I just purchase songs from ITunes...
You made a mistake already.  If you want MP3s, it is better to avoid the iTunes Store altogether, and buy songs in MP3 format (e.g. from Amazon Digital Music or other source).
But all is not lost.  First check whether your MP3 player can play songs in AAC format.  If yes, continue to next step.  If not, convert your Purchased AAC files to MP3 per this guide:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
Once you have them in the right format, add them to the MP3 player.  iTunes is not capable of automatically syncing a non-Apple device.  However, for most players you can connect via USB, highlight the tracks you want from iTunes, and drag them into the player.

  • How do I download songs to my MP3 player?

I purchased an MP3 player for my son and wanted to surprise him with his favorite songs downloaded from iTunes. The MP3 player is a Phillips Model # HDD082/17. It says it can be used for Windows Media Player and comes with software for this, but I am wondering if I cannot use iTunes for downloads. I don't know how to do this, though. I have purchased the songs and have them in my library, but I don't know how to get them into the MP3 player. Any suggestions? Thanks

It really depends on whether iTunes works with your MP3 player. Some players come with 'plug-ins' that add to iTunes. It's most likely that this won't be the case resulting in the following options:
    a) Try using the MP3 software that comes with the player - if it works with Mac. Under this circumstance you'd only use iTunes as a means of buying the songs and ripping to Audio CD.
    b) There's also lots of Mac software available for managing MP3s outside of iTunes. Have a look at versiontracker.
For example, you may find that Thrupp suits your needs:
    http://www.utsire.com/thrupp/
    c) Really a last resort: Drag and drop the MP3s from your iTunes library into the MP3 player. Most MP3 players will appear as a hard disk on your desktop. Provided that you comply with the way the player expects the music to be filed this should work.

  • How do you import music onto ITUNES if you have two IPODS

Question: I have two IPODS. I can't seem to figure out how to import all the music on my old IPOD onto ITUNES so I can put new music in my library as well as m new IPOD. Can you please help! Also, when I plug in my old IPOD it says it is in WIndows format. Is this a problem.
    Thanks,

Macs can read Windows formatting so you should have no problem using your iPod with your Macbook. One proviso is that up until now Apple has only fully supported using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac (unless the range has been expanded to include the iPhone and the iPod Touch which I've no experience of). What this means effectively is that if you need to apply a firmware update for your iPod and you wanted to maintain the Windows format you would have to do it on a PC. If you were to try and update a Windows based iPod on a Mac it would be restored and reformatted to the Mac file system and have the Mac firmware installed.
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I'm a newb-how do you get songs onto ipod nano?

i have iTunes, but i don't know how to get songs off iTunes, onto iPod, help!

Firstly, you must put some songs into your iTunes, e.g. rip the song from the CD. Once the song appear on the iTunes, connect your iPod with your computer, and a window will pop up and you need to register your iPod with the iTunes, then make a choice whether you would like to do a sync manually or auto.
By the way, seems that you are using window 98, I am not too sure whether it manages to support the iPod Nano, you need minimum XP or 2000

  • How do you import songs from your phone into another computer im on home sharing but it wants to wipe my music clean off when i clink to sync?

trying to sync my old phone into a home sharing laptop to update all my music but unfortunatley it just wants to wipe clean my iphone of all the music ive purchased over the last year - how can i update this new itunes with a few songs already on it - from my phone, without losing any songs?

The iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another it will erase the current content from the iphone and repalce with content from the new computer.

  • How do you import songs into a new iTunes library from a Touch?

I downloaded iTunes on a new PC laptop but, I'm unable to import the songs that are on the Touch, to the new iTunes library.
The songs that are on the Touch are all iTunes purchased songs and these songs are based in a iTunes library that is on the old laptop that no longer works. iTunes on the old laptop cannot be accessed and there was no cd-dvd back up done for this library.
When the Touch is connected to iTunes on the new laptop, the songs on the Touch do appear in a music folder under the device heading which is fine but, because these songs can't be imported into the new library, they cannot be backed up as far as I know.
Otherwise, everything regarding iTunes is working as it should be on the new laptop.
Since I'm dealing only with iTunes purchased songs, iTunes, and a Apple device, there must be some way of adding the songs from the Touch into the new library.
I've done a Google search about this and any of the suggestions I've tried, haven't worked.
The OS on the new laptop, is Windows 7.
If someone can offer some help on this, it would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Your suggestions worked.
Had to do the authorize step first and then I was able to re-download the songs into the new library.
    Thanks

  • How do you import songs from a CD using an external disk drive?

I'm using a Mac Mini (one year old) and a Memorex DVD drive (who knows what age it is; it's connected through USB), which I previously used to install Spore, so I know that it works, but it doesn't recognize the CD. Running Mavericks.

I realized after typing that I can edit my data to show my device. Huh.

  • Putting itunes songs onto a mp3 player that isn't and ipod

Hi, I have no idea how to change the format of the songs i've downloaded in itunes so i can put them on my phone. My phones only accepts mp3, aac, m3u and mp4 files and isn't recognising the itunes files. Any ideas i would really appreciate...

Purchases from the iTunes music store have .m4p file extensions. So if your phone says it can accept those, they should work.
There is a forum especially for iTunes-enable phones,
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=794
You might have better luck over there. But I don't see any messages about Nokia phones - it's all Motorola-type phones like RAZR, SLVR, etc.

How do you import mp3s to latest version of I-Tunes?

File menu -> Add to Library. If you don't see the menus, press Control-B.
Or you can just drag the track files into the iTunes window. You may need to be in the Songs view, though I haven't experimented with other views.

  • MISSING ITUNES SONGS AND HOW CAN YOU PUT SONGS FROM IPOD ONTO ITUNES?

i opened my itunes one day and all 654 of my songs were GONE. the entire itunes was blank, as if it was newly installed. it wasn't.
I have an ipod mini, and that still contains the songs since i did not attach my ipod to my computer when i saw that it was empty. my ipod still has 654 songs. But the problem is, that i wont be able to put new songs if my itunes is blank.
How do you transfer songs from the ipod to the itunes? Usually when you connect the ipod, it automatically updates, so how will i be able to do that. I have new CDs and i want to put some of those songs on my ipod, but i wont be able to do that if my itunes makes my ipod blank. I called apple support but it costs 29 freaking dollars to help me.
    Can anyone help?
      Windows XP

okay, well it has been a long time since i have done this, but i will try to do it to the best of my memory.
    uninstall itunes.
    then reinstall it.
    plug your ipod in.
a box will pop up that says something like would you like to connect your ipod to this library?
    click NO.
then, on the sidebar there should be a boldfaced DEVICE sign.
    your ipod should show up.
    go to summary
then check managely manage my music, and then update.
this means that when you plug your ipod in, you will have to put the music in yourself. this is good because you can pick and choose, and you can delete songs off your ipod if you do not like it anymore. also, you have the ability to play the music on your computer when your ipod is plugged in. hope that helps..
