How do you identify a clipping path in CS5?

In CS2 the name of the path was outlined in the paths pallet. This does not seem to be the case in CS5.

For me the clipping path is in bold letters, but you can only
tell when the path is deselected in the paths panel (not active).
I know what you mean, for earlier versions, as most books seem to show clipping paths
that way (outline) in the paths palette, but photoshop 6 is installed on the same machine
and it shows clipping paths the same way cs5 does, so i'm not sure why some machines
display one way and others do not.

  • How do I keep my clipping path from shifting positions when I crop an image? [was: Question]

How do I keep my clipping path from shifting postitions when I crop an image?

The work path will remain positioned relative to the same underlying pixels after a crop.  Are you trying to position it relative to one or more image edges after cropping?  I don't think you can do that without moving the workpath after the crop.

  • CS4 Photoshop How do I reverse a clipping path.

I made a clipping path and accidently clipped the outside of the bottle instead of the bottle. How do I reverse the clipping path? I know there is some icon that is supposed to show up on the top control bar but I am not finding anything.
    Thank you.

Hi. Yes, options is checked. Yes, black arrow is selected.
No, those little boxes such as below - do not show up.
I'll be happy to attach a picture of what I have for screen shot if you can send me a way to do it. Thank you.  I am not getting a little camera icon. Usually to attach at the bottom it says something about attaching an image.

  • How do you bump a clip?

Just got CS4 for the Mac, and I'm trying to figure out something I remember doing a lot in CS2: how do you bump a clip (or group of clips), like 5 or 10 frames in either direction? I forget even the technical term for this. I have a lot of short clips I have to move back and forth, and a keyboard shortcut to quickly move them would really be handy.

  • How can you export a clip selection from FCPX to motion? Round tripping?

How do you export a clip selection out of FCP into Motion? In Motion, you have the option of exporting a selection out of motion? I don't understand why FCPX does not have this functionality. I do not want to export an effect or  transition. FCPX is good, but it looks like the application team have no clue about workflows. Especially integration between FCP and Motion.

Not sure if you are asking a question or having a rant .. also not sure what your point is about it being 2013 ? Roundtripping is not in these apps .. sold for very little (relative to FCS which did roundtripping) and most of the functionality used daily from Motion is now in FCPX in one way or another. Perhaps it would be a 'handy' but to highlight this as some BIG deal is a tad missing the point ... .
What exactly is it you cannot do in FCPX and need to send to Motion to work on ?
These may help you with the basics of new compound clips ...

How do you split a clip to do an insert edit in iMovie 08? I have a single, long event that I'd like to do insert editing on. I'd also like to insert transitions. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
    1) Move a clip (or any portion thereof) from your Event clip to your project and place it where you need it.
    2) With the newly added clip still selected in your project, grasp and move the right and left handles to set the exact frames you wish to use as your "in" and "out" points.
    3) Select the "Spit" option to segment the selected area into what you want to keep and what you don't need.
    4) Select the segment(s) you don't want and press the "Delete" key to remove it/them from the project window.
    5) Repeat as needed to create your sequence of segments and then add titles and transitions as needed.
Note: Since your editing in iMovie '08 is non-linear, non-destructive, and "by-reference," you can source the same content multiple times to a single project or even to multiple projects and overlap your "splits" since they are "logical" rather than physical.

  • How do you add the motion path of a tracking point to a separate clone stamp?

How do you add the motion path of a tracking point to a clone stamp without the clone stamp assuming the same initial/continuous positions of the tracking point?
Is there a way to keep the clone stamp's initial position and then add the path onto it?
I am using the clone stamp to remove unwanted duct tape that was used to keep lights on a wall.

I have spent two days trying to find a solution to this exact same problem. I have seen some overly complex solutions that probably work but trying to figure out the explanations is like trying to understand someone describe drag coefficients of rotary wing aircraft. While I am sure they work, they are way above my comprehension. I wanted an intuitive and straight forward solution for something that shouldn't require some arcane technique to fix.
    What I did:
    1) I used the Clone Stamp tool to paint over the spot on the wall I wanted to remove.
    2) picked a more easily discernible point of reference for Tracking. In my case, I used a poster on the wall.
    3) As per the instructions here, https://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/removing-an-object-with-clone-stamp, I pasted the Attach Point data from the Tracker into Clone -> Transform - > Position
However, that didn't work for me as the object I was painting was not the object I was tracking. The solution from the video was simply moving my cloned spot to the tracked object instead of leaving it where I wanted it. So...
    4)  I then manually adjusted the Anchor Point of the Clone back to the original spot I wanted to cover.
I played footage and the cloned region successfully moved with the spot I was covering.
This is what I was able to figure out. I'm not an advanced user. I only use After Effects every couple of months when I need to fix minor things in footage, so I've only learned to use what techniques I need for the job at hand. No doubt, experienced users may shake their heads at my simplistic fix. I'm sure my technique would be wholly inadequate for situations far more complex than fixing spots on a gray wall, which is why my eyeballs cross when reading suggestions that seem way more involved than one would expect for something as seemingly minor as this. It's just a spot! It should be super easy to remove, right? Well, that's what I was looking for and that's what I came up with. I hope it helps.

  • How do I change the color of the clipping path in CS5

Just installed Photoshop CS5 I use the pen to create a clipping path for isolation. In CS4 the path line always contrasted with the background I was working on. In CS5 it is only gray so I cannot work on grey background pics as I cannot see the path. How can I change it back to multi colored like CS4?
In CS4 I could change between gray & colored by enabling or disabling OpenGL Drawing from Edit->Preferences->Performance. This does not work for me in CS5. I really need the color as I am isolating a dark gray bike againsr a lighter gray wall. I keep loosing the curve handles against the wall.

Which means that the wall isn't neutral gray, it has some color in it. Anyway, that's beside the point. In CS5 they've changed the way they display paths when OpenGL is turned off (probably changed to another API behind the scenes) which caused these problems. If i've understood it correctly, this isn't a bug per se, it's just a limitation of the API that they're using now (lack of blend modes or some such).
If you want the old way back then you can try making a feature request/bug report here: https://www.adobe.com/go/wish

  • How do I transform a clipping path and layer at same time?

I have a bunch of images with clipping paths that need to be altered. Most images need skewed or distorted, and I can't figure out how to transform the path at the same time I transform the layer - so I do not have to create new paths. Thanks
    Working in Photoshop CS2

I’m afraid You will have to employ a workaround.
I would recommend applying the Path as a Vector Mask to the Layer (with the Path selected command-click on the Add Layer Mask-button in the Layers-panel), then transforming, subsequently duplicating the Vector Mask and removing it from the Layer.
Or copy-paste it into the existing Clipping Path and then remove it.
Some part of the procedure may be automate-able with Actions or Scripts and hopefully it will still save at least some time.

  • How do you identify the Logical system in start routine of a transformation

My scenario is this.  I have five r3 systems that I am extracting from.   In the start routine of the transformation from the r3 data source to my data store I  am going to delete data and I need to know the source system id.    How do I identify the logical system or source system id in the transformation.  Is there a system field that contains this information.    I do not want to hard code the source system id in the routine.

    hi
have a lool at tables rsreqdone and rsbkrequest with a join you should be able to determine the source.

  • How do I save a clipping path in Photoshop so that Quark gives me the option to change the path opti

I created a clipping path on a photo, clipping out a person's head so that I can have the person's head show up over the masthead on a cover.
But when I save the photo in Photoshop and then import it into Quark, the option where it says I can change the clipping options in Quark is greyed out.
This is what it says to possibly fix it on the Quark help page:
"You may want to choose "None" from the Clipping path pop-up menu when you save the image from Adobe Photoshop, so you can specify which path to use as the clipping path when you import the image into QuarkXPress. Or, you may want to choose a path from the Clipping path pop-up menu, so you can be sure only that path will be used to clip the image."
I don't understand what that refers to....I can't find anything like that in the Photoshop options.
My goal is to have the person's head over the text, with the rest of the photo still retained in the background. As it is now, I just get an import of the clipping path alone, with Quark substituting the background part of the photo with a white box.
    Thanks!

  • How do you identify your Mac mini 1.83Ghz between MB138LL/A and MA608LL/A?

A friend of mine told me, in Taiwan, it is possible to have an old 1.83Ghz Mac mini when you wanted to buy a new 1.83Ghz Mac.
If I decide to buy a 1.83Ghz Mac mini, how do I know if it's the 1.83GHz Mac mini (MB138LL/A), not a 1.83Ghz [MA608LL/A] one?
    How do I identify it?
We don't have a CPUID software for Mac OS, do we?

click on the apple button on the upper left hand of the screen.
click the first option (my mac is in german, so I dont know what the word is in english)
if it says "intel core 2 Duo" then you have a new one, and if it says "intel core duo" it is an old one

  • How do you send a clip to Motion and back?

I've done a search on the internet and I don't see a simple answer!
I've filmed some stuff which is shaky so I want to do this:
    Take the edited clip
    Put it in Motion
    Stabilize it
Bring it back to FCPX exactly where it is in the timeline
How are you guys doing this? My process of exporting/importing  seems very laborious!

Right click a clip or marked portion of it...
When you are finished in Motion, save the project in the same place as your other footage. It should replace the clip on your Timeline automatically.
