I lost a bunch of songs trying to upload to Skydrive and when I copied my library bak it has tons of duplicates... can find the old button "FIND DUPLICATES" any more in iTunes 11... anyone knows an easy way to delet so many duplicates if I cannot frup them? thanks

There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicates copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. Same advice to backup applies.

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
The cloud icons give you access to stream or download any qualifying past purchases that you don't currently have downloaded to the library.
Regarding duplicates, things haven't really changed. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. How do you find duplicates in the same album? I keep creating albums and it's frustrating because I keep having to go back and personally scan for any duplicates. Isn't there a shortcut to finding these?

I'm knew to the iMac, although I've been using my Macbook Pro 2011 for some time and I love it. I've had an iPad and used the iPhone 5 and love the streamlined way you can share pics etc. between all devices. However, I've never used the iPhoto program until now. I am trying to organize my photos into albums and it is frustrating because I select photos from the main "Photos" on the Left Sidebar and because I have so many photos I tend to put duplicates into my albums. Then I have to spend hours searching to make sure there are no duplicates before I upload them to my website. This is tedious and time consuming. Surely there is an easier way to find all the duplicates IN THE ALBUMS I CREATE. I've looked everywhere and I can't find a sorting tool to put all the duplicates side by side so I can delete the proper ones.

If they are duplicates then sorting on title will put them together, no? If you have two photos called IMG_1234.jpg or 'Last Xmas 01', then they'll have the same name.

Try activating the sidebar, menu bar, and status bar and see if this is close enough to the previous version to make you content. It is easier than downgrading and eventually you will be forced to run a newer iTunes unless you have an endless supply of the model computer you currently own.

Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7. Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved. Two ways to do this are:

    After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. If you want to free up your memory, maybe first checking to see if you got duplicates. -
From the File menu in iTunes, choose Show Duplicates. iTunes will then list all of the duplicate titles in your library.
If you delete a music in the iTunes folder, then when you try to play that particular music in your iTunes, it won't work as iTunes wouldn't be able to find it. However, when you import music on to your computer, always import straight into your iTunes, no where else.

I had a similar problem: I wanted to synch my playlist to my iphone. I like to have my playlist sorted by genre. But under each genre, albums are not sorted by the track numbers. This is a problem, especially when I am listening to club mixes when the DJ smoothly transitions from 1 track sequentially to the next one. Under the properties of each audio file, the Track Numbers and Disc Numbers are already there.
My perfect solution was to turn On Sorting - Sort Album under View>Show View Options. Then, select all the songs in that album (Shift click, Cmd click, etc) , and Edit multiple item information (Cmd I). You will see Info-Video-Sorting-Options buttons. Click on Sorting. Then, under Sort Album, Enter the name of the album. Then OK.
You should now have the playlist sorted by Genre, then each album individually sorted by track numbers. On your playlist you should see, if you scroll right, the column added called "Sort Album".
