the number of audio tracks that I can use. My current question is, If I need more audio tracks in a project, I click on an audio track and then go to the Track>Create Multiple Tracks menu. I can import as many as I need.
The problem I am having is, when I create the tracks, they are somehow "linked" to whatever track that I clicked on when I choose to create the new tracks. I have tried changing the track and midi channels in the LH side of the arrange window, but when I change one track, the other one changes also. I don't know how to separate them. Is there some way to do that? ALSO>>>> Is there a way to create new audio tracks without having to click on an existing track first?
    Thank you for your consideration.

The fastest way I know is to 1)- open the track mixer window, 2) click on the global button - to turn it on, 3) click on track button - to show all available tracks, 4) double click on an unused track, this will put a new track into the arrange window.
Turning off the global button in the mixer window and selecting the parts you want to display (Track, Instruments, MIDI, auxs, busses, etc) will show you the active tracks you have in the arrange window.

  • How to import 2 separate audio tracks and keep them separate?

I need advice about importing two separate simultaneous audio tracks and keeping them separate. I am importing footage from my Sony PDX-10 DV Cam.
In the field I had wireless microphones on two people, a man and woman. I interviewed them separately. The man was on channel 1 and the woman was on channel 2.
While shooting the man, for example, I could also hear the open mic of the woman who was maybe a block away talking to some friends. But her distracting sound was on CH 2 and in playback on the camera, if I dial down the volume of CH 2, I no longer hear the woman and I have a clean audio track, Ch 1, of the man who is being filmed.
I'm trying to import the interviews into iMovies with only the relevant track turned up and the distracting track turned down. When I listen to the audio from the camera on my headsets, I can get clean sound of just the person who is on camera. But the FIREWIRE seems to grab both tracks, even though in playback i'm listening only to the clean track.
Does anyone know how I can send just one audio track to IMovie? Any way to prevent the Firewire from importing both Ch 1 and Ch 2 at the same time?
I only want the sound that's relevant to the person who is on camera. And I know that in the camera, it's possible to listen to just the track from one channel. I'm hearing just one track through the headsets, because I can sucessfully dial down the other track. That's the way I want to import the footage to iMovie. But the FIrewire seems to grab all the sound it can find and carry over both CH 1 and CH 2, which means I'm left with a jumble of sound that is not useful.
And finally, if the firewire needs to grab both tracks, is there a way to assign them to two separate tracks in iMovie, so I can then simply turn one of the tracks off?

    nope.
iM handles the two stereo-channels as "one track", and offers 3 tracks of stereo.. (the one inside the video, 2 additional tracks...)
    I would... :
    * export clip(s) share/Quicktime/Expert Settings/aiff..
    * in a designated audio processor (Garageband, Audacity, ...) seperate the two channels, creating two "new" ones, stereo, where one channel is located in the stereo middle..
    * import these two "stereo" files into iM, into Track2 and Track 3 ...
    .. boom!done

  • How do you extend the audio track on the menu to keep playing?

I am new to using DVD studio Pro 4. I created a menu with a video clip from one of the short films on the DVD. I set it as the asset for the dropzone using the Panes Rectangle Frosted Window 1. The duration of the menu is 30 seconds and then it ends in the last frame of the clip with a still. I have an audio track playing and I want it to continue playing over the still (after the video clip has finished) until someone navigates away from the menu. Any advice on how to do this? Thanks so much!

Unfortunately to do that you would have to edit the clip you want and then have the still at the end actually extend to the end of the audio (so it would really be a still at all but you would create it in Final Cut so it looks like a still - if that makes sense)
Basically the Video and Audio have to be the same length and then the menu loops back. You can't have the visual part of the menu stop at the end as a still and the music continue. You can only fake it so it looks that way

  • How do you transpose an audio track

I was wondering if anyone knew how to transpose an audio track other than using the pitch shifter plug in. I want to take a track down 1 or 2 semitones. The pitch shifter works but wanted to physically change the track.
    Thanks

I guess that seems easy enough. What I am trying to transpose is an imported track, and the transpose option does not appear in the inspector. I did not realize that before. However, the time and pitch machine did do what i wanted it to do. I just had to figure out how many cents it took to make a semitone. It is 100 by the way. There were a lot of options on there which made me avoid it at first, so i was looking for something easier. But I guess for an imported track, that is the way to go. For things I have recorded on logic, the inspector is the way to go.
    Thanks for the help

  • How do you Rearrange Video & Audio Tracks?

I need to know how to arrange the stacking order of them

If you're asking if you can actually move the track so that track 1 appears above track 2, don't think you can do it. You can move the contents of the track pretty easily as mentioned in the other answer.
To add to Nick's post, you can add a track directly above a specific track by control clicking on the patch panel of the appropriate track (I think) and choose add track. And you can move a clip or series of clips directly above or below if the target track is empty in that section by selection it and then option-up (or down).

  • How do you export large audio files?

I made a mix which is about 20 minutes long and seems to be around 600MB. There are 13 songs and I put each song on a separate track. Ive tried bouncing, exporting and sharing and anything I try results in Logic Pro X (version 10.0.1) starting the process then quitting. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to export this file. Ill be honest I don't really have a clue what I am doing. I just recently started using Logic and I am still learning! I wanted to put this mix up on soundcloud so if anyone could give some suggestions that would be very helpful! Thanks!

if the outfile is much larger than 600MB then...
Bounce out as a PCM .caf file.... which allows for much larger maximum file sizes....up to 13.5 hours at 16bit/44.1k for example..
...Also.. if it isn't the size of the output file that is causing the issue.. bounce out in realtime mode rather than offline mode.. to a Wav or MP3 file... in case it is a plugin that is causing the bounce out to quit... and then upload the resulting MP3 or wave file to Soundcloud manually...
Finally, make sure you have set the start and end times in the bounce out dialog box.. to reflect the correct start and end times of your project....

  • How do you export a drum track to Music XML from Logic Pro

I have a song in Logic Pro with a compound drum track that consists of a Drummer subtract as well as a manually written drum track using the same kit (for specific fills and kicks) as well as a drum line with auxilliary percussion. I kinda figured there was no way to combine the subtracts, so I am OK exporting each to Music XML separately (although if someone knows how to combine, I am all ears). I created a new software instrument using the same drum kit as the Drummer track and options-dragged the Drummer track to the new software instrument to convert it. However, when I view the Score Editor window for ANY of the three drum tracks, it does not come up in drum notation, but in bass cleff. The Style is blank and I don't know how to change it to drums.
I want to export to MusicXML to give my drummer music, so I am exporting this to Musescore.
Does anybody know how to export drum tracks properly? I am using Logic Pro 10.0.7
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the quick response!
I got the Join part, but when I look at the Score view for the song below I don't get the characteristics editor your screenshot shows (see attachment one). However, I can pull this up if I select on the regions in the track I want and select Window -> Score Editor. However, under Style, I can select the pulldown with a bunch of pre-defined options, non-of which are "#Drums". How does one put #Drums into the Style field (see second attachment)?

  • How do I audition separate audio tracks in the source monitor?

I don't see anything about this in the Help doc.
I want to listen to all four tracks independently from a P2 card, but when I load a clip into the Source Monitor, it sounds like I'm only hearing one track, or maybe I'm hearing all four.  I honestly don't know what I'm listening to.

You're listening to just one; Premiere Pro is screwed up in this regard. Monitoring audio in the Source Monitor is limited to one track at a time, be it multi-mono or stereo.
Switch to the Audio Waveform view, and then click the Track selector; it's defaulting to Track 1.
Unfortunately, this only stays active for the current clip. When you're done screaming and swearing, please file a feature request for smarter audio monitoring: Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form

  • How do you make separate ICloud accounts for people who all use the same Apple ID?

Me, my brother and mam all use the same Apple ID (i.e. this one. I'm not Debra) so is it possible to create three different ICloud accounts? I only want my music, pictures etc to go to my IPad, IPhone and my account on the Mac. If it's not possible, is there a way to see all the activity from this Apple ID in one place and split it into three different ID's easily? Thank's for any replies

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't have 3 accounts with one ID.
If the reason you want to keep a single ID is so you can share music and apps etc, then you should be aware that the iTunes account and iCloud accounts are different accounts, you can all share an iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts (each iCloud account would have its own ID).
