How do you fix the white screen of death on ipod touch 4g

Okay so i was listening to my ipod and it died so i just put it in my pocket.. when i got home and charged it i turned it on and the screen was white.. i reset it about 4 times using itunes and i tried the hold the power button and sleep/wake button numerous times and nothing happened it's been on a white screen for a few days now and i can get it to play music by hitting the sleep/wake button twice and guess where the play button is.. but one thing i tried was taking pictures of the screen and uploading them to itunes and it shows the screen as it should... with the lock screen background and all... i seriously have no idea what to do because the nearest apple store is 25 minutes away someone please help me :/

If you tried a restore and it is still doing it, then you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • How do you bring the "white screen of death" back to life?

My daughter's Ipod now shows a white screen, but you can see the raster scrolling on it . I tried the reset, and the restore, and installing the latest software version. I would like to know what to try next. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

how do you fix a white screen on a ipod touch

okay, so my ipod screen is white.
i tried to hold the two buttons down for like 5 minutes.
plugging it into my computer (which didn't amount to anything because the computer didn't even pick up that it was connected to my ipod)
and coming on here to find any way to fix this.
ok apple.... ok. i guess i'll just wait til the battery dies.
    this is stupid.

  • How to deal with the "white screen of death"?

My 1 hour old iMac (27 inch i5) just died. I had used it for less than 30 mins when it downloaded an OS update and rebooted. Then it refuses to boot, stuck in a white screen.
After that I slid in the recover disk and used the disk utility to restore the HDD as in the recover manual. It then spent 30 mins recovering,. However, on re-start it is still stuck in the white screen of death.
    What do i do now?

    Hi anerjee;
With a brand new Mac, personally I would not mess with it. I would take it back to Apple and ask them to fix it.

  • I have an iPhone 4S with a smudge or smear under the front glass screen and a cracked backplate. How do you fix the front screen? HELP!!

How do You fix a iPhone 4S with a smudge under the front screen and a shattered backplate?

You can purchase replacement parts from a third-party vendor, or a replacement iPhone from Apple.  If you choose the former, there are many online videos to assist you with the teardown and repair.

  • How do I fix the red screen of death issue?

iPad Air, 13 mo. old:  working fine yesterday, plugged it in to charge (left it on) and about 8 hrs later I went to use it.  When I opened the case, I had the red screen of death.  No error messages, can't see any of the icons.  just red screen.  I finally got it to turn off using the home and off button.  turning back on goes right to red screen.  Attempted multiple times to restore using iTunes.  Each time it gets stuck in "waiting for iPad to respond"?  Anyone have a fix?

    Hello konagirl64,
It may help to put your iPad into recovery mode prior to restoring.

  • How do you fix the spinning ball of death?

I have a Macbook Pro 13 mid 2009. It passes the Apple Hardware Test with no errors/problems. Every time I run the disk utility, I get permission errors. I fix them and they come back again. I did a clean install of OS X 10.8.4, but the problem is still there. Could it be a bad hard drive cable? bad hard drive? memory? If so, how do you test this since it passed the Apple Hardware Test?

I jumped the gun. The spinning ball of death is back. Here is the console dump for when the problem occurred.

  • How do you fix lines that come up on an iPod Touch (5th Gen) once it turns on after running out of battery?

This has happened to me about 4 times now. I just got a brand new iPod touch (5th Gen) after replaceing my 4th gen iPod. I havent had it for a month, so its still brand new. The only thing is that when the iPod runs out of battery it turns off (duh) but it doesnt turn back on when you plug it in to charge. When I noticed that the iPod doesnt turn on, and I hit the power button, lines appear on my screen. They are lines that run up and down the screen from left to right. I try factory resets, setting resets, restoring my iPod. But this issue keeps coming up. I honestly dont know what to do. This thing is brand new and its acting up on me. Should I take it to my apple store? Should I just put up with it. I have tried everything and at this point I dont know what to do anymore. Please help!!

    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Since you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem
If the iPod is defective within warranty (you indicate it is) and not abused Apple will exchange it on the spot.

  • How do you get the speck gemshell case off an ipod touch 5th generation

I am trying to get the speck gemshell case that I purchased along with the "new" ipod touch 5th generation. It seems like a solid piece of clear see-through piece of plastic and it will withstand lots of drops with the added "lips"on the front of the ipod touch (one reason why i got this case. The other reason was to have my red ipod seen by all who wish to look at it.) but my problem with it is that it seems "too solid". The case is hard to put on and REALLY hard to take off. I have read on some websites that you can take a credit card as a way of taking the case off but I want to figure out how to take it off without ruining my ipod or bending the case?

    Contact the manufacturer

    There support page

does not list instructions for Gemshell case

  • How to fix the white screen of death

Hi I have been having trouble with my imac that was bought in 2009. I was working on a project when my imac froze. I turned it off and turned it back off but then it showed a screen the color of sky blue. I left it on the whole day then turned it off for the whole night. Once I turned it back on it showed a screen with a file sign and a blinking question mark.
    Please help me

Sounds like a hardware problem, run Apple Hardware Test (Google it) in Extended Mode at least 2-3 times in succession. If you get any error codes you have confirmed its hardware which means there is nothing we can do to help on a user forum. It would mean a trip to your local Apple Store or AASP.

  • How do I get rid of the white screen of death? :(

    Hi!
How do i get rid of the white screen of death?
(iPod Touch Gen 2), I don't want to get a new iPod and I heard you can fix it without going to an apple store, are there any solutions..? (:
    Please help!! Thank you!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Fixing the white screen

Can anyone help a tech illiterate broke single mom that can't afford a new computer to help fix the **** white screen of death that haunts my screen?

There has been three people here with your issue today, this is very highly unusual and hope it's not a start of something.
I'll say the same to you as I did the other two
OS X is not loading for some reason off the drive.
Normally you would see a gray screen with a spinning circle, but the gray screen splash is held in EFI firmware someplace and loaded first.
You'll have to run through this list of fixes, see how far you get to resolve your issue yourself, or have to take it in for service/repair.
