You wait until some are available. There haven't been any in several years now... so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

How do I get iphoto to recognize that a computer really is connected to the internet?  I cannot use places to locate my photos, because the software keeps telling me my computer is not connected.  I know the computer is connected.

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. It the problem persists  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If the new library does'nt have that problem then your original library is damaged. Post back if that's the case and we'll go from there.

  • How do you get iPhoto albums on to an external HD and not by date?

I really hope someone can help me with this.
I don't know if I am missing some really easy step, but I recently bought an external 100GB FireLite drive to back up all my photos and music. The problem is that when I drag the albums on to the hard drive an error message comes up after a while, this even happens if I try to drag one photo. However, if I drag the files in date format, i.e 2001, 2002, 2003 etc.. then the files are copied over. However, when I try and open these on the new drive, they come up in Preview not in iPhoto. I am wondering if anybody else has had these problems and if so, how did you manage to back up your photos on an external hard drive as the albums are shown in iPhoto and not in date format.
I'd be grateful for any advice.

    Hi Saint tommy,
-when you drag Albums to the hard drive you are probably running into the problem of having images in the Album that have the same file name. This happens when your camera resets it's file numbering to 1 each time you clear the card. Make sure your camera uses continuos numbering. I am not sure why that would happen dragging one photo.
-when you drag the photos in date format, the images are still in separate folders as to date of creation, so you will not have the same problem because they are in separate folders.
-When you open them up on a separate drive, they will open up in Preview because you did not copy the Entire iPhoto Library folder. If you did copy the entire iPhoto Library folder you would have to tell iPhoto where this folder is so it can open it.
When you launch iPhoto holding down the Option key this is the window you will get.
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library if that is what you want to do, or choose a library to open by clicking the "choose" button.
If you click the "create library" iPhoto will open with a brand new library for you to import images to. If you click "choose" then you will get this window.
    Open library
Navigate to where the library is on your computer, highlight it, then clcik the "open" button.
Now the "how to for backing up the iPhoto Library folder"
    Backing up your iPhoto Library
    1. Burn the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder to a CD or DVD
This method will give you a burned iPhoto Library folder that can be copied back to your computer to replace a damaged library. You can also use this method to backup an old library when you want to create a new Library to use as your current library.
insert a blank CD into your internal or external CD-RW drive and copy the iPhoto library to the CD icon on your desktop. When you drag the CD icon to the Trash/Eject button in the Dock, you are given the option to burn the CD. Click Burn and the CD is created. To burn a DVD backup of your digital images, use a DVD and a SuperDrive-equipped Mac
The easiest way to burn an iPhoto Library folder in the Finder that is larger than 4.7 gig to fit on one DVD is to burn sections of the folder.
Drag the iPhoto Library folder to the desktop
Double click the folder to open it.
Drag each Year folder to the desktop.
You should be left with the iPhoto Library folder containing all the data files, and the Year folders.
Combine whatever year folders that amount closest to a DVD burn size on one DVD. Make sure that you have burned all the Year folders, then the iPhoto Library folder with all the data files.
If you ever need to use this backup, insert the DVDs into your computer and copy the folders to the desktop. Put all the Year folders back into the iPhoto Library folder. Then put the iPhoto Library folder back into the Pictures folder.
    2. Copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library to an external drive formated for a Mac. Do not use this as your only back up as the external can also go bad.
    3. Copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library to your iPod in disk mode
4.Creating your own CDs and DVDs for viewing in iPhoto
This method is a great way to back up Albums of older photos or even your entire library if it is small enough to fit on a DVD. This method will give you a library that will mount within iPhoto in the source column to be viewed. To import any images from this library they need to be dragged into your library in the source column.
If you just want to backup the images in your library:
    1) Within iPhoto select the images, albums or rolls you want to backup. Go to Share>Export and export them to a newly created folder on the desktop. Follow the directions in the next link.
Creating a CD or DVD to be viewed in Windows or by a photo processing company
Now the "how to copy the iPhoto Library to an external and have iPhoto use that library."
Copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to a Mac formatted external drive.
Launch iPhoto while holding down the Option key.
At the prompt, choose to open another library.
Navigate to the library on the external and highlight it.
    Hit the "open" button
iPhoto will open the library on the external and from now on will use this library to import images too. This will now be your working library. Make sure everything is working correctly and everything is fine in the library.
You can then delete the library on the internal if you wish.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do you get iPhoto to STOP "UPDATING"?

I am getting worried that the new 9.3 is totally messed up. It asks you to upgrade, but then it never finishes upgrading. You just get that never-ending spinning spokes.
I have this on my MacBook Air. That photo library is minimal, but I am worried that it will torch my main photo library on my iMac. Yes I have backed up stuff, but this is a MAJOR pain because that's about 11,000 to 12,000 photos.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    If that fails:
Restore from your back up, repair the Library and try again

  • How do you get iPhoto to stop autocropping/zooming photos within a frame?

I have hundreds of odd shaped images and I don't want to have to manually "fit to frame" hundreds and hundreds of images?
Can I turn off the autocropping or zooming function so Apple uses my  actual picture dimensions?  Or at least is there a way to batch "fit to frame"?  Thanks for any help!  Scrapbook we must deal with issue all the time.
    Cheers,
    Lorili

If you're referring to iPhoto books and photos in the frames on the page there is a Fit Photo to Frame Size option.  Command (right)-click on the photo on the book page and select Fit Photo to Frame Size from the Contextual menu:
An extreme example of it is shown here:

  • How can you get a mirror image of a photo on iPhoto?

How can you get a mirror image of a photo on iPhoto?

By using an external editor. Preview is already on your Mac. It's called 'Flip Horizontal'
In order of price here are some other suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • I have downloaded video to iPhotos but how do you get the video to iMovies

I have downloaded video to iPhotos but how do you get the video to iMovies

In iMovie look in the Event Library. You should see an Event named "iPhoto Videos" (assuming the videos are compatible with iMovie).
Each time you open iMovie it will look for any new videos in iPhoto and place thumbnails in the iPhoto Videos Event. You will be given a choice as to whether you want the thumbnails generated now or later. The thumbnails will appear in chronological (date) order in the Event window. Note that the clips themselves are not actually imported to iMovie - they are simply referenced by iMovie (that is, iMovie points to the clips in iPhoto).
Drag clips (or parts of clips) to a project. To start a new project, select File > New Project from iMovie's menu.
Please ask if you need more advice. Otherwise, click on Help > iMovie Help in the menu. There you will find plenty of good information about how to use iMovie, including short video tutorials.

  • How do you get Photos to recognize the "old" iPhoto Library on an external drive without it copying it to the internal drive on the computer which is low in HD space?

How do you get Photos to recognize the “old” iPhoto Library on an external drive without it copying it to the internal drive on the computer which is low in HD space?

Launch Photos while holding down the alt/options key.
This will show the Library Chooser panel. Select the library on the external drive. Photos will create a Photos Library on the same drive.
Photos may not be able to open the library, however, if your external drive has an incompatible file system. It needs to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled) and locally mounted, not a remotely mounted volume, as described here:  Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture

  • When I open an event, including flagged items, the photos appear one by one, not as thumbnails, so I can't export more than one phot at a time. How do I get iPhoto to show the thumbnails?

I've tried rebuilding the thumbnail database, but that hasn't helped.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running?
Try moving the Zoom slider at the bottom of the iPhoto window all the way to the left.  Does that let more than one photo display in the window?

  • HT5129 how do i get iPhoto to stop bothering me with Mobile Me Migration windows when everything's already on my hard drive?

how do i get iPhoto to stop bothering me with Mobile Me Migration windows when everything's already on my hard drive?

    Click "More Info", not "o.k.".
Then open the iPhoto Preferences "Accounts" tab and remove the "Mobile  Me" account, if it is still there.
    Quit iPhoto.
Check, if "Mobile Me" is still enabled in the System Preferences > Mobile Me panel (if you still have this panel). if yes, sign out.
    Log off and on again.
Test, if iPhoto still is bugging you to transfer your Mobile Me content. If yes, you need to delete your iPhoto Preferences from your User Library.
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
    And also remove the file
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto/mmsunset.plist
from the Caches in the User Library - this file contain the end date of Mobile me.

  • I just bought the iPad Air and wanted to download an app and when I dismissed the page that came up that was offering free apps for the Air I pressed not now, how do you get that back?

I just bought the Apple iPad Air yesterday and I wanted to download a certain app from the app store.  When it first opened it had a page come up over the apps with free apps that you could download to the iPad. I clicked on the not now button, thinking it would reappear after closing and re-opening the app store, but it did not. How do you get this back so that I can have the opportunity of checking the apps out?
Thank you for any assistance that there may be for this.

After activating your iPad, go to the App Store and search for your free apps:
    1. Pages
    2. Numbers
    3. Keynote
    4. iPhoto
    5. iMovie
    6. GarageBand
If apps are still showing the price: sign out>reboot>and sign in again

  • How do you get your photos in to different photo albums?

How do you get your photos into different photo albums on a i phone 4

If you are willing to manage your photos in iPhoto and transfer the albums you create in iPhoto to your iPhone (using iTunes), I think you will find that an easy solution is available.
In iPhoto, locate the image that you want to insert into an album (or albums); for example, you may locate the image in an event, or it may be in one or more "Faces" categories, or it may already be in an album, etc. Then, drag the image into any album. Repeat to insert the image into other albums.
I may have misunderstood your question, or the above may not provide what you're looking for, so post again if need be.

  • How do I get Iphoto to ask me before merging events?

  • How do I get iPhoto to use my Mail address book and no Themes?

How do I get iPhoto to stop themes and use mail to share my photos?
I have corrected this on another system (iMac and MacAir) but do not remember how I did it.

Make sure you have the latest version of iPhoto (v9.1.3). If you installed from a disk or it was already on a new Mac, then run software update. If you bought on the App Store check there for updates.
Then check the General Pane of the Preferences

Do you have Aperture installed? I found your model on a compatibility list; however, there was a note that it requires Aperture 2 to be installed:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
    According to this excerpt:
To see a list of digital cameras with RAW-format support that are compatible with iPhoto, visit this Aperture webpage (any camera compatible with Aperture, Apple’s advanced photo editing and management program, is compatible with iPhoto as well)
which is at the bottom of this page:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/9.0/en/pht41627265.html
I may be wrong, but I interpret that info to mean you need Aperture 2 before iPhoto will work with RAW?
