How do you group icons together

Brand new to Mac systems. Can someone tell me if it's possible to group icons together. Ex: put all games in 1 folder. Thanks.

Touch and hold one of the apps and they should start shaking. Then drag one of them over the top of another and a folder should get created with those two apps in. You can then drag more apps over and into it, or create more folders in the same way (but you can't create folders within folders); press the home button when you've finished so as to stop the shaking. Some people find it easier to do when connected to iTunes using the device's apps tab it's easier to move things around via your computer, and changes don't get committed until you sync them onto the iPad.

How can I group books together in iTunes?

How can I group books together in iTunes? Some .pdf books will group but others won't even though they have the same Author, Album Name and are part of a Compilation. I have inserted a picture below to illustrate my point; as you can see, some issues of X-men have grouped together but others still show separately.

I have tried to attach the image again to show what I mean.
All the .pdf files I imported are tagged as Books and display properly in the books section. It is only the grouping that is not working. As can be seen in the picture, I don't want to actually merge the .pdfs to a single book, just group them into one 'Album' I suppose as turingtest2 says. However, I have set the Artist, Album Name and Grouping fields to be the same for all files, all are marked as part of a compilation but still only the first 3 X-men issues are grouping together. Any more ideas?

Hi All,
I have a results column in a report which basically show if the delievery was made on time/late/early. I also have a another column which shows icons as below.
On Time: ICON_LED_GREEN.
Late: : ICON_LED_RED.
Now what I am trying to do is in the same column I want to have 2 Icons. example i want to merge the following icons together,
ICON_LED_RED & ICON_LESS_RED in the field.
Is this possible? if so how

why you need to merge both the lights in a column when there is no need to have thse lights in ur column you just have to use them in your write statement.

How do you string integers together?

I have the task of creating a program that will give you the resistance in ohms based on the color bands on the resistor. (This is a problem for a Labview course I am taking)
I know this program could be done a lot more efficiently but I am still a beginner. My real question is kinda hard to explain and probably has a very easy solution. I have 3 case structures all are controlled by string controls. The resistance should appear in an indicator based on the color band colors. If there is a wrong color or mistyped color a led lights up. My question is How do you put the first 2 color bands together without using a mathematical function. For example if you have blue-grey-red your resistance is 6800 so the blue is 6 the grey is 8 and the red is x100. How do you get the 6 and the 8 together to make 68? I am also going to upload what I have so far so you can see how elementary this really is.
I have worked on it for 2 days now and cant get it right!!

Multiply 6 times 10 and add 8! Then multiply by the mutliplier.
You may want to turn your string controls into Enums that way the colors can be selectable from a list and you won't have to worry about someone misspelling a word.
(Gray vs. Grey could be a source of problem.) Another possibility would be a text ring control so that you can get the value stored with the color name as well.
Another cool thing you can do is use color boxes to recreate the actual color pattern on the display.

How do I group albums together on the latest version of iTunes?

When I upload albums to the latest version of iTunes, the songs seem to split the albums into many different "album" files. I want them grouped so that an album is all linked together in one album which I could do easily on a previous version of iTunes, but now, I cannot do it at all? Any help or advice?

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085#17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields. If they are not a multiple CD set you still need to make sure the disc number fields are set correctly or all empty.

How do you group connected objects?

Is there a way you can group objects (in my case text boxes) that have been connected? When I try to the "Group" button is greyed out, and if I group them first, I'm unable to connect them (greyed out).

You can't group them, but you can pass them through Preview and get them to one item. To do this, select them all and copy, them open Preview and command-n (or File>New from Clipboard), copy this and paste back into Keynote. Before you do this, make sure your text is how you want it as you can't change it after you do this.

The Categories feature was dropped in the new version. You can use the old version if you like. It's still there and still works the same as before.

How do you move icons

I just got my first smart phone and it's an Apple i5s, so long story short I'm new to these things. I'm trying to move icons from one screen to the another and I'm wondering how to do this. If I touch an icon and hold it for a few seconds the screen starts to shake and it appears as though I can move it around, but when I do it just goes back to its original location. Not a big problem, but any help would be appreciated.

You are doing it correctly.
Just keep trying. You will get the hang of it.
You can also arrange them from itunes on your computer.

Stay on the homescreen, press Menu, press Menu again. The option Shaw all will show you all hidenn icons. Move aplication will mohe the current chosen icon wherever you want, Hide aplication will hide the icon etc. You will quick enjoy all the features in this menu :-)

How do you add icons to Launch Pad

I just installed Lion and want to add icons to the Launch Pad, removing them from the dock. How do I do that? And, will it work with icons of apps that are not purchased from the App Store?

I am back. I have now sorted out my Launch Pad to be organized the way I want it. I have decluttered my Dock. Very nice.
Now I want to add some of the remaining icons for apps that did not automatically show up in Launch Pad. So, again, how do I do that?
