How do you install CS5 onto a new computer without Time Machine/file transfer

I'm not getting a new computer, but my current one is getting a little old (Macbook Pro V. 10.6.8) and I'm afraid it might crash if I download the newest Maverick system, which is why I want to make absolutely sure I'm able to save and transfer all my old files and CS5 Creative Suite programs if this indeed happens. I don't trust Time Machine to do it; my boss had this happen and Time Machine did not transfer the Adobe programs. I also don't want to rely on Time Machine and any other file transfer (which all new Macs offer) because I've had brand new computers crash because of old corrupt files from my old computer converting over, and the Apple people said it's a bad idea (which would have been nice to know BEFORE the computer crashed and everything. . .) I've been told you can only use the CD to install CS5 onto your computer twice, which I've already done (thanks to my brand new computer crashing once already). So I would like to know how it's possible to install the program onto a new computer should this one crash, without the use of file transfer or Time Machine. I have no interest in upgrading to CC.

Avoid using Time Machine for re-installing Adobe software. It rarely works and usually breaks the activation mechanism.

Not quite.
You can install the software as many times as you like but you can only activate the software for use on a maximum of two computers at the same time.
To re-install you will need your CS5 serial number.
Download the installer from Download CS5 products
Install then enter your serial number when prompted.

How do I install Lightroom onto my new computer after old computer crashes?

My old computer recently crashed and I just got a new one (MacBook Pro). I had Lightroom 3 on that computer and I need to get it back onto my new computer. I have the original disc, but my new computer doesn't have a disc drive! How can I do this?? I also have the same issue with Photoshop CS4, but I don't have the disc for that. Please tell me this is a possibility without having to re-purchase everything!?

This isn't an "I told you so" but since I just learned how well it works, I'll pass this on to you.
START using Time Machine to back up...it's the greatest way to move all your old apps to a new / restored hard drive without all the cruft from the old one which probably caused the crash. If you ever crash again, reinstall the OS and then restore from Time Machine which will bring in all your apps and preferences and you will be right as rain in no time.

The hard drive in my old computer was fried basically and there is no way to get onto it again. I had adoe creative suite 5.5 and dreamweaver 12 on it but i am not sure how to install either of these onto my new computer now. Is there any other way to do this?

How do I install CS5 onto my new Mac OSX that has no disc drive?

I have the serial number and have loaded it onto one other computer, so I should still be able to put the program on my laptop as well. But it is giving me an error 6 for both PS and AI, but InDesign is saying I am missing files.
I have contacted the help center and it was no help, it was clear she did not know what to do because she kept asking me if I had a disc drive on my laptop which I had to keep clarifying that no, I don't.
I put the applications on a external harddrive and tried dragging them over onto my laptop, hoping it would just require I type in the serial number, but that did not work.

Correct. No install, no licensing system, no working apps. You must run the installer properly. Refer to the below articles:
Errors "Exit Code: 6," "Exit Code: 7"
Troubleshoot with install logs
Anything beyond that will require much more info on your part.

Run Help --> Deactivate on the old machine, then simply install on the new one using your serial number. no magic involved beyond that.

You will want to install the software from your installation media. Do you no longer have access to your DVDs or did you originally purchase a download? If you choose the download option then the software should be under your account. It is probably broken. You can try restoring it using Recovery Mode, but if that fails its time for a new phone. After all, it is 4 generations out of date. See: Recovery Mode

Hmmm? A quick google search for external optical readers turns up many in the $20-$40 (USD) range. Didn't convert to £ or include any VAT charges, but you should be able to get something significantly cheaper than £70. That's your simplest solution.
