How do you keep images from saving as "unknown.ext"?

When saving images, sometimes (but more often than I care to tolerate) the name defaults to "unknown.ext". Is there any solution outside of typing out a new name and extension type.

How can you keep iphone from connecting to unknown networks and stop asking about them?

When i have WiFi on, but "ask to join" is turned off, i've found that my iphone connects to open unsecured networks on its own whenever it can. These are not networks it has previously been connected to. I want it to behave like every other WiFi device out there where i have a list of known networks that it accesses when in range and i don't want it to ask me or connect to anything else when not in range. I understand i can turn WiFi off but this is a pretty big pain to have to manually do this every time i go in and out of range of networks i want to be connected to.
It also would be nice if anyone knows of a way to edit my know networks list as a list instead of having to be in range of the network and then one by one go through every visible network to figure out which ones it considers known. Especially when it has automatically added networks without my knowledge when the ask to join was turned off.

Let me give you an example. I'm at a United lounge at O'Hare Airport right now. They have WiFi here but it requires that you log on in order to connect to the internet. I connect to WiFi from my laptop. All good. Then, immediately, my iPhone connects to the same network. But because I haven't logged on from my iPhone, I can't get online. This kills the internet on my iPhone because I'm connected to a network with no internet access. If on my iPhone I "Forget this Network" and then come back next week, I'll find that it connects to the exact same network.
I travel a lot and almost all of the networks I use on a daily basis require a login of some sort.
I could turn off WiFi but then I have to remember to turn it on when I actually do want to connect to a network, like when I'm at home.
Any idea how to prevent the mirroring of WiFi connections? Or at a minimum make sure the "Forget this Network" option actually works?

What do mean by reloading? Once you sync the photos to the iPad they should not sync again. Is that what you are seeing? The progress bar is showing that the photos are being transferred all over again?

Forte and MIDlet - how do you keep Forte from seeing J2SE classes?

I am developing MIDlets with Forte; I have created a new MIDlet within a MIDlet suite, using the HelloWorld template.
However Forte lets me use any old class in my code, not just the MIDP classes. For example, if I write a
Float f = new Float();
line in my code, Forte will compile without batting an eyelid, even though there is no Float class in MIDP.
How can I keep Forte from accepting the use of J2SE classes when compiling MIDlets?

OK, fixed - here's what I did:
- I went to Project/Settings/Compiler Types and I moved the J2ME Wireless Internal Compilation on top of the list
- then to Project/Settings/J2ME Wireless Settings and make sure that the J2ME Wireless Internal Compilation was the default compiler
- then Project/Settings/Java Sources/Default compiler and set the compiler again
-then I went to Tools/Global Options/J2ME Wireless Options and set "Check default compiler" to false
Now it works!Perhaps there are useless/contradictory steps in there, but at least now my code is only compiled against MIDP classes and not J2SE classes.

I recently added Windows 7 Ultimate into my MacBook Pro just a few days ago using Bootcamp. I'm just wondering if I can share my files, like any videos, documents, or such things, saved in my MacIntosh drive (or wherever I saved my things into) and somehow open it back up in my Windows. When transferring a project from one computer to another,to stop errors such as these, its essential to ensure that the project is copied with all the files and folders in exactly the same locations. Also before opening the project on the new computer, you need to set up a new project and set all the preferences to be exactly the same as on the first computer. Then when you open the project, premiere will find all the files in all the right places. Even then you may need to re-link some files. Just follow the prompts when Premiere asks "Where is file...."
We use USB hard drives to store students projects on and they are used on many different computers without problems, as the preferences are all set to be the same.

A screenshot can capture almost anything you're viewing. Hold the command and shift keys down, then press the 4 key and release all keys. Hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor to the size/area of the image you want to capture. Release the mouse button and you've captured the image. You can't of the PDF or the file was oriented that way. You can lock the screen orientation and turn the iPad the other way - landscape or portrait - but you can't change the orientation of the file in the mail app.

It's free and a nifty little program. Spotlight is programmed to not search in most system folders so will not find many of the pieces of an app you want to de-install. EasyFind will look in those places so you can delete whatever else of the HP app is still around.

How do I keep FCPX from saving files to my internal HD?

I have my project on an external drive, but it keeps saving to my internal drive also, eating upp al of the space until it can no longer function because there is no space left.
I have already unchecked "copy files to FC events folder" in import settings, but the problem keeps happening. Is there an easy way to set a scratch disk where every single file will be saved to like in FCP7?

FCPX has TWO sorts of main data: Projects and Events.
Both can be located on your internal, external drives or somewhere on a LAN.

hello, this is currently a problem in firefox when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

How do I keep images from deteriorating in InDesign?

I'm making book covers to use in CreateSpace, which means I have to make PDFs of my InDesign file. I can make a PDF fine, but here's my problem: Every time I save the file, the images get progressively more pixilated. If I make a PDF as soon as I create the InDesign file, everything is fine. But if I make changes to the ID file and have to save it a few times, then the images in the PDF get more and more pixellated until they are too bad to use. This happens even if I use the "Save as" option instead of the "Save" option.
My fix has been to replace the images at the very end of my process, just before I make the PDF. But this is a very tedious process and it means I'm doing double work. Any idea what I should do? I'm not a power user, so there might be something very simple that I don't know about it.

Also make sure that your View > Display Performance is set to High Quality Display.
I've been having issues myself over the past several days where a file will occasionally revert to a low quality display for no reason. Switching in and out of ID has for the most part corrected it temporarily, but I suspect I've done some damage to a common file somewhere as this is happening in multiple versions and I'm working on a machine currently where I test test other people's files and software, so it gets mangled from time to time and must be rebuilt.
If your problem isn't out-of-date or missing links, or display performance, it's most likely either file corruption or prefences corruption. If it's isolated to the single file, see Remove minor corruption by exporting. If it's all files, see Replace Your Preferences

Can anyone help me with this? The only methods that i have found that are remotely useful are getContent() andgetContentType().
But all the code I've fouund and studied doesnt say anyone about downloading images. What do I need to be looking for to acheive this?

You have a URLConnection to the img URL right?
Open that connection's input stream (URLConnection.getInputStream or something like that, look it up in the Javadoc API: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/)
Once you have that stream, you can read its bytes to your heart's content, and write them to a file as you wish.
