How do you get a disk image to mount automatically at login?

I've created a disk image on my iMac in order to share my iPhoto library with multiple users.  I would like it to mount automatically when the computer boots up, rather than having to chase it down every time a user wants to access photos.  I know how to navigate to Login Options in System Pref/Users & Groups, but don't see any mechanism there for adding disks or apps to startup at login.  Thanks...

Adding an application to startup.  I'm not quite sure what you mean by mounting a disk image but you could pop your dmg in there and see what happens at login.

How can you get a mirror image of a photo on iPhoto?

By using an external editor. Preview is already on your Mac. It's called 'Flip Horizontal'
In order of price here are some other suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • How do you create a disk image using Disk Copy?

    Hello,
Is there any way you can create a disk image using Disc Copy? Is there a better way to create a Disk Image?
I would like to burn two copies of a 4.2 gig folder on my mac. I usually insert a blank DVD-R and then the mac asks if I would like to prepare it at which point I click "yes". An icon of a DVD disk appears on the desktop and then I drag my files onto this icon. It takes a few moments to create the disc image and then I click "burn". However, after the disc is burned the disc image disappears and I have to start all over again if I want to make another copy.
How can I save this disc image? If I could save the disc image, it would enable me to burn a second DVD right after the first without having to create the disk image all over again. This would save a lot if time.
    I am using OS 10.1.5
    Thank you for any suggestions

Thanks Niel for the info about creating a Disk Image with the Disk Copy utility in OS 10.1.5
That worked however when I insert a blank DVD-R, the disk image still has to be copied to the DVD-R buffer and then it can be burned. And so this doesn't really save any steps - the "copying into the buffer" step still has to occur whether or not you have created a disk image of your files. So creating a disk image doesn't really shorten the process of burning multiple copies of a DVD.
I will try to describe the steps more clearly:
Two of the three steps for creating a DVD (steps 2 and 3) are very time-consuming:
    1. put blank DVD into the drive (a DVD disk icon quickly appears)
    2. drag files onto this icon (this step takes a long time as the files are copied into the buffer)
    3. choose "burn" (the actual burning also takes a long time)
I was hoping that when I create two or more DVDs of the same files, I could first create a Disk image so that when I create the second DVD, step 2 could be skipped. That does not seem to be the case - the disk image still has to be re-loaded. And so I think I will not bother with the Disk image idea - it doesn't seem to be necessary or helpful when burning DVDs to backup data.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

  • How do you create a disk image?

I have Lego Star Wars for the Mac, and I don't want to keep having to get out my portable disc drive all the time to play the game. Is there any way I can make a disk image of this game so that I don't need the disk to play it anymore, and if so, how do I do it? Thanks!

On many Games, Disc Images do not work due to protection methods used, but to try, insert the Disc, (I assume this is a CD or DVD & not a Hard Drive?), then open Disk Utility, highlight the Disc, File>New>New Disk Image from...

  • How do you create a disk image of windows so u can increase partition size?

Ok, I have installed windows on my mac using bootcamp so i can play pc games and such. I mainly use the mac side of the computer but I have 30 GB devoted to windows. I ran out of space though and now want to uninstall windows so i can make the windows partition bigger. The problem is that I don't want to have to install ALL of my programs over again once i reinstall windows so I want to take a disk image of windows which i can revert to once it is reinstalled. I tried using the disk utility to do it but it keeps giving me error messages. Does anyone know how do create a disk image using windows??? or maybe I'm doing something wrong with the disk utility??? HELP!

The easiest way I have found to do this is to backup the windows partition with a program such as WinClone
    http://twocanoes.com/winclone/
Then use the bootcamp assistant to erase and recreate the partition, finally restoring the backup to the new partition. I have done this several times with my mac and it works great.

  • How do you get the Find bar to not automatically close when a page is reloaded or when moving to another tab?

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature. Is there any way to get it to work like previous versions? I spend way too much time re-enabling the Find bar over and over.

    You don't.
Clicking on the player window will hide the controllers but clicking the arrow keys will make it appear again.
    Use QuickTime Player 7.6.6 instead.

  • How do you get fields to format for dates automatically?

I have Acrobat 9.0 and created a text field in a form for "date".  I have set the format as date mm/dd/yyy but keep getting an error msg when I enter dates "Invalid date/time ...".  I want to be able to enter 05161987 and have it format automatically as
    05/16/1987.

No, it does not. One needs to deal with international date format and sequences and users who do not want to enter leading zeros.

  • What release level of code do you get when you download a disk image (ISO/IMG) of a click-to-run Office 2013 product?

I’ve asked a similar question to this on an Office Community Forum but nobody knows the answer.  So
I was hoping that an IT professional responsible for installing and deploying Office 2013 might know.
If you download an installation disk image (ISO/IMG) of a click-to-run Office 2013 product from office.microsoft.com/myaccount (Account Options:
Install from a disc > I want to burn a disc), what release level of code do you get?
Now that Service Pack 1 is available, do you get a disk image with Service Pack 1 incorporated?
Or do you still get the RTM (Release to Manufacturing) level of code?

Diane, thank you for the reply.
I was hoping that someone who has downloaded a disk image since SP1 became available would be able to confirm that for a fact.
I have just found a good description of Click-to-Run on Technet that I didn't know existed.  The link is: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219427(v=office.15)
    The article states:
"Click-to-Run products that you download and install from Microsoft are up-to-date from the start. You won’t have to download and apply any updates or service packs immediately after you install the Office product."
This statement is probably true if you click the Install button on office.microsoft.com/myaccount and install "in real-time" over the Internet.  However, I know for a fact that it is not true if you order a backup disk (Account
Options: Install from a disc > I want to purchase a disc).  All you get is RTM level code (15.0.4420.1017).
So I still feel uneasy about what release level you get if you download a disk image.  I don't want to download what might be the better part of 1GB of code over the Internet only to discover it is back level.
Addendum (6 April 2014): I decided to perform an experiment.  I looked at the size of the data on my backup disk which contains RTM level code.  It is 2.04GB.  I then went to office.microsoft.com/myaccount and clicked to download a disk
image of my Office 2013 product.  The pop-up window that asks me whether I want to Run or Save the file informed me that the size of the file is 2.04GB!!!  I cancelled the download.  I strongly suspect that, if I had continued with the
download, I would have received the same RTM level code I already have dating back to October 2012.  I think this is awful customer service.  To some extent, I can understand the logistical problems of replacing backup disks lying in warehouses
waiting to be shipped.  But I cannot understand why disk images on download servers cannot be refreshed quickly.

  • How do you get iTunes purchased songs to automatically play one after the other

How do you get iTunes purchased songs to play automatically one after the other without having to hit play for each song ? Also I lost all my pictures on my iPad when I installed iOS 7 upgrade. Any way to get them back? Thanks. Dr Ron.

    Hi Dr. Ron,
By your question, I am wondering if you are playing your music from the iTunes app rather than the Music app?
In the Music App, you can go to any of the options at the bottom and click on a song to play and it will then continue to play the songs in that category. You can also select "Shuffle" to shuffle them.
As for your Photos, did you have them backed up anywhere?
    Cheers,
    GB

  • How do you get .gif images to move?

I know when you take pictures in photo booth you can export it to your iChat account to make it a little animation. But how do i get the .gif images i dragged & dropped from the web to move? I open Preview to view the .gif but it just gives me all the frames of the picture and not really an animation. Can anyone help me make them move?

I presume you want to have an animated buddy icon?
    In case you have leopard installed;
    1. Select the 4 photo (burst) button in Photo Booth.
    2. Look: 1.straight into the camera and after the flash look 2.left, 3.right an up.
    3. Select the miniature in the photo booth picture bar, if you like it: click on the iChat icon.
    4. Open iChat>preferences>general>tick the box "show animated buddy icons".
You have an animated buddy icon and you can see your buddy's animations as well, in case they have one.

  • How do you weed through duplicate images?

I love that Aperture allows tasks to be done many different ways. I'd like to hear some ideas on how to do this -
I am going through and finally getting my old photos from 2002 to current managed in Aperture. Many of the images are a mess on CD backup and more recent images are from the pc (I could get these from an EHD or in iPhoto). Long story short, I have LOTS of duplicate images from one disk to another. I mean the same photo two or three times.
My library has a top blue folder for the year. The projects within there are almost all by month year (i.e. Apr 2003). As far as I can tell, all of these images are the same - but one project might have an image that another one doesn't have. Should I worry about this or not? I am very detail oriented and anal about it - so set me straight if I need a slap into reality
Should I just go through my library and view by date and delete the duplicates without regard to which CD they came from? What would you do? How do you weed through duplicate images in this regard?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I almost thought you hit a winner there... even for general use. I started to read it and realized the import window cannot be resized. Why did I think that? Well, in general, have you ever imported from your camera and then took more pictures? Do you always remember what the last downloaded image was? Wouldn't it be great to resize that import window and see the actual library underneath to check??!
Anyway, my imports are done so .... last night I did a few months worth and I was in date view within 2003 (not the smart folder at the top under Library) and went through using the 9 key to reject the images that were duplicate. Some of them I could go to the project and reject in larger groups, but mostly it was one by one. It is a painstaking process, but ensures I have every image. Once I know I have it all, I will delete the rejects.
Keep in mind - my duplicates are not in the same project - they exist in multiple projects, sometimes two or three.
No other tips out there? I was sure there were enough power users that would have some secret tip to make life easier with Aperture.

How do I make a Disk image and burn an install Disk, Ive tried it a couple of times, but will not boot up.

Thanks for getting back to me, Yes it does, it came with the machine.
    Hi pfhannon,
Does the original Install disk that you are copying,
    boot your computer?
You may be successfully making a copy of a disk that
is not suitable for your machine.

When you "Restore from a Time Machine Backup.", the drive will be erased for you, but yes, won't hurt to:
Boot into Recovery (hold ⌘R on boot)
Utility->Disk Utility->Erase Macintosh HD, then Repair Macintosh HD
    Quit Disk Utility
Then Select: Restore from a Time Machine Backup.
