How do you install "Classic Mode"? The online guide doesn't match what I have?

HI -- I have a MacBook Pro and need to install Classic Mode so my kids can play some of their games ... I looked online, got instructions to go to the disks that came with my computer and that Classic Mode would be there. But it isn't. What am I missing???

There might be a terminology issue here.
Classic is the ability to run OS 9 programs on PPC-based OSX computers. It would not have been included with a MacBook Pro which runs an Intel processor.
Rosetta allows an Intel-based computer to run PPC based *OSX* programs. It will not allow you to run programs that required OS9. This *is* included with your MacBook Pro.
Are these OS9 (or below) games or PPC games for OSX?

OK bad news I'm afraid.
I have just double checked the list of supported cameras and it looks like the Nikon D7100 isn't supported by PSE 10.
You will need to buy PSE 11 or use the free Adobe DNG converter. That will take the NEF files and convert them to DNG files which can theen be used in PSE.

Hmmm? A quick google search for external optical readers turns up many in the $20-$40 (USD) range. Didn't convert to £ or include any VAT charges, but you should be able to get something significantly cheaper than £70. That's your simplest solution.

How can you FORCE Classic mode to run on an Intel Mac? OS 9 emulation Rosetta Software Design

Hello everyone, I had a few thoughts on running Classic mode on intel macs which I wanted to share.
Now I know little about software design, but maybe someone who does could tell me if these ideas I had are at all feasible:
Now in the first place I now that, technically, "Classic" mode went out back with Tiger because of the switch to Intel chips. Switching to Intel, Rosetta was required to "translate" pre and non-intel OSX applications, with the exception of Classic since Rosetta does not translate deep enough into the system to do that. As a substitute to Classic, SheepShaver, Basilisk II, etc. can be used to emulate OS 9, but these are very lousy applications compared to Classic mode.
Is there ANY way whatsoever Rosetta could be edited, or Classic itself so that it will work on intel macs?
(that is, with the exception of 10.7+ systems since these don't even use Rosetta)
I know if Classic was placed on an intel mac, it would tell you to download Rosetta, but from there will crashes because frameworks in the system's library does not support (or was not designed for) Classic...
So what I wanted to know:
What if an old, Classic supporting PowerPC system's library folder was added to an Intel computer in a location other then that computers real system folder (as not to confuse the real, current system) and Classic manually edited so that it would search for the needed frameworks/etc files in the new location? Would it work?
Since, after all, it now has the correct "system" to run on (which before Rosetta could not convert), do you think there's any chance it would work and function properly?
Now beyond that, I wouldn't know the actual results (or consequences). I suppose the main problem to consider would be that the the PPC's system frameworks/etc wouldn't work at all on an Intel (which leads us back to Rosetta lacking in this area), and since those frameworks will be searching for other files in the system library (which would bring them to the current, Intel system) the same results would happen: crash! Or maybe sensing the system was mixed up, one or more files would try to "fix" themselves, and in turn destroy the computer's real system.
So, would it be worth a try?
I'd love to hear any other thoughts on running Classic on Intel...

There is an "easier" way to acquire SheepShaver called Chubby Bunny and I have put together a post with some safe links that are relevant to this topic. I see that emaculation is one of them.

With the newer Intel Macs, you have to run a Classic emulator such as SheepShaver, which requires you to extract the Mac ROMs from your older Classic Mac and then install Mac OS 9.
A related program is Chubby Bunny, which comes bundled with all of that included.

HELP - How do you install classic without erasing OS 10.4.8

Please help....I just replaced my PowerBook G4 with a new MacBook and would like to pass the G4 down to my daughter. Most of the games that she uses are in classic from her old Imac. My G4 came with classic but I had to reinstall OSX a while ago and never put classic back in. I can't get it to boot from any OS CD that I have, please advise.

The Classic files for your PowerBook G4 are on the original install DVD that came with it.
A Panther (10.3.x) install set of DVD/CDs most probably?
Anyway, insert this original install disc, and look for "Classic Support" installer, something like that.
Double-click, follow the prompts.
Classic will get installed without changing anything to the existing Tiger installation, just like it would do with the original OS (Panther or Jaguar?).
If you don't find anything like "Classic Support Something":
Some original installations came through a first step of installing an additional software installer (example my iMac G4).
- No problem: In that case, you'll have to double-click the Mac OS X installation icon first, then instead of reinstalling Mac OS X, you'll find your way to a Custom Installation of additional/bundled software.
Proceed to install Classic.
Here too, it'll get installed without modifying your OS (whether it is the original one or your newly installed Tiger).

I've downloaded and unzipped firefox 3 times in the last 9 months. Every time I try to find something to click on to install and and can't. I try pkgadd in various places and it never finds any packages. How do you actually install this thing on a Solaris box?

libjavaplugin_oji.so is the classic Java plugin. Curent Firefox versions need the Next Generation Java plugin (libnpjp2.so)

Does your Lenovo have a USB 2.0, or 3.0, or a FireWire port?
If so, then I see two methods, but they will involve other equipment, at some point:
Curt's suggestion should work just fine. However, you will need a computer WITH a multi-drive (either internal, or external). With that other computer (maybe even one on display in a computer/electronics store, or at a friend's house), just Copy the full installation disc(s) to a USB thumbdrive, and insert that into the USB port on the Lenovo.
Borrow, or buy, an external USB 2.0, or 3.0, or FireWire multi-drive, and use that to install from. If you borrow, I think that I would do it very slightly differently, and would Copy the installation disc(s) to my internal HDD, and install from there.
Possibility would be to download the program's installation file(s) for the trial (say from ProDesignTools - be sure to read ALL instructions carefully), install, then plug in your S/N to convert that trial to the full-paid version, and Activate. Obviously, you will need an Internet connection for this method. However, since you are posting here, it is very likely that you have an Internet connection available somewhere. This would probably be the way to go, if your Lenovo does not have USB, or FW.

On your PC, create a playlist called something like "Touch"
Add everything you want to download to your touch to the playlist.
Wait a minute or two and then open the music App on your touch.
Find the playlist and scroll to the bottom.
Click "Download All"

I re-installed Windows 7, and now itunes doesn't match what's on my ipod touch. How can I sync from the device back onto the laptop?

I've lost all my playlists, and itunes has included all the albums from the My Music folder that were not included for reasons of space in the previous version. In afraid you can only transfer songs from your iPod if you use "Transfer purchases" on iTunes Menu> Device.
This thing is better than move the folder from your device because iTunes use a different method to sync songs and app.

OK seriously, I did not want to make you feel stupid, it was in fact the first thing that came to my mind. Now, if you got something from Costco, there is probably a box or a CD with it, which should tell you whether it is a PC version or a Mac version. These apps usually come with items like a camera or maybe a scanner included. Please take the time and check what you got. If there is nothing on the disk telling you it's a Mac-version, youprobably got the wrong thing.
The Mac version is available via Adobe's website, just look for Photoshop Elements 9, that's the current version. There even is a trial available.

How do you install a Digital ID Certificate for use on iPod Touch?

On my iPod Touch there is a button to turn on s/mime under settings, mail/calender, accounts, advanced but it says there are no certificates installed. So, if you had a certificate from a COA how would you install it on the iPod Touch? I have heard of configuration profile utility for the iPhone but isn't that for companies or buisnesses to use?

Hi,
One way is to email your cert to yourself; another is to use cloud-based storage (e.g., Dropbox) that allows you to reference files via URL. In either case, once the file is selected it will be recognized as a digital certificate and you will be asked if you want to install it.

First thing is I want to complain about this person here:  I had some questions on a product and called up and got Charly 1-20295539207. He was horribly incompetent. He took 30 minutes just to, "get my information" which only consisted of just email and name. How can it take 30 minutes for that????? But trust me, Charlie absolutely makes it easy to waste that much time and still not get an answer to your question. So after he spent 30 minutes gathering my, "info" (i.e. name and email) he told me he could not help me and to call back even though I told him 3 times up-front what I was calling about. All of the Sony reps are the absolute worst and they all have the same idiosyncracies, making you repeat your issue over and over and over and over being one of them. Then, after you tell them what the issue is - 4-5 times, they say, "How can I help you"????????? WHAT???? I JUST TOLD YOU 4-5 TIMES AND THEN THEY ASK SOME OBNOXIOUS AGGRAVATING QUESTION LIKE THAT?   You have to be kidding me? I am not making any of this up. It's absolutely abusurd and criminal how the sony reps are. HELP - how do you save pictures through the recovery mode?

How do you save pictures through the recovery mode. I have the black screen with cursor and despite trying all the tips noted here nothing seems to fix the issue. These have included using Utility disk to re-install OS-X, repairing the disks. Also tried the holding shift on start up and entering username and password. Also tried internet recovery and then repair and re-install. Nothing works!
Happy to restore from a back up, but I have been rubbish and not backed up for a long time. Also happy to delete and re-install completely but don't want to loose pics.
Please let me know any suggestions!!
