How do you import songs into a new iTunes library from a Touch?

I downloaded iTunes on a new PC laptop but, I'm unable to import the songs that are on the Touch, to the new iTunes library.
The songs that are on the Touch are all iTunes purchased songs and these songs are based in a iTunes library that is on the old laptop that no longer works. iTunes on the old laptop cannot be accessed and there was no cd-dvd back up done for this library.
When the Touch is connected to iTunes on the new laptop, the songs on the Touch do appear in a music folder under the device heading which is fine but, because these songs can't be imported into the new library, they cannot be backed up as far as I know.
Otherwise, everything regarding iTunes is working as it should be on the new laptop.
Since I'm dealing only with iTunes purchased songs, iTunes, and a Apple device, there must be some way of adding the songs from the Touch into the new library.
I've done a Google search about this and any of the suggestions I've tried, haven't worked.
The OS on the new laptop, is Windows 7.
If someone can offer some help on this, it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Your suggestions worked.
Had to do the authorize step first and then I was able to re-download the songs into the new library.
Thanks

  • Please help - how do I import music from my ipod into a new itunes library?

    Hello
I would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me how to get the music from my old ipod mini into the new itunes library on my new laptop.
The mini was previously sync'd with my old PC which died so my files are only present on the ipod. Upon loading itunes, the software is only letting my sync the ipod providing I wipe it (obviously not desirable...)
    Thanks for any support, Andy

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" as you already know will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

If you can open a Finder Window to your photos, you can drag them in to an iMovie project from the Finder.
Some third party apps might support drag and drop, but I haven't got Lightroom to test it. If drag and drop from LightRoom does not work, try exporting from LightRoom into a Finder folder and drag them in from there.

  • I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers.

I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers. and both are on a stable wireless connection

Logging into itunes store on each machine wth different Apple IDs is OK Autorising each others machines with the other Apple ID is OK. This is completley separate from Home Sharing
For Home Sharing to work you need to
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share.
You need to select one of the two Apple IDs you are using and ENTER THIS ON BOTH MACHINES WHEN CREATING THE HOME SHARE.
    Home sharing will then work

  • Have old ipod nano (2nd generation) with music from an old itunes account ... I have new itunes account now...how do I get my old purchased music into my new itunes library?

    Hi sid1010,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You can redownload music that you have purchased directly to your iTunes Library.  Here's how:

How do you encrypt voice memos in the itunes library so no one else at your computer can listen to them?

iTunes has no ability to encrypt anything. You'll need to search for encryption software appropriate for whatever type of computer you have. Or, you could set up separate accounts for other users of your computer and password your account.

  • My laptop recently crashed and had to be restored back to it's original factory settings. I lost my entire iTunes library and have had to start from scratch again. Is it possible to load everything i currently have on my iphone4 into my new iTunes library

When i connect my iphone to the new iTunes library it tells me that it's going to erase everything on my iphone and upload everything from the new iTunes library onto it. Is there a way to save everything on my phone into the new iTunes library?

Thanks for all of your advice.
I just downloaded a copy of TuneJack for the small price of $9.95.
It retrieved all my music from my iphone and loaded it all straight into my iTunes library for me all at a click of a button and only took a few minutes.
Problem solved I can stop stressing now!

  • How to create new iTunes library from songs on external drive

I've seen numerous questions about moving an iTunes library TO an external library, but I want to do the reverse. I have a brand new iTunes program on my (brand new) Mac, and I have a large song collection (140 gigs) on an external drive. How do I put the song names into my Mac iTunes library without actually downloading the songs to the computer? I don't want to clog up the Mac with 14000 songs, I'd rather just have it access the drive to play the tunes.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

    Hi Ron,
A couple ways to go about it. One is to simply go into iTunes preferences and under the Advanced tab DE-select (un check) the "Copy Files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" option. Now when you add your external drive tracks they will remain where they are and are just added to the library listing and will be played from the external location.
Keep in mind that this will happen to ALL songs you add to your library. So if you add one from your download folder and another from a server, etc. they will not be copied in and accessed from that location. If you like, you can always uncheck that, add your 140GB of external tracks, then when it is done, reselect that option so all other things added to your iTunes get copied into the iTunes Folder on your internal drive.
Are the tracks on the external drive arranged in any sort of special organization you want to keep? Or would you be willing to resort them a bit and let iTunes manage the organization? If you are will to let iTunes do the managing, you can set it up so everything goes onto the external and all your existing tracks will get organized by iTunes.

  • How can I drag multiple photos into a new iPhoto library from search box?

I lost but found my list of photos that were in my iPhoto library. I am unable to drag more than one photo at a time from the search box into the new iPhoto library box. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to drag one at a time? (That would take hours.) Please help if you can!
    Thanks,
    Laure

    Roam,
Thanks again. I know how to highlight and drag multiple photos or a list of files, but the only place I found my list was by going to Finder>File>Find then a dialogue box comes up. In the dialogue box I put in iPhoto and checked that then put in "kind" "is" "image" and "size" "is greater than" "30" KB. When I click search, the entire list from my library comes up but that is when I am unable to drag more than one file at a time. The box that comes up when I search isn't (at least I don't think it is) a "folder" as such. Any suggesttions?

  • How do you "power search"on the new  itunes?

How does one power search on the new itunes? Is it still possible?

In addition, since that search window is part of the iTunes' Main Page, I have to wait for that page to load before I can do my search. Before, I could click on the Power Search link, and it would abandon the load and bring me to the Power Search page. Now, since the Main Page takes so long to load, I have to wait for that to finish before I can search.
In other words, I have to wait for iTunes to show me what it wants me to buy, before I can tell it what I want to buy.
Kinda like going into a record store and getting a saleman who tries to sell me the latest hits before he will listen to what it is I came in to buy. The attitude is completely wrong.
