How do you fix multiple calendars from appearing after iCloud sync?

After setting up iCloud and syncing my iPhone with it my iCal events are showing double in my iPhone (as in two events per entry). Does anyone know how to fix this?

Well. I make an export Archive from iCal.
Then deactivate from the iPhone (Adjusts - iCloud) the Calendars.
For now, I will not use iCloud for calendars. I do not understand why we end with two Calendars. One from iCloud and one from the iPhone or the Mac itselves.
We must have just ONE calendar for all.
I use CalAlarm app from Devart and with the iPhone icon selected on iTunes I had to uncheck and check on Information label Sincronize Calendars of iCal.

how do i select multiple photos from photostream to move to a folder in iphoto

    Hello Tiggertiffany,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you need to select multiple items on iCloud.com then you can use the common procedure to select multiple items by either holding Command or Shift on your keyboard.
To select multiple files or folders, hold down the Command (⌘) key, then click the items.
To select multiple files or folders that are listed together, click the first item you want to select, hold down the Shift key, then click the last item.
OS X Yosemite: select files or folders

  • How can I add multiple calendars from gmail?

I have multiple calendars on my gmail account. I would like to add all of them to the mail app on my IPad. Is that possible? If it is how do I do that?

Google's directions at the link tht Allan provided are, it turns out, a bit incomplete. Once you go to m.google.com on your iPad, you have to click on the Sync icon. Not sure how they managed to leave that rather important bit out.

  • How do you select multiple emails from the contacts book.

Using 10.8.4. I would like to use mail and select multiple email address' from the contacts book to send the same message to multiple persons. I thought I used to be able to select more than one at a time from my contacts book. Am I crazy or did they change the way it works from the previous version of software.
Or, could you go to the contacts book and email from there. Either way it seems like it was easy to do and now I have to select one at a time and keep going back to the contacts/address book for another name.

    Hi shelereric,
Once you open a new message, you should be able to just start typing the first letters of the contact's name, and Mail should give you a dropdown to select from:
So, you should not have to go back and forth between your contacts and mail....anyone in your address book should show up on the dropdown as well as anyone you have received emails from or sent emails to even if they are not in your contacts....
Is that not what is happening for you? Are you using the Mail app on the Mac?
    Cheers,

  • How do you stop unauthorized cookies from appearing in Safari?

    Hi ,
I'm using Safari 5.1.10 and system 10.6.8.  I've gotten all the security downloads available, but I seem to having issues with unauthorized  cookies appearing. These seem to appear even though I've not visited their websites, and have Safari set to accept cookies from only sites I've visited.
After going to Preferences:Privacy: remove all website data: then remove all cookies,
If I just wait a few minutes, I get 72 website cookies restored to  my computer, without doing anything. These include cookies from google, alibaba, 2mdn.net, facebook, microsoft, oracle and many more.  Some of these  declare they are using local storage, others the catch, while others just declare themselves as cookies.
These appear in spite of the fact that I have the preferences set to block cookies from third party advertizers, set Extensions to OFF, but have Javascript enabled, and allow Java, but deny all other plug-ins.
If I unclick the allow Java button in Preferences:security, then  11 of these cookies sneek back in, but the others seem to be blocked. Those that come back include Alibaba, apple, google-analytics, "local documents on my computer", machine-seeker, wikipedia, and a few others.
If I disable JavaScript in Preferences:Security, now I get only cookies from sites I've visited, as I'm supposed to, according to the settings in my Safari preferences.
So it seems that some unscrupulous information collectors are collecting data  even when the Safari settings should prohibit it. Unfortunately, some of the sites I visit ( Like Apple support communities)  require that Javascript be enabled, so I don't know how to stop this.
The problem is that I've found these unwarrented cookies appear to slow down my internet connection speeds  by  ~ 95% ( Try removing them and disabling Javascript to see what happens) in addition to it being an invasion of my privacy. In addition, it really bothers me that some of these sites are storing local documents on my computer without permission.
As I've said, I've already installed ALL the pertinent security updates.  Does anybody have any idea how to stop this from happening? I presume this is also happening on my iphone and ipad as well, but haven't checked.
I see that Safari was sued by Apple in 2012 for doing just this same thing, but they appear to be up to their old tricks, as well as many other companies.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I've investigated this phenomena  of UNauthorized Cookies a bit more  in the past few days and found their cause  and uses goes very deep down the internet rabbit hole.  While most browsers allow the user to delete cookies, or to block cookies from third parties, third parties may place cookies or "cookie equivalents" on your computer through a large variety of back doors. The most pernicious type  of such cookie is euphemistically  called a "Zombie Cookie"  or a "supercookie".
These may reside in a number of places either in  your own computer or remotely on the web. Deleting zombie cookies or supercookies is generally ineffective, because they are reinstalled in your browser, or worse, just exchange information with your browser withouth leaving a trail of cookie crumbs, the next time you get online. Some of these zombie cookies are not browser specific, so they can be accessed through all browsers on your computer.
The reason that you may never have heard of supercookies, and the reason they are so hard to find and get rid of, is that their deployment is deliberately sneaky and designed to evade detection and deletion. This means that most people who think they have cleared their computers of tracking objects have likely not. The European Union has recently taken action to make illegal the emplacement of "non-essential" cookies  on your computer, but the United States, being less concerned about your personal privacy, and more concerned about  making it easy for companies (and the government) to eavesdrop, has not.
The following is a list ( probably incomplete) where zombie cookies may be hiding on your computer:
    Standard HTTP cookies
Storing cookies in and reading out web history
    Storing cookies in HTTP ETags
Internet Explorer userData storage (starting IE9, userData is no longer supported)
    HTML5 Session Storage
    HTML5 Local Storage
    HTML5 Global Storage
    HTML5 Database Storage via SQLite
Storing cookies in RGB values of auto-generated, force-cached PNGs using HTML5 Canvas tag to read pixels (cookies) back out
    Local Shared Objects
    Silverlight Isolated Storage
Cookie syncing scripts that function as a cache cookie and respawn the MUID cookie[4]
If a user is not able to remove the cookie from every one of these data stores then the cookie will be recreated to all of these stores on the next visit to the site that uses that particular cookie, or in some cases, just the next visit to the internet, even though you may have barred 3rd party cookies from being emplaced in your browser. Every company has their own implementation of zombie cookies and most are kept proprietary, although an open-source implementation of zombie cookies, called Evercookie,[5] is available and commonly used.
One  such common type of supercookie is called Local shared objects (LSOs), or more commonly Flash cookies (due to their similarities with HTTP cookies), are pieces of data that websites which use Adobe Flash may store on a user's computer. Local shared objects are used by all versions of Adobe Flash Player and version 6 and above of Macromedia's now-obsolete Flash Player.[1]
It is possible to see who is using Flash cookies on your computer, (and remove them) by going to the adobe website storage settings panel : (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_man ager07.html).  This takes you to a settings manager  figure. This  Settings Manager figure that you see on this page is not an image; it is the actual Settings Manager for your computer. Click the tabs to see different panels, and click the options in the panels to change your Adobe Flash Player settings.
So far, I have not been able to find a method of removing or inhibiting zombie cookies that use HTML5 local or global storage locations. Some browsers may provide such power, but Apple Safari apparently does not.
For more information on supercookies see:
    https://www.bestvpn.com/blog/8177/super-cookies-flash-cookies/
There are some ways to reduce your load of unwanted cookies and local storage  type cookies using  extensions such as AdBlock or Disconnect,  But I've tried some of these and it doesn't seem to  stop very many of them, even though the Disconnect extension is said to block over 2000 of these types of  cookies.
For those who are trying to ride under the radar by using some of these extensions or software blockers, be aware that use of these may actually make you more visible because of browser fingerprinting.  Whenever you visit a website your browser sends data to the server hosting that site. This data includes basic information, including the browser name, operating system, and exact version number of the browser. This information is known as passive browser fingerprint because it happens automatically. However websites when blocked, can also easily install other types of scripts that ask for additional information, such as a list of all installed fonts and plugins, supported data types (so-called MIME types), screen resolution, system colors and much more. Because this information has to be solicited from your browser, it is known as active fingerprinting. Taken altogether, the various fingerprint attributes can be almost instantly (it takes just a few milliseconds to run algorithms that compare millions of fingerprints) combined to create a unique fingerprint that can be used to very accurately identify an individual user, no matter if cookies have been deleted or IP address changed between website visits.
For an article on browser fingerprinting, See : https://www.bestvpn.com/blog/8159/browsers-fingerprint-reduce/
The bottom line is that if you use the internet, your browser history is being tracked by a myriad of companies and government agents, and it is likely not possible to stop this.  For those who work in science, industry or government and are working on sensitive topics or novel product development  that  another company or government may find interesting, there appears to be many ways to recreate  what you are working on by studying your browser history, or installing worms to view exactly what you are writing or reading.  It came as somewhat of a shock to me to see just how pervasive internet spying has become, and it's not just malicious or destrustive agents who are doing so. Google didn't become a $350 billion company by simply bringing nice toys to us to play with. The real value of the internet comes from the trade and sale of secretly obtained personal information from you and I and everyone else, and its sale to all who will pay for it.

  • How do you add multiple addresses from Mail to Address Book at once?

So let's say I receive an email to myself and 50 other recipients and I want to add those other recipients to my address book. Do I seriously have to go through and select "Add to Address Book" on each of the fifty contacts?! Tried doing a shift click which will highlight all contacts, but then when you right-click to get the "add to address book option" it only displays one single contact at the top of the menu. I know there is a way to add select and add multiple contacts to address book at once because I figured out how to do it once a long time ago and I still have the 67 card group to prove it. I just can't remember how I did it!!! Didn't think it'd be such a hard feature to re-discover. Would love some help on this! Thanks.
    David

there is no built-in way to do this. the only way i know is by using Mail Scripts
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
it has a script "Add addresses" that does just what you want.

  • How do you keep junk mail from appearing even after I have hit the "junk" button when it appeared the first time?

I have several email accounts that come to my mac.   When junk appears I hit the junk button.   Does it take awhile to train the junk or is there a way to set up mail so that it automatically goes to junk and does not appear at all in my inbox?
It's so time consuming to get rid of this stuff.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Grammynancy

Hello, it does take time to train it.
You can setup rules if there's any constancy, like I find that 99.999% of mail from yahoo is junk, so I have a Rule setup to just get rid of it permanently, I never see them at all...
But you could have it be If Subject contains Ciagra, Perform the following functions, Mark as Junk... or whatever.

  • How do you stop random screenshots from appearing when you open an app

These screenshots really bug me, especially when it comes to safari.  I use safari daily and sometimes I stumble upon rather frightning images.  Because.the screenshot that appears when you open an app is always a random snapshot of when you used the app in the past (I sometimes see screenshots that are over a year old), my biggest fear is that a scary picture I looked at in the past may appear when I open safari in the future.  Jumpscare.
aside from that, this could also be a security violation, as a picture of your login information foryour bank may aappear at any time.  This is especially dangerous if your iPhone is in the hands of another person.

When you open an app or when you close an app using the App Switcher (double-tap the Home button)?
If you are talking about the App Switcher, there's no way to disable the displayed screenshot. If you don't want to see the "scary image", browse to another website. I have Google set as one of my favorites...when I shut down Safari, I just hit the Google favorite so the next time I open Safari, it opens to Google. I've never heard of nor experienced random screenshots popping up when opening Safari.

  • How do you fix the audio from drifting sync on DV footage?

I know there has been some discussion about this, but the solution doesn't really make sense.  Basically, I am having a huge problem with audio sync on anything shot on MiniDV.   Sometimes the footage will pop at the beginning and the footage will immediately be off sync --- sometimes it takes halfway through the tape to start drifting.  We work with pro-level camcorders and recording decks, and basically the only solution I can find it use legacy FCP or iMovie to capture the footage.  Which is not a solution.  I've also tried the re-time fix, which *sometimes* works ------ but only sometimes.   Is this being addressed in any way?

  • How do you recover a book from iPhoto after it crashed

After working on a book every night for 6 months iPhoto suddenly told me today that the theme was no longer available and to change to another and the pictures would transfer and I could continue. I duplicated the book then did as instructed. Both books are completely blank. I lost all 100 pages and 6 months of work. The kicker is the theme is still available and I can open other books I had made, but not this one that I had almost finished. I looked in my backup and can't find the book name. I looked in the time machine and it did a backup last night but when it was restored I got the same error message when trying to open the book, so I assume it's blank. Does anybody know if I can restore the book? Do backups not back up everything? I thought between the time machine and external hard drive I was covered, but either I was wrong, it's difficult to find, or I'm not the brightest bulb....(I'm hoping the answer isn't that I was wrong and that I just don't know where to find it). PLEASE help. Thanks in advance!

After working on a book every night for 6 months iPhoto suddenly told me today that the theme was no longer available and to change to another and the pictures would transfer and I could continue.
Still get the same error message but only for that book.
The program had been crashing on me for awhile now
This looks like a bad library corruption.  Where is your iPhoto library stored? How much free disk space do you have?
    Try the following:
    Backup your iPhoto library
Restore an older version of your iPhoto library, from before the book vanished completely
Don't open this library in iPhoto and don't change to a different theme. Changing the theme may remove texts and change the layout of pages.
Run the library first aid tools and repair the database and the permissions. If you still cannot open the book, rebuild the iPhoto library.
To repair and rebuild open the iPhoto library with the First Aid tools:
Launch into the First Aid Tools  by holding down the key combination option-command ⌥⌘ and double clicking the iPhoto Library icon to launch iPhoto on this library.
Keep the two buttons firmly held down, until you are seeing the First Aid panel.
    Then select "Repair database".
If that does not fix it, try the other First Aid options as well.
If you manage to open your book this way and to finish it, upgrade to iPhoto '11. The version iPhoto 8.1.2 you are running is no longer supported with your current MacOS X version, and you will run into similar glitches again and again because of this incompatibility.  The easiest way to upgrade iPhoto will be to upgrade your MacOS X to 10.10, Yosemite. Then you can buy iPhoto '11, version 9.6 from the App Store. With your current system you can only buy iLife '11 installer disks from Amazon or similar, which will be much more expensive, and a lot of more work.

  • How do you stop a video from playing after you use removechild?
