how do you leave a family?

Hi there mia260,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Take a look at the article linked below, it’ll answer you question and walk you through the process of leaving a Family Sharing group.
Leave Family Sharing - Apple Support
How do I leave a family group?
Any family member over the age of 13 can remove themselves from a family group at any time.*
In iOS 8 or later, tap Settings > iCloud > Family, tap your name, then tap Leave Family.
In OS X Yosemite, go to Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Manage Family, click your name, then click the Remove button in the bottom-left corner.
When you turn off Family Sharing, you leave the family. After you leave a family, you can join or set up a new one. However you can only switch to a different family group once per year.
So long,
-Jason

  • How do you leave BT?

How do people leave BT broadband + Telephone ?
I have a horrible feeling I'm lumbered with a 24 month contract which renews when you move house, which I did 12 months ago. So I've either been with them over 24 months or 12 months.
So there is something called unbundling which I've heard about. Can anyone share with me what's involved, the magic words I have to state when dealing with them?
Sorry to all those new BT customers who might read this, but after this past 12 months I've had enough.
    My sync speed this week:

The way I was given "Get of Jail Card Free", was through the help desk.  After following their instructions and appointments several times, got to the point where I refused to do anymore, and read out everything they had asked me to do, dates and times and who I had spoken to and quoted Material Loss  Then they literally pleaded with me for one more chance with the agreement that if they could not fix the issue they would terminate my contract with no penalty and transfer me to the appropriate department.
This duly happened and was given a date and Mac code for the broadband to end. I would like to add that I also complained quite early on through their online complaint form. And in contact with thier customer services.
This was done  with 2 months into a 18 month contract.
You do have to remain polite and calm their is no point blasting off at the person on the phone as it is not their fault.
However it did not come to this due to the Mods here so If given the chance I would go with them.  It is a lot less stressful!!!

  • How do you designate a family member to pickup an item at an Apple Store?

I just bought a Macbook Pro and can't figure out how I can designate my son to pick it up for me.

For most orders, you can have a friend or family member make your pickup. AFAIK, only unlocked iPhones must be picked up by the person who placed the order. Read here:

  • How do you leave your iMac when you're not using it?

    Just curious..
    Hey All..
I have a 24" iMac 2.8 with a 750GB Hard Drive. I tend to leave it on all the time shutting it down over night probably once a week. I have my settings to turn the display off after 5 minutes and turn off the hard disks "when possible". I just wondered if this was healthy or will it shorten the life expectancy of my pride and joy? I must admit that I do like to leave it on all the time. I leave my Time Capsule on all the time too...should I perhaps shut this down also?
I have the Applecare program which gives me some piece of mind with my iMac.
I'd be delighted and interested to hear how you all 'leave' your iMacs when you're not using them.
    Kind regards..
    ~RICKY

I have my system plugged into a UPS and generally leave it sleeping. There's a window where I have it scheduled to wake up and then sleep again, but it I otherwise sleep it.
I suspect that sleep probably puts the least wear on your machine and is safe if you have a UPS. FWIW, an early 2007 24" iMac draws 3W of power when it's off, and 10W or so when asleep ( the newer models use less than 6W). During the boot process, power consumption will go 200-220W for ~1 minute. Normal usage it consumes about 100W. Idling, the machine will use between 70-100W depending on the screen brightness, and about 45W if the display is off and machine is idle. Playing something like WoW brings the power consumption up over the 200W mark.
The mechanical parts wear proportional to the number of times they are used (physical switches), and the electronic parts wear mostly based on the the result of cycles of temperature changes / surges of voltage. Pressing the power-button to power-on the Mac probably puts the most wear on the unit as a whole. That said, under normal circumstances you are not likely to put enough wear on anything but the hard disk to have it fail.

  • How do you stop a family's members text messages from showing up on another family members computer (macbookpro) ?

My daughter got a macbook pro and is receiving my son's text messages. We don't know how to avoid that. They share an apple itunes ID.

  • How do you leave a group chat??!!!! It's annoying!!

This has been a pretty frustrating and annoying problem since I got the IPhone 5 in November.  Is there a "REAL" way to stop these text messages from coming in?  There's got to be a "leave group chat" button coming in the next update right?  Seems like it would be an easy fix to an annoying problem...Everyone I know that has the new phones and IOS ask the same question about it...

Tell the person to stop texting you next time they send a message. Just have to remove you from the list by sending a completely separate message..

  • How do you leave a comment

I shared a document and was surprised to see that there is no way to leave a comment on the document.

You cannot have your clients upload files to your cloud until you share your cloud username and password with them. But what you can do is, ask your clients to upload the files to their cloud and then share the same file with you and then you can leave your comments. It can happen vice-versa as well.
If anyone comment or your file, you will get an email notification on the email that file is shared to.

  • How do you setup multiple users with multiple devices on itunes?

I'm trying to find the easiest solution to our family music situation.  4 users, 4 devices (ipods, ipad, imac, pc laptops), and 4 different musical song interests.  I'm sure there are millions of households that have the same exact situation.  I want to be able to pull up only my musical library, not my kid's music, and then easily synch it to my ipod.  Everyone in the family wants to do this same thing.  I have spent alot of time trying to search the forums/internet and there does not seem to be one "most popular" solution.  I did setup iCloud for each family member using a different Apple ID than my main Apple ID, and I'm happy that ALL the music shows up on my ipad.  But between iCloud, MobileMe, Home Sharing it all gets very confusing.  Some say to setup multiple computer login accounts, and others say to setup 1 playlist for each family member and synch from that playlist.
I would think 1 itunes account allows you to easily share a purchased song with 4 users, instead of buying songs twice.
So here are a few of my questions-
1-Is it best to have only 1 itunes account and then synch all devices off of 1 main computer?
2-Or since we each have iCloud accounts, will they be able to synch their ipods from their own pc laptop?
3-And when they synch, what is the easiest way to exclude other users music in itunes? (other than unchecking hundreds of artists)
4-Or setup 4 separate computer login accounts on the imac and then keep 1 itunes account?  If so, how does this work when they open itunes?
Again, I'm hoping for a straightforward simple solution.  I don't want to move & create libraries, download 3rd party software, etc. etc.  Please reply if you found something that works for your family.  Thanks in advance.

Number one, does everyone in your family only sych their ipods from only 1 computer?  If everyone only uses itunes from 1 computer I can see how that will work.  But what if kids want to use itunes for windows?  Will "Home Sharing" allow all their music purchased on the MAC, to be also displayed on their itunes for windows laptop?  I noticed you have PCs and also an ipad.  How do you manage your family's music on these devices?
Also, how did you first get everyone's music library into their own library?  Drag & drop?  Is the "grouping field" you mentioned under "view", then "view options"?  What does this do?
    Thanks.
Sorry I missed your post earlier. Normally I follow up on any replies. This one must have fallen off the page on a busy day.
As my kids have left home I have created for them a complete clone of the familiy library, then deleted the tracks from it they don't want. Over time their libraries will divirge, but if needs be they can still update their devices using the library at home. Handy when eldest's kit was stolen.
Grouping is just another property, useful because it isn't generally overwritten by other software but is stored in the tags, so preserved when you copy files from one place to another. You can make the column visible and edit for multiple tracks in Get Info. Some software calls the same field "mood" or "sub-genre". iTunes has a specialist purpose for it generally used with classical music, but it doesn't seem to work very well for that and I don't use it that way.

  • How do you setup multiple sites to allow for code promotion?

I am somewhat frustrated with the single site flow of the Dreamweaver Site Manager in helping me manage a full development to production code cycle.  Ideally I need to have multiple sites managed by Dreamweaver that are just different stages in the code lifecycle.  Currently DW only supports local_file -> production.  Instead I need (and this is sort of standard for software product systems) to have my local sandbox, a test site, a beta site and a production site.
In the normal dev cycle I would work in my sandbox and have DW synchronize with my test site  ( allows scripts that need a full server to be tested in case my local machine is not running a full server ).  I can do this today with DW.  When I am ready I want be able to have DW synchronize with my beta site (might very well be on a different server via FTP) so that my users/customers can review, test and approve the changes.  When everyone has signed off I then want DW to promote this code to the production site.
Now I can do this manually but DW seems to have 95% of the capability in place (mostly the synchronization logic).  Is there a way to have it also manage/synchronize the beta and production sites?
    Thank You

Denis, go to www.mac.com and sign into your account. Click on the word "Account" at the top of the left hand column. You will need to sign in again for security purposes. Once your account settings show up, click on the "Manage Accounts" button and you can take care of everything.

I have multiple devices used by family members, how do you make sure the kids don't see Moms messages from Dad and visa versa?

    Hi Roger:
Thanks for the reply.  I think I figured out the problem.  Apple has confused (at least in my mind) the different IDs that people can have.  In the iCloud settings, they use the term Apple ID and not iCloud ID.  I guess there really is no such thing as an iCloud ID.  There are Apple IDs with various attributes.  This is not clearly explained or easy to see (how could I look up to see if my Apple ID is associated with iTunes for example?).
I created, what I thought were iCloud IDs for each family member, but we all use my Apple ID for iTunes.
One other question - why does the syncing of Notes using iCloud require an @me.com email account.  That makes no sense to me.
    Thanks for your help!

How can you keep your iPhone 4 (using it as my car's iPod) staying on the Audible app?  When I leave the car and return to continue hearing a book, it has switched to iTunes.

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.
