When I had premiere pro 5.5 I could send to Encore and make my dvd. In Premiere CC the encore option is grayed out. Is there a way to get back this function?

No... there is not, and will never be, an Encore CC

Hi I recently wrote this question in another topic but
it seems that it is better to re-question in a new thread..
I am using imovie for some years but to make dvd, I use Toast 6 not i dvd, because mine doesn't burn dvd.
So far I needed to make a DVD of only a short movie (15 minutes) so what I did was:
import the finished movie to quicktime (as high quality DV movie format) and then
burn DVD in Toast.
And with that format, 15-minute-short movie ended up 4 GB.
Now I need to make a dvd of a longer film (50 minutes) and if I want to
make DVD with this way, in order to make a quicktime mpeg4 format it takes 270 minutes..
I have always had difficulties to understand the right format for DVD; I know that I have to make mpeg2 (right?) for DVD, but in i movie, if I cann't use idvd, what should I do??
I hope that anyone can help me with this, maybe silly, question..

In Toast (as in iDVD) you have two options: burning a dvd or produce an image of a dvd...
a) ... is simple: finally you get your disk (physical)
b) ... the whole computing process of making a movie into the file system of a video-dvd happens, BUT it end not in using the burner, but storing the "image" (=files and data structure) of the dvd.
your Mac is able to "mount" such an image; after that you see a disc symbol on your desktop! (as you would have inset a real dvd....). you can "open" that virtaul sic with Apple's dvdplayer to check, wether it looks like you wished. and you can have look about its size finally, you can force Toast to "transfer" that image onto a real dvd-r
as said, that could be done with iDVD5/part of iLife05 too........
probably it is not on your iBook, because the installers checks, wether a burner is installed/your iBookG3 doesn't fullfill the minimum specs... even with Toast producing a DVDs on a iBook G3 is a very long time consuming process...

I don't want to sound too harsh, but you really need to read the manual and do the tutorials.
You shoot, capture and edit in FCP. You export that to MPEG2 using compressor and you import the resulting video and audio files into DVDSP. You add a menu and set up buttons to get to the footage, and you set up navigation so that your client can get back to the menu at any time. You build and format that (i.e. burn the disc).
That's the process, but it is very much more detailed than any of us could write here.... it's all in the manual and tutorials

How do you make clips from clips?

Need help making clips from clips.
On a given clip, i mark in and out and then select the area in between. When I copy and paste to another bin, I end up getting the entire clip, not just the part I selected. ALSO, it won't let me name this clip anything different from the original clip name.

After you mark the I/O in the Viewer make it a subclip (Cmd-U). Subclips are master clips and can be renamed.

Flotaing Labels - How Do You Make Them With Premiere Pro?

A recent video project i have arrived at has raised an interesting question: is there any way to create a floating label that will rotate and move with the video within the Adobe Premiere Pro software? What I'm looking for is basically a text box with an arrow pointing to the area of note that will move with the background video.
Would this be available with Adobe After Effects or another effects bundle? Or would it be simple to do using just the Premiere Pro interface? I'm a brand new user, so I haven't made it through all the training and resources that are online yet, but I would greatly appreciate any help or insight that anyone could provide on this subject.

In Word 2011, under "Tools", there "Labels...". (In 2008 I think it's in a similar place.) You select or create the template for the labels, then you select the Excel file as the the datasource. You can then play around a bit with which fields for the merge and how they are positioned on the screen -- you can preview those modifications. Then once you're happy you let the merge rip and you get a Word document with all the labels, which you can fine tune, e.g. set everything to all caps, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I think I figured out the problem. Apple has confused (at least in my mind) the different IDs that people can have. In the iCloud settings, they use the term Apple ID and not iCloud ID. I guess there really is no such thing as an iCloud ID. There are Apple IDs with various attributes. This is not clearly explained or easy to see (how could I look up to see if my Apple ID is associated with iTunes for example?).
I created, what I thought were iCloud IDs for each family member, but we all use my Apple ID for iTunes.
One other question - why does the syncing of Notes using iCloud require an @me.com email account. That makes no sense to me.

Thank you. I think I got it for the 4 but not for the 4S. In mail, contacts, calendars, do you choose default account? Also, there does not appear to be a choice like this for the icloud. How do you change the default on it? The best I can see is icloud to account to advanced to mail to icloud account information. On that screen there is a box that says allow sending from and the only choices you have are the icloud account and me account. I do not see how to add another account if that is the right section. I don't want the icloud or the me to be a return address.

If im understanding you correctly, you want the folder to have an automatic landing page. Ex. If your folder is
"profile" you want the visitor to see the first profile page when they visit www.yoursite.com/profile. Correct?
If thats what you need, name the page you want your visitor to see when they go to ex. www.yoursite.com/profile "index.html" or "index.php" ad save that file in your "profile" folder. When you're visitor will go to www.yoursite.com/profile the page you named "index" will open.

If your BC Assistant shows the option to create a USB Installer, it automatically is marked as bootable. There is no need to have manual intervention to make a bootable USB. Once the process is manually modified, it is supported by the person modifying it.
You have two or three options (depending on your Mac Model).
1. Create USB... - Use a USB2 flash drive, which is erased and formatted. If your Mac supports ISOs then BCA will prompt for the Media. Any Mac which does not have a built-in Optical drive will support an ISO. There are specific Mac models which support both, DVD and USB based installation.
2. Download Software from Apple servers...
3. Install Windows...

If you really have a 720 x 576 Standard Widescreen Video 16:9 (PAR = 1.4587) and you want a jpg still capture from it using Premiere Elements 10, then I suggest the following:
Premiere Elements 10
Project Preset = PAL DV Widescreen
Place the Timeline Indicator to the frame that you want as a jpg image.
Go to

and there set Presets = DV PAL SD (it is long story, but you do not have much choice at that level), so
you could experiment with JPEG - HD 1920 x 1080 but no sure how that is going to look going from 720 x 576 to 1920 x 1080, so
Under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of that preset, set
Frame Width 1024 or 1050 pixels
Frame Width 576 pixels
Aspect = Square (1.0)
("or" relates to....if you just want a 16:9 jpg still, then 1024 will do fine. If you want a 16:9 jpg still that will present in a Premiere Elements project to fill the Edit Mode monitor, then 1050.
1024 x 576 is the square pixel version of the non square pixel version 720 x 576 widescreen which is stretched for display after encoding.
Image can resize downward if necessary. More details on that later.)

If the content is on an external drive, but your library knows where to find it, then it should all work. Connect your device, make some selections for what to put on it, and sync. If, on the other hand, your current iPod is the only place holding some of your media then see this user tip: Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
