I have just switched from IE to safari and when I go on a band site it doesn't show the player and on an application all i see is a black background and links
how do i configure it so that it shows up everything like IE does?
ha ha i'm a safari virgin i downloaded it about half an hour ago

How do you get information on loaded fonts?

I've been working on a script and I need to query information from fonts. Specifically default kerning values between characters. For example (especially in serif fonts) the letters 'f' and 't' will have different kerning than the characters 'f' and 'y'. How do I query this info from a font in a script? I've been looking at textFrame.textRange.characterStyle.characterAttributes, but to no avail. Also, the reference for characterAttributes states that they have no default values, so I may be barking up the wrong tree.
Textfonts only has a few properties (family, name, style, etc). Is there any way to get more detailed info on fonts?
Edit: I think the proper name for what I am looking for is a 'kerning table'.

Now we have got the cell data from the table, say var data as I have mentioned above. Now to pass the parameters we can use the following code.
Say we want to pass the parameters to Main-View
and it has a input parameter defined ( A )
Controller.showMain_View({"A":data});
If there are two parameters to be passed (say A and B), you can use this code.

I noticed the problem after installing Firefox 4.0.1, but by uninstalling and reinstalling found it was also a problem with the previous version.
There are no boxes displayed on this form, but on my XP desktop computer, they are displayed. I have both open so I know where to type.
I installed Firefox on the XP virtual console on this machine and it worked fine, but not using Windows 7.
None of the posted suggestions for similar questions on this forum worked.

My IPAD2 seems to be frozen on updating apps , no visible updating happening . how can i get updates to load properly ?

My Ipad2 is in a constant state of updating apps for days / weeks . I have tried removing apps , freeing up Icloud space . my IPAD2 is ultra slow now too, compared to when I initially purchased it .

Try deleting the apps that are stuck
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

How do you get H.264 to work via Safari on an iPhone?

I am building a website for a director of photography and we are trying to get H.264 encoded movies to work on the iPhone as well as on a computer. They work fine on the computer but just get a question mark on the iPhone. One's using MPEG-4 work fine on it but the files are just so large as one of the movies is a 17min short film. Hence why I am now using H.264. AS the footage was all on DVD's I am using Handbrake but I am still waiting for my question to be posted since yesterday on that site. I am using Rapidweaver to build the site. I do know Quicktime on an iPhone is not fully featured so suspect that is the cause but just need to work out what I need to do differently.
Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Since HandBrake does not include an iPhone specific preset, we are left to guess whether you are usig the TV preset (not compatible), the iPod preset (should be compatible but dimensions/video data higher than needed), or a custom conversion using unspecified and possibly incompatible settings. Could give more specifics if you post a link to a sample file.
If you want to continue using HandBrake, try using the iPod preset and then cut the video data rate to 1000 Kbps and set the width to 480 with auto crop and "Keep Aspect Aatio" options set. (I also prefer "Slower" Deinterlace but that is up to you.) These settings should represent a fairly balanced optimization targeting iPhone use. Other options would be MPEG Streamclip (reguires the QT MPEG-2 Playback Component) or the Turbo.264 both of which have iPhone specific presets. I generally prefer the Turbo.264 for iPhone conversions as it is so much faster.

I am designing a site using Flash and I can't get any link to reuse the target window to open the same page using target="somename", it acts the same as target="_blank". Every time I click on it, it opens a new blank window even when the previous one is still open.
It also doesn't work in straight HTML.
This works fine on Windows machines using Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer, both with Flash and HTML.

how can you get a compilation album to show up as one album rather than be split up by song and artist? I've got loads of albums on iTunes that are compliations and they are all mixed up by track/ artist. Even when you click 'show album' it still just shows the album title and then the artist in alphabetical order - so the album is replicated several times

yes it could well do if your bank thinks there is something going on that is not from you they will block it. I have had this problem before, I would of thought they would of phoned me but they don't do that.
If I was you I would go to my bank make sure they are not doing anything like that. If they say it's all fine then i would phone up apple them self or go into my local apple store, as they should be able to look at what there servers are saying why it's not working.

Try these two ways to fix the iPhone (in order). If neither works, you would have to take it to the store.
1. Reset the iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons togehter for about 10 seconds. If it works, you'll get the Apple logo and then something good should happen.

Also, once this happens, do I have to delete the album and start over or is there a way to merge the albums in iTunes? Using iTunes 10.04.08.

And you've made me remember that using the compilation flag may only work in iTunes if you go into the Songs view, then use View > Column Browser > Show Column Browser and then View > Column Browser > Group Compilations to make sure this line is ticked.
It is also best if View > Column Browser > Use Album Artists is also ticked.
