How do you insert special characters with imovie 08?

How do you insert special characters into a project
with imovie 08?

Don't think that would work. Since my "system date" is already set at 2007. I have 2 imports, one has the year as 2048, and the other at 2016!! I don't know where they are getting these dates from, but they are not the system date.
Were the files imported directly from a camcorder or from files already on your hard drive? In the first case the year may have been taken from the time "stamp" recorded when the footage was shot (which may or may not have been correctly set by the user). On the other hand, files imported from the hard drive seem to be keyed to the date the imported file is written to the "Events" folder which, of course, reflects the current system time/date setting. That's why I said you had to then import (re-import) the files from a hard drive source -- i.e., to ensure the DTG would be re-written.

  • In Font Book OS 10.8.5 how do you insert a character with Font like you could in 10.6

    In OS 10.6 I could go >edit>special characters: view glyph, glyph Catalog, Font: <font name> and I would see a table of each character in a font. Then, I could select a character and either drag it to my document or click Insert Font in the lower right hand corner and it would put the character into the document.
    How do I do the same thing in OS 10.8.5? How do I insert a character into a document through fontbook or any other manner?

    You need to use another app for this, like Ultra Character Map or Popchar.
    This should only be necessary if you are using a non-standard font, which may not be a good idea (since there is no guarantee your glyph will be seen by anyone else).  If the character exists in Unicode, you should be able to find it in Character Viewer and input via double-click or drag/drop.
    If you provide examples of what you need to input, I can perhaps tell you how to find them.

  • How do you add special Characters???

    Does anyone know how to add special characters like accents to words in pages '08???

    There are several other threads that deal with this in detail.
    On the Mac since almost day one, most of the accents are created by first typing option plus one of the vowels/consonants, followed by the vowel/consonants to which the accent is added. Some are direct alternatives, try them and see what they do.
    eg
    *Indirect accents*
    option e plus e = é also á, é, í, ó, ú
    option i plus e = ê also î, â, ô, û
    option u plus e = ë, ï, ä, ü, ö
    option n plus n = ñ
    *Direct accents*
    option a = å
    option o plus e = ø
    option c = ç
    option s = ß (now obsoleted)
    option w = ∑ (because it looks like a sideways w)
    option f = ƒ
    option t = †
    option v = √ (square root character, which looks like a v)
    etc
    I have always marvelled at the common sense approach that Apple used compared with the way the Windows programmers did it.
    To delve into the much more intricate world of Unicode characters go to:

  • How to you enforce special characters under Authentication in the CMC?

    Is there a way to to enfoce special characters in the password for user authentication?  I do know BO XI R2 SP3 does allow special characters, but I would like to notify users when they get prompt to change their password.

    Margaret,
    Using the CMC, navigate to the entry entitled "Authentication", next choose the tab "Enterprise".
    There are two key options (they appear towards the top), and here is a brief explanation of these:
    When you enable the enforce mixed-case passwords option, then it ensures that passwords contain at least two of the following character classes: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, or punctuation.
    The second option, must contain at least (N) characters stipulates the minimum length that a user can choose for his or her password.
    From a practical point of view, I would say that if you have the first option taken (enforce mixed-case), then your next option should be set at no lower than 8.
    As far as educating the user, this is done externally from the web page when it presents to the user (the user gets three prompts:  old password, new password, and re-type new password).  As far as a clue to using at least two of the upper/lower/number/punctuation in their password, I don't know how you communicate that other than an internally circulated "Introduction to Our System" handout and you include this tidbit amongst other details you'd like your users to know, etc, etc.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Insert special characters with laptop keyboard

    In Linux Thunderbird is there a keyboard shortcut alternative to insert>Characters and symbols ?
    I have tried various combinations of fn-alt-shift ctrl but none seem to work.

    Assuming English US version, Alt+I followed by Alt+C.
    If you look in the menus (the ones from the full menu bar, not always the ones from the ≡ application button), they show a Ctrl+''x'' for the keyboard shortcut. Also, each menu item has a bar underneath its accessibility key, which can be used along with the Alt key to navigate them without the mouse.

    OK Here you are:

              int i, len = string.length();
              StringBuffer dest = new StringBuffer(len);
              char c;
              for (i = (len - 1); i >= 0; i--)
                   c = string.charAt(i);

  • How can I distinguish special characters or signs in Doc through VBA?

    How can I distinguish special characters or signs in Doc through VBA?
    I have a few large documents written in word 2003 format and now I work on them under word 2007.
    Such large documents containing lots of special characters.  I want to change them into Microsoft 3.0 equation form(It is required by the team). I find no way but using function AddOLEObject and  Sendkeys through VBA. Common characters can be added
    to equation by function Sendkeys, but the return value of Asc() or AscW() for "double arrow", "in" , " not greater than " such special characters or signs, to name but a few are the same ,i.e., 40 And I cannot distinguish them.
    I found the link http://msdn.itags.org/word/44333/ may be of use to me, and the title is:
    How to read symbols from a DOC documents! (Microsoft Word)
     the original question is
    Using function "InsertSymbol", I can insert a symbol into a document. But
    how can I read a symbol from a document?
    Using "Characters(i).range.text", I can read a char. But when meeting a
    symbol, the value of "Characters(i).range.text" is always '('.How can I get the CharacterNumber of the symbol.
    And the final answer is :
    Hi chenfeng,
    Word protects symbols from symbol fonts if you insert them from the "Insert
    > Symbol" dialog.
    This is done so they aren't changed when you change the font or style. But
    it also results in Word reporting AscW( ) = 40 on all of them.
    I've posted a macro to "unprotect" them (or to protect them again if you
    want) ... just today again in

    with subscripts and superscripts to Microsoft 3.0 equation form.

  • Oracle and PHP - insert special characters problem

    I have computer with these software:
    Fedora Core 4
    Apache 2.0.54
    PHP 5.0.4
    Oracle 10.2.0
    Firefox (character set: UTF8)
    System environment:
    [oracle@computer /] echo $ORACLE_HOME
    /db/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1
    [oracle@computer /] echo $NLS_LANG
    SLOVENIAN_SLOVENIA.AL32UTF8
    I get this for every user, because I have in /etc/profiles:
    NLS_LANG=SLOVENIAN_SLOVENIA.AL32UTF8; export NLS_LANG;
    ORACLE_HOME=/db/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1; export ORACLE_HOME;
    Oracle NLS parameters:
    SQL> SELECT NLS_LANGUAGE, NLS_TERRITORY, NLS_CHARACTERSET FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS;
    SLOVENIAN, SLOVENIA, AL32UTF8
    And similar for NLS_INSTANCE_PARAMETERS and NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS.
    phpinfo() returns:
    Apache Environment
    Variable     Value
    NLS_LANG      SLOVENIAN_SLOVENIA.AL32UTF8
    In /etc/php.ini I have:
    default_charset = "UTF-8"
    mbstring.internal_encoding = UTF-8
    In /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
    SetEnv NLS_LANG SLOVENIAN_SLOVENIA.AL32UTF8
    In my PHP script "oracle.php" (file encoding is UTF-8) I have:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8" >
    putenv("NLS_LANG=SLOVENIAN_SLOVENIA.AL32UTF8");
    And then code similar to Example 2 in: http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.oci8.php
    Problem
    When I am trying with PHP insert character "š" ( http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/0161/index.htm ) or some other special character into Oracle table and then do SELECT from this table I get value "??" which is wrong.
    There is no problem for example with char "a". There is no problem inserting data with SQLPlus or Toad for Oracle - inserted data is always correct. There is no problem for example with echo("some_special_sharacters"); in PHP. I have no problems inserting data with PHP to MySQL database.
    I have read this, but problem still exists:

  • How to replace XML special characters using Xpress e.g. ' = '

    Hellos
    I need to write some XML built from resource data.
    The resource data strings can contain anything e.g. & ' " < and > characters.
    How do I replace these characters with the strings & &apos; " etc.... from within Xpress?
    I try something like:-
    <set name='testchar'>
    <switch>
    <ref>thisLetter</ref>
    <case>
    <s>'</s>
    <s>&apos;</s>
    </case>
    <case>
    <s>"</s>
    <s>"</s>
    </case>
    <case default='true'>
    <ref>thisLetter</ref>
    </case>
    </switch>
    </set>
    But when saved the <s>&apos;</s> gets saved as <s>'</s>
    Is this impossible with Xpress forcing me to invoke my own Java class? (which is a pain to do because of internal politics re restarting of App Server).

    Hmmmm seems there is transformation in this set up too.
    What I am trying to do is to parse a string which may or may not contain XML special characters into an XML acceptable string.
    e.g. transform the surname O'Connor into O&apos ;Connor (with no embedded blank)
    I wish to write a rule which uses XPress language to achieve this.
    I want to convert the character ' into the string &apos ; (with no blank between apos and ;) and similar for the other XML specials.
    Is this possible?
