How do you import copyright controlled cds into Itunes?

Hi
how do you import copyright controlled cds into Itunes?
When i put the cd into my computer, Itunes does not read it like a regular cd. It does not show up in my source list.
I just want to put the songs on the cd onto my ipod.
The cd will play in windows media player and i was able to save the cd as wma files onto my computer, and then i tried to import those files, but Itunes says the file is copyright controlled, and the only way for itunes to import it is with the orignal cd? The original cd was in my D drive the whole time, but it still will not let me import.
I also tried physically looking into the CD for the music files, but those aren't there. The cd is like an enhanced cd where if you look into the drive for files there are no files except for 2 icons. The actual icon the open the player to play the cd and a uninstall icon.
does anyone know how to do this? PLEASE HELP!

I have downloaded the latest version of Itunes. I don't think that is the problem. Music companies have started issuing "copyright controlled" cds now especially on import versions of cds. I have the original cd, but Itunes cannot import it due to the copyright because it is protected. I read the "help" file on the cd, and what it does is you can play it as much as you like, you can make a copy of the cd only 3 times. The copy of the CD is also copyright protected. I have tried Itunes, WMA, Sonicstage, Sonic and etc programs, but nothing has worked.
Hopefully, someone from APPLE will now what I mean about the copyright controlled CDs. I only want to be able to listen to the music on my IPOD. Nothing has worked

  • How do you import a standalone track into a take folder?

    Hi folks,
I have a "take folder" with a few attempts at a vocal track, but before I learned about this feature, I recorded another take on the vocals, which is still a separate track, outside of the take folder with the other takes.  How do I move that first take into the take folder?  When I drag it in, it just replaces the entire contents of the take folder.
    Thanks!

What kind of file type did you get (what extension) - I guess those resulting files need further conversion to a file format that can be handled by iTunes.

  • Importing foreign-made CDs into iTunes

I've been trying to import files from an Australian-made CD into iTunes on my American-made G4, with only partial success. The files import as MPEG4s, the Gracenote database identifies the artist/songs, but the songs themselves won't play on iTunes or my iPod - or, rather, there's no sound as each file plays. I've adjusted Preferences to accept all data/CD formats and tried again - but no joy. I'm aware that foreign CDs are sometimes made in regional formats, but I'm having trouble finding out what those might be for Australia, and what I should do - can someone please help?

I'm aware that foreign CDs are sometimes made in regional formats
I think you're confusing that with Video DVDs. Audio CDs have no region coding. Audio CDs can have some kind of copy protection however, which prevents proper decoding or decoding at all.
Is there any indication on the jewel case that the CD is protected?

How can I import mpeg song files downloaded into itunes?

    Where are your MPEG stored?
I have hundreds of old MPEGs stored in my nexternal drive, but unfortunatly i was not able import them into iMovie. I did the following trick: I created a new set of a folder and subfolder and called it "Virtual_CAM/DCIM" and saved it on my desktop. Then went to Disk Utilities>File Menue>New>Disk Image from Folder. Then selected the folder on my desktop and clicked enter. I moved the .dmg file to my external (or just keep it on your desktop). I clicked on the .dmg file. It shoud be visible on the Finder. Open your Imovie and import as you do from your camera.

  • How to best import existing audio files into iTunes?

    Hello,
In sum, my question is:  What is the difference between adding music to iTunes Library by the following methods:
    Placing the audio files in the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' Folder;
Dragging the files from my hard drive to the Source Pane in iTunes; or
Using the File > Add Folder to Library dialogue?
Here are the particulars of my situation:
I have over 3,000 music files, and I would like to know the best way to get them into iTunes. From a lynda.com training video about using iTunes, I learned that there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes", which is monitored by iTunes for new files to import into the iTunes library. However, I would like to know if this is the *best* way to do this. For example, can I just *move* my 3,000 music files into this 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder and then let iTunes do its thing?
Will iTunes *move* the files that it is able to manage OUT of this folder and into one of its managed folders, such that there would be no duplicate file left behind? Is it correct in saying that the files that are left in this folder that were not able to be handled by iTunes and must be handled differently before they can be imported into iTunes? Or is there just an all around different, and better, way to get these music files into iTunes?
Thanks for your advice and opinions!
    ~Antonio

    Hello tt2,
I have given this a lot of thought and attention over the last few days.  As well, I appreciate very much your input and offers of help.
The major 'problem' that I have is that the files are most definitely not consistently named.  For example, they include the likes of the following:
    07 - Song Name - Song Artist.mp3
    01 - Song Artist_Song Name.wma
    Song Name [Song Artist].aac
And these are only examples, based on my trying to get across how variant the names are.  The actual file names are far more wildly various than even these, seemingly consistent file names.
So, this is what I was thinking of doing, per your suggestion:
An alternative aproach would be to use something like MediaMonkey (has advanced filename/path to tag tools) or MusicBrainz Picard (attempts to match audio fingerprints) to update the tags before the files get introduced to iTunes.
    Then...
    1. Move the files into the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder, then let iTunes have a go at getting them in to iTunes.
    2. Using either Tuneup or MusicBrainz Picard (Any comment on which is better?) to cleanup the file names (again) properly; and
    3. Then using your script to force iTunes to update itself, based on any new id3 data.
Does this sound like madness?  Or is it a good solution for this application?  I am very grateful for your, or any other, input.
    Take good care,
    ~Antonio

  • How do you import Maxthon bookmark folders into Firefox (without doing each .url individually)?

Hi, I am trying to import all my bookmarks from Maxthon into Firefox,. Problem is all my bookmarks are in folders, but Firefox Import will only let me do one bookmark at a time. Is there any way to import all folders at one time or at least folder by folder? Thank you very much if you can help.

The Maxthon support site mentions using "Favorites > More Actions > Export Favorites" to export the favorites. If that does not export all of the favorites then I can not help. You could ask on the Maxthon support site about how to export all of the favorites to an HTML file.

  • How do you import multiple iMovie projects into one iDVD project?

    Hi.
I'm 17, and am trying to create a DVD of when the family went on a cruise. For different places/days, I've created different iMovie projects.
But, when I want to export to iDVD, it only lets me put one iMovie project into one iDVD project?
I've tried dragging the actual iMovie project files into iDVD but that doesn't work.
I know I could export to QuickTime and then drag it into iDVD, but it seems exporting just to iDVD is much quicker, and the quality is better.
Anyone know how I can do this?
    cheers
+P.S. If it helps, it's iMovie '11 with iDVD '09.+

That is not true. You can use them all in one DVD. I have just created my first DVD which has a trailer, a movie with chapters and several different slide shows.
All you have to do is save each project to Media Browser. (Choose Share in toolbar). Open iDVD and choose your theme or no theme. On the right will be all your options such as audio, media photo's etc. Choose your various video's/projects etc and just drag and drop which ones you want to the page and they will automatically put themselves there with the given name of each video/project.

  • How can I import an m3u playlist into iTunes that intentionally contains duplicate tracks? I want the duplicates in this case.

For instance, if my M3u file looks like the 2 lines below, only one copy of the mp3 file is imported. I'd like the same track to be imported twice.
    Back To Black.mp3
    Back To Black.mp3
btw, the reason I'd like this to work is that I use a separater track in playlists between groups of similar tracks. This separater is not being imported correctly as is being unhelpfully recognised as an unwanted duplicate.
    Any advice appreciated.

    I just did the following.
Created a m3u file with a series of tracks with one entry duplicated.
Made a new empty playlist in a test iTunes library which did not contain the files and dragged the m3u file to that playlist.
It created a duplicate playlist entry for that one duplicated track but of course it points to the same file.  If you really want iTunes to duplicate the file you will have to trick it into thinking it is a different file.  Using your library management preferences (which are identical to mine) you will have to duplicate the file in Finder so you really do have two files and add it again.  Perhaps if iTunes was managing the media it would not behave that way and might add the file twice since dragging to iTunes with default preferences settings just places a copy on the iTunes folder and leaves the original in place, so you'd be dong hte equivalent of dragging twice (I'd have to test to check this since I don't use default settings either).  With your settings it just refers to the original wherever it is.  Hopefully I've phrased that well enough.

  • Are there step by step instructions to import Audio Book cds into iTunes 12 on Mac?

In iTunes 11, I could see the Audio book CD come up in the left hand column ABOVE my Playlists. I would simply create a new playlist, then click the CD icon, which would open, showing all the tracks in the right hand window. I could simply select all those tracks and then drag them to the left into the waiting Playlist, and it would burn. What is the process now? Thank you!

Ripped, yes, thank you. My window does not look the same: at the top, I can click Playlists and those show. The CD I've got in my drive used to show above that, including the title. Now I can click the CD icon to the left of the My Music, Playlists, Radio & iTunes store and then the window no longer shows the playlists, just the CD's track names and numbers. Can I have both windows open at once so I can drag to the playlists to rip?

  • How do you transfer songs from ipod into itunes library

I have recently purchased an apple mac and am trying to transfer my songs (which I previously uploaded from CD's) to the itunes library but with no success.  does anyone know how to do this?  Thanks

Some of the information below is summarized by turingtest2 in the post at https://discussions.apple.com/message/18842615
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
