How do you make a jpeg from a clip

How do you extract (or make) a jpeg from an iMovie clip. That is,the fairly new edition of iMovie?

You could just make a screen grab of the video playing, that is the easiest.
Open photos app, and play the video, pause where you want the image from.
Then hold the power and home button to grab a still image of the screen.
There is an app called videopix that can also grab full frame video grabs.

I have a large mosaic picture that makes up an image. I have set dimensions and a template of smaller bounding boxes that will be individual canvas's when I print them and when put together will make this larger image. I am unable to export or save individual jpg files from this clipping mask of a larger file. Any Suggestions?

Don't use clipping masks, use artboards and enable the "use artboards" option on export.

If im understanding you correctly, you want the folder to have an automatic landing page. Ex. If your folder is
"profile" you want the visitor to see the first profile page when they visit www.yoursite.com/profile. Correct?
If thats what you need, name the page you want your visitor to see when they go to ex. www.yoursite.com/profile "index.html" or "index.php" ad save that file in your "profile" folder. When you're visitor will go to www.yoursite.com/profile the page you named "index" will open.
Let me know if you dont understand or if its not what your trying to do.

How do you make an Image from a Graphics?

1) Is it possible to make an Image from a graphics?
I've returned the Graphics of an image in the method of one class so that I can work with it in another class. I was looking for a setGraphics in the Image class but there isn't one. Nor is there a graphics.createImage(). What I'd really like to do is get the background image, draw on it in a separate class, then return it to the original class (for buffering purposes).
2) is there any way to make a blank Image of given dimensions (without actually making a .gif of a blank screen)? I want to draw on the background even if it is blank, but I can't get the Graphics of a null Image.

i looked at those websites.
The reason why the site's buffered images work is becuase they are using the paint method in a single class. (i.e. they are not calling the graphics from someplace else). If you call a Graphics (using getGraphics and the like) from someplace else, you don't get a reference or pointer; you get a COPY. The copy will helpfully record your instructions. But the original graphics doesn't get the instructions. That's my problem. My graphics instructions are not getting sent to the originating Graphics, so drawRect never gets executed.
Another problem is that I often have no background picture in my container, and hence, I have a null pointer when I try to draw stuff on the returned Graphics.
So what I want to do is create an image in the subclass of the rectangles, lines, whatever, and send it to my handy little setBackground(Image im) method in my superclass. And whenever the background image is null, create a white image to draw on.
I am calling the graphics from the background of a custom lightweight container. I would REALLY REALLY not like to mess with my container code... it took me a long time to get it working.
I also don't want to override paint. That would make all the buffering work I did obsolete. :-(

How do You Make Accurate Speed Changes To Clips?

How do you apply a speed change to an audio clip in with frame accuracy? I have 2 audio clips, one from a camera and the other from a cheap solid-state recorder. The latter has audio drift and needs a one-off, constant adjustment to sync it with the camera audio.
However, FCP only wants to execute clip speed changes down to 1/10th of 1%, which is not small enough. Does anyone know what to do here - either within FCP or Sountrack Pro? Thanks.

I just know that often when capturing long segments of DV tape for our shows, we occasionally get a clip that comes in at 47.998 or 48.002, instead of the solid 48kHz.
When I export to aiff, it seems to clear up any sync drifting we experience with the original clips.
Might give it a go.
STPro is a solid option as others pointed out. I simply suggested a quick fix to a possible sync/drift issue. (quicker than learning a new interface...though that's something that should be done anyway, for the tools STPro offers).

How do you make a .GIF from a .mov

Hello Folks,
I didnt knwo where to post this, I didnt wnt to get yelled at if I posted this in the Video Software section, so i thought i'd tryhere.
Ok, so what I want to do is make a 2second .GIF from a 10 second clip I shot which is in .mov formate, the reason is I want to use that give as an Avatar... U know what i mean? I see alot of people who have these cool avatars from movie sccenes and other stuff...
So what program do I need? And how would I go abouts creating one?

If you search macupdate.com for "gif," you'll find a lot of software for building animated gifs.

I don't know if any of these apps will save a Quicktime movie file to an animated gif, but you can probably copy and paste frames from a Quicktime movie into the gif building app.

In imovie11 you could hit share, convert using quicktime, and then select mov to jpeg or gif. that option is not available in imovie13? Anyone know how to create a jpeg or gif in the new imovie?

When you say you would drag the image itself into the Swatch Palette and it would show the image itself? How would then use this swatch? Can you give an example of what you would apply a jpeg to as a swatch? The only palette that I can think of off the top of my head that you can drag a jpeg into and have the icon appear as the jpeg is the Symbols Palette. Is is possible that you were using the Symbols Palette in the past and not the Swatch Palette?

Used to be if you selected "Get Info" you could get an icon from the info window. Now all I get is this.

Yup - apparently the OS does not make actual thumbnails anymore for files; instead, it uses something like Preview to generate them on the fly. This means that when you do a Get Info on them, the icon shown in the upper left is a generic one.
A solution -
Lower down in the Get Info window is a preview of the image. Double-click that, and it will open in Preview. Press Command-A (Select All) then Command-C (Copy). This will place the image on the Clipboard.
Switch to the Get Info window for the file or folder you want to place the image onto as an icon, click the generic one in the upper left to select it, press Command-V (Paste).

How do you make a call from your computer

I have an iPhone 6 running 8.02 and Yosemite 10.10.
I my computer which is an iMac (late 2012) won't allow me to receive or make calls. I tried pairing my phone via bluetooth but that Doesn't work - tells me to check the network (i am on the correct network). Is the iMac too old to allow this to happen?

Create the slideshow either in iPHoto or in iDVD itself. Pick one of the old themes like World, Travel, Windowbox, Scrapbook or Pinboard that have no dropzone and drag a blank, black image file menu's window. That will give you a black menu. Change the text color to whatever you'd like for the play button for the slideshow. If you want the slideshow to start immediately when you put the disk in the DVD player click on the Map button in the bottom toolbar, last one on the left in the middle. In the next window drag the slideshow icon into the box at the far left. Then use the File->Save as Disk Image and complete the project. You can then open the disk image and play it with DVD Player to preview before committing to disk. If it's what you want, burn it with Disk Utility as the slowest speed possible for maximum compatibility with the many DVD players on the market.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. How do you make a template from muse to the bc?

I was told to just add a tag_content (in brackets) to a page rather than the A-master page and upload it to bc. Support said that bc would recognize it and put the page into the template folder.. that didnt happen for me.. All i had was a new page with the text tag_content in brackets displayed.. pls help.

How do i make two movies from one clip?

i have imported a clip from my camera.
i want to make two movies. one is pretty much the entire clip, but one is only a portion of it. how do i retain the integrity of the complete clip while making edits?

you should copy the clip (edit>copy) from the project that has the clip as its whole, save and close that project, then make the new one that needs to be only a portion of your clip, paste the clip (edit>paste), and edit it. this is either the answer to your questoin, or i dont understand your questoin.

Stop where you want to use the "photo" :you can use the arrow keys to manoevre to the right position.
Then use "copy" or "command + c"
Open Preview choose "new from clipboard" then save as jpeg.
