A little while ago, before i messed around with some of my computer settings, i was able to control Itunes while it was minimized so instead of having a button for itunes it was a play and two skip buttons on the bottom, how do i get my itunes to do this again

You can get a taskbar toolbar by right clicking anywhere on your taskbar. Select toolbars and put a check mark next to iTunes. Then, in iTunes Preferences: iTunes > Edit > Preferences > Advanced Make sure the box Minimize iTunes to the System Tray is UNCHECKED.
Now when you minimize iTunes you'll get the toolbar.

You might be able to achieve what you want by using Party Shuffle. Set the source for Party Shuffle to be the playlist you want to listen to or add the tracks you want to listen to by control clicking on them and selecting Add to Party Shuffle. Once everything is in Party Shuffle, you can rearrange them to your satisfaction. As the songs are played, they'll roll off the queue. You can quit iTunes and even when you restart, all your songs will be there, in the order you want, waiting for you to hit play.

As it goes now, one clicks on the song in the new playlist where the arrow is and then chooses 'Play Song Next.' So, it plays next, but then the song after that is back in the old playlist. I want to use iTunes smoothly without the extra clicks I've had to do in order to get the playlist to continue. This is music for background while I play the violin at restaurants, and extra clicks and hassle is quite unappreciated, especailly since it worked fine in the previous iTunes.

At the top of the playlist where it shows the playlist title and the number of songs, there are two icons. Click the "play" triangle to add the entire playlist to "Up Next", or the "shuffle" symbol to do the same thing but in random order. But the currently playing track will stop playing, and all the songs in "Up Next" will be removed (replaced by the ones from this playlist).
If you hold down the "option" key while clicking those icons, the currently playing song will continue playing, and the new playlist will be added to "Up Next" (above the songs that were already there).

All my tracks are MP3.
In List View, I do not have an Album column I have an Album by Artist column. If I click on this column the albums look right in the playlist on the screen but when I burn to the CD the tracks are not in one folder per album instead they seem to be in folders per Artist then Album, which as one of the albums is a compilation has created about 30 folders.
If I switch on the 'Sort by Album' column it burns the disc as I expected.

It should display the albums in the order they were released how are you supposed to do this I've played with sort order and it makes no difference. This seems pretty basic way of organizing an artists music has Apple lost their collective mind with this release of Itunes?

You can sort by album, but then by multiple clicks on the album column header you can get album by artist and album by year.

How can I get iTunes 10.7 to recognize the already existing library .itl fle?

I had to downgrade from iTunes 11 to 10.7 because v 11 could no longer sync my iPod Classic. I uninstalled iTunes 11, reinstalled iTunes 10.7 and used the lastest .itl file from the Previous iTunes Libraries directory that was used in v10.7. After that, I just had to update the library with new music purchases since that .itl was last updated and I was up and running in relatively no time.
It worked fine for a few days but lately when I launch iTunes, it brings up the iTunes home screen and doesn't load the .itl fil, which is in the 'C:\Users\Robert\Music\iTunes' directory where it's always been. Previous to launching iTunes, I made a copy of this .itl file and stored it in a temp directory for safe keeping, adding the date to the end of the file. I deleted the .itl file in the iTune directory and copied the .itl file from my temp directory into it, renamed the file so it was just iTunes Library.itl, relaunched iTunes and everything was fine.
The problem is, I keep having to do this, sometimes more than once a day. Sure it's a viable workaround but it's getting annoying.
Anyone else run into this and come up with a good permanent solution?

They are all mostly the same size at around 6MB but there are a couple that are very large 55MB (including the 30 tmp file I mentioned above. There is also one around 7KB). I tried renaming the most recent (as of 8:30PM last night) tmp file as iTunes Library.itl but when I launch iTunes, I get the "The file 'iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes" popup.
But when I go into a directory I created to get the most recent itl file I've been saving as a backup and copy it into the iTunes directory to replace the one that I tried to make with the tmp file, and launch iTunes, my whole library loads with no problem.
However, if history repeats itself, this will work for at most a couple of days before I have to copy the saved itl file back into the iTunes directory.

I would like to save disk space by putting my library on an external disk. How do I get Itunes to relate only to the external library?

I have run into problems doing this. Itunes only wants to recognize the library on my hard drive or the music in the cloud. It will not use the externally stored library as active for downloads and for syncing. All these problems make me wonder if Apple is exerting pressure to give up on the classic and buy a touch which will connect to the cloud itself.

How can I stop iTunes downloading every podcast from the cloud when I only want unplayed podcasts to show in iTunes?

When I set iTunes to automatically download all new episodes and only keep unplayed episodes, it downloads every episode in every one of my podcasts feeds. This means thousands of files, as not every XML feed hosts only a few files. Some host hundreds.
How can I get rid of all these podcasts that I don't want to display? The old way was a superior user experience to the way it is now.

My workaround for this is to set up a smart playlist. I hope this is another one of the issues that gets cleard up when Apple eventually releases an 11.1.1 update.

Are you using iTunes to play a backing track +at the same time+ as performing with MainStage?
Have you tried importing your iTunes tracks into Logic, where you will be able to mix them accurately? This could solve your problem, although you may want to convert any MP3s in Logic just to make them a bit easier to use (that might not be necessary, though).
