How do you keep two (2) totally separate libraries on the same computer

I have had an iPod nano for a few years and have built up my own library. My son received an iPod touch for his birthday. How do I keep my music and his music totally separate? We are using the same PC (the same iTunes link). He has his own iTunes account but it is still trying to sync my recent purchases with his iPod. And vice versa. His songs are in my library. Help!

I sort of have a similar question about the same situation.
I created a new iTunes library for my old iPod mini and loaded it up with music for my father-in-law. Only problem is, when I connect my 2G iTouch, my library with thousands of songs doesn't come up. I tried holding Shift down when I open iTunes to choose my library, and I see the one I created for him, but I can't find my library.
Any ideas on how to find it or where it might be? I've been working on this for hours and have tried almost everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Load the library which doesn't contain the songs and drag them into the open iTunes application window. If you need to move them between different computer user accounts, put them into /Users/Shared/.

[To prevent the VI that did all this from "committing Suicide", I compared the name string with the current Call Chain, and did nothing if there was a match].
I think you could adopt this idea to do what you need.

I would like to know if it is possible to create two separate libraries on the same computer. If someone could also please tell me how to do that, that would be awesome. Thank you all so much!

To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. This can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
Another option is to create a separate Windows User account for each person on your PC. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists

The one iphone is connected via the cloud. everytime a new song or app is added to the account it is placed in all of the libraries. I want to add another iphone to the acccount when I tried it replaced the contacts with the contacts on the iphone already on the account. How do I prevent that from happening and can I have two iphones on the same account and use the cloud on both

I have an IPOD Touch and an IPAD 2. My wife would like the IPAD 2 since I am getting the new iPad. Right now the IPOD Touch and the IPAD have all the same apps on them, since I cannot create a different configuration for each one. Now that I am getting the new IPAD, how do I set up a different sync configuration for each of the two IPADs? Right now I have to manually delete the IPOD Touch apps from the IPAD each time I sync, since they do not display correctly on the IPAD (small screen in middle of IPAD). I just wonder if I have to manually remove my apps from my wife's IPAD every time I sync the IPADs in ITunes. She does not want all the stuff I currently have on my IPAD. I use an iMAC for the sync.

It sounds like you're using the same AppleID to purchase apps for all devices, is that right? If so, you need to make sure that
- You turn OFF automatic downloads for Apps (on the device, Settings, Store, Apps, turn off downloading)
- You manually sync each device through iTunes (once you connect the device, or if you sync through wifi, you can specify which apps get synced to each device). In the Apps tab in iTunes, make sure you only select the apps you want to be on that device.

You can't merge Apple IDs. What you could do is set up your phone to use the same iCloud accout you are using on your Mac. To do this, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all synced data (Contacts, Calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone. When everything is off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Now add the iCloud account you set up on your Mac (with the same Apple ID) and turn syncing back on for Calendars, Contacts, etc. When prompted, you will probably want to choose merge, to merge the data on your phone with the existing data on this iCloud account.
