How do you know the size of a movie BEFORE you export it?

I made a project in iMovie 09, then sent it over to iDVD. The DVD won't burn because of the following error:
========================================
Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn this project, remove some content.
Project:
- total project duration: 132:01 minutes
- total project capacity: 4.175 GB (max. available: 4.172 GB)
Menus:
- number of menus in project: 1 menus
- total menu duration: 0:00 minutes
- total menu capacity: 83.0 KB
Movies:
- total movies duration: 132:01 minutes
- total movies capacity: 4.175 GB
========================================
So basically, the project is 0.003 GB over capacity! iMovie spent about 8 hours rendering this thing and now I have to do the entire thing again!
How do I find out how big this file will be when it's done so I don't waste another day rendering a project that's essentially useless?

You say it's better to do the Media Browser?  I'm fairly new to movie, dvd and garage band.  How would I go about using the Media Browser instead of straight to iDVD?
Select Your project - go up to Share - Share to Media Browser and as Large (Not HD)
In iDVD select a nice theme - click on Media button - click on Movie - Select Your movie.
NOW - Save as a DiskImage - and test this before burning DVDs - if this Plays OK then either burn the Image by using Disk Util tool (and set down burn-speed to x4) - or burn via iDVD (will take more time)
I want to keep as much quality as I can.
Then don't use iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - as they all discard every second line resulting in less quality on the DVD. I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut any version.
Also...I tried to split my project in iMovie...but couldn't find a way.  I wound up just making a copy and then deleting out a handful of scenes from the copy...I still have the original at 4:12hrs.  Is there a way in iMovie to split a project?
I would make a copy and cut away a bit from the end - calling this Part 1 and from start of the other copy Part 2.
OR - there are other programs that can squees in more to a DVD e.g. Roxio Toast™ - BUT this has two cons.
• It costs - to me it was well spent mony as it can so much more e.g. back engineer a DVD to an editable form
• Squeesing in more on a DVD - costs in QUALITY - and as You want as much as it can be - then 90 minuts portions encoded with Pro-Quality encoding and full quality interlasced material from a video-editor that delivers this is the way to get 100% of what DVDs can do.
DVD is as standard only SD-Video - HD not possibly. Then You need Blu-Ray. (also Roxio Toast™)

  • How can I know the size of DB Table

    Hi, Guys,
    1. How can I know the size of the DB Table in terms of kb
    2. If I delete some records from the Table, does the actual size of the Table remains  same or will it be reduced.
    3. If size remains same after deletion, how to reduce the size ( i.e. occupied space).
    thanks
    Mahesh

    Hi
    1. How can I know the size of the DB Table in terms of kb
    There is no precise method/tcode/program to know the Table size of a tables.
    Just based on the record size of a table(say for example 2kb), and if 200 records are there then, we roughly assume that it occupied 400 kb.
    All the tables are stored in Table spaces.
    2. If I delete some records from the Table, does the actual size of the Table remains same or will it be reduced.
    Time being it remains same. it won't get reduced immediately
    during some next DB reorganisation it gets reorganised by reducing it.
    3. If size remains same after deletion, how to reduce the size ( i.e. occupied space).
    during next DB reorganisation it gets reorganised by reducing it.
    Reward points if useful

  • How do I know the size of a file

    Hi,
    Would anybody please show me how to get the size of a file. for example, I create a file like this
    FileInputStream FINPUT = new FileInputStream ("c:\\testing.prn");
    I need to know the size of FINPUT before using it but I don't know how.
    note: It is not neccessary to use FileInputStream. I can use any stream or file that allow me to check the size and read out the data from the file byte by byte.
    Thanks a lot.
    Hung

    Thank you for your responding. But, how can I read out the data? I need to read the data from the file byte by byte.
    Thanks
    Hung.

  • How can I know the size of a JViewport laid out in BorderLayout.CENTER?

    I have a JPanel inside a JScrollPane. The scroll pane is laid out inside of BorderLayout.CENTER. I need to know the size of the JViewport to do stuff like centering and zooming.
    Where can I find the size? All these methods return 0 values for X and Y:
    myScrollPane.getViewport().getSize()
    myScrollPane().getSize()
    myScrollPane.getHorizontalScrollbar().getValue()
    Yes, even the scrollbars won't give me any values! It's all because of the BorderLayout!
    Any ideas? Thanks.

    Sounds like you are accessing the sizes before the views are realized (that is before a call to frame.pack()/show()) They are available only after the layoutManager had a go on it. What is available earlier are preferred/min/max, though.

  • How do we know the size from the our objects in transport request no?

    Dear All,
    I have the need to know the size from the objects that we're gonna transport where those objects are attached in transport request no.
    Is that the way to know it ?
    If yes, could you kindly let me know regarding it ?
    Thanks a lot,
    Best regards,
    Daniel N.

    Hi Niel,
    If you want size and information of co files and data files, then the manual procedure is like this.
    1. Using transaction code AL11 (to see files on server)
    2. Goto folder DIR_TRFILES  ( or  /usr/sap/trans)
    3. Double click on that row.
    4. Inside that you will find two folders (among other folders)
        cofiles, data
    5. Goinside the subfolder you are interested. Eg. cofile
    6. Now suppose you request number is ABCK900168
       where ABC will be your system number, then the file name will be
       K900168.ABC
      or you can search for K900168
    7. The data file will have the name (in data folder)
        R900168
    There you can see the size (length column name) of the file.
    Hope this helps.
    regards,
    amit m.

  • How can we know the size of the dimension(in Line item Dim)?

    Hi to all experts,
    We use Line item dimension if the size of dimension is 20% or more of the fact table. My doubt is that how can v know that the size of the dimesion is 20% or more of FT?. But we never store MD in dimension tables......So please help me to understand this scenario? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    Normally before modelling you will assume the number of entries in your master data and transactional data..
    If your dimension is having 3 characteristics
    say A,B .....and these characteristic values are say
    A---10,000( Total number of master data records)
    B----7,000( Total number of master data records)
    then your dimenstion would be 10,000 * 7,000 =700000000
    in this case you better keep A in a dimension and B in another dimension.
    Normally SAP recommends your dimension table shouldnot exceed 100,000...
    so whenever you expect a characteristic is having more values then you should make it as line item...
    If you want to add a new characteristic to the existing model then you can decide by comparing the ratio of dimension table to the fact table..
    Please have a look at the below url for sizes
    dimension size
    Hope it helps
    Thanks,

  • How do i change the size of a clip using batch export?

    hi, when i try and do a batch export to change my clips from a DV PAL to PhotoJpeg 320*240 sized clips the "options" button is greyed out. so all i have as export settings are the QT presets in a pulldown list. is there any way i can create my own setting? (and the also save that?)
    thx

    what i'm seeing is that
    a) selecting all files in Media Man. gives me the option to size and set codecs but not the audio off.
    b) selecting all files in Batch Export allows me to pick a format (QT, aiff etc) choose a preset (photoJpeg included) select whether to include audio and video or both but not set the size or customize the QT settings
    c) selecting all clips then "file>export>using QT conversion" gives me all options, but seem to grab only the first clip.

  • How to find out the size of a node before it is shown?

    Hi,
    I am trying to anchor two nodes (say A & B) to the top of an anchor pane such that B is laid out below A. To accomplish this, I need to provide an anchor offset for the control B, which has to be height of the node A. However, as the containing Stage has not been shown yet, the A's node getWidth() method returns 0 (zero). Since, node A's size is computed based on its contents, I can't hardcode its size. So, I am at a loss how to provide the height of the node A in a dynamic manner.
    Please feel free to ask me to clarify the question if I didn't make myself clear enough.
    Thanks.

    If one of the existing layouts doesn't work for you, then you can create your own. A little bit harder to do, but this would be your best bet since there is no trickery involved. Basically, all you have to do is override the layoutChildren() and the computePrefXXX (and, perhaps computeMinXXX) methods from Parent.
    Here is any overly simplified example that lays out three circles like a traffic light:
        @Override
        public void start(final Stage stage) {
            Parent parent = new Parent() {
                    getChildren().addAll(
                        CircleBuilder.create().fill(Color.RED).radius(20).build(),
                        CircleBuilder.create().fill(Color.YELLOW).radius(20).build(),
                        CircleBuilder.create().fill(Color.GREEN).radius(20).build()
                @Override protected void layoutChildren() {
                    double dx = 0;
                    double dy = 0;
                    for(int n=0, nMax=getChildren().size(); n<nMax; n++) {
                        Node child = getChildren().get(n);
                        double prefHeight = child.prefHeight(-1);
                        dy = prefHeight * n + prefHeight / 2;
                        child.setLayoutY(dy);
                        dx = child.prefWidth(-1) / 2;
                        child.setLayoutX(dx);
                @Override
                protected double computePrefHeight(double width) {
                    double prefHeight = 0;
                    for(Node child : getChildren()) {
                        prefHeight += child.prefHeight(width);
                    return prefHeight;
                @Override
                protected double computePrefWidth(double height) {
                    return getChildren().get(0).prefWidth(height);
            Scene scene = new Scene(parent);
            stage.setScene(scene);
            stage.show();
        }

  • How to know the size of bad sector block after zero out erase?

    I found some problems on my USB external harddisk recently. After I backup all the files, I erased the whole volume by choosing "zero out data" option. According to some web articles, "zero out" detects and marks those bad sectors to avoid further read/write action on the damaged area.
    My question is that how can I know the size of disk space marked as bad sector? Because I can only see how many space is used or available when I check a disk in disk utility. There are about 600MB used for my 1TB hard drive. I guess there is some storage used by spotlight or other hidden files. But I have no idea for how many MB is occupied by bad sector...

    Yes you can look at see the original number of spares, the number used, and the number remaining spares.
    Disk Warrior for one, writes the SMART data to system.log Other programs can also read and report (not sure which if any write to system.log though) those field values from SMART table entries.
    IF the number of spares is declining, time to replace. Trouble is OS X hasn't had a good record of reporting I/O errors, let alone remapping. Some 3rd party utilities will. I've found the vendor (WD, Hitachi etc) have the best utility for their own drives, but those are Windows programs or LinuxCD. Also the best way to zero and map out bad sectors, too.
