How do you make photos vertical in iPhoto calendar?

When making a calendar in iPhoto, and you choose 6 or 7 photos to be displayed on that month, how do you make the 4 little photos vertical?

You can't change the frame.  But you can Control-click on the photos and select Fit Photo to Frame Size and it will reduce the size of the photo so the entire portrait photo will display in the frame.  The excess background will be the same color of the page's background.

How do you make photos handicap accessible?

What you are describing is Tooltips. If you search this forum you'll find some info but I think all of them require editing of the files post publishing - adding code with an app like MassReplaceIt.
Tooltips will show in some browsers if you insert the image tag into an iWeb snippet and add your text to the title like so....
    <img src="http://www.domain-name.com/imagefile.jpg" title="Tooltip Text Goes Here" />
The problem is that the text is small and it wouldn't be much use to partially sighted people.
With the thought anything may be possible, I did a rough test to see if something could be done in an HTML Snippet. This is very rough and needs some more work to tidy it up....

If you don't have iPhoto, you can get photos off your camera using the Image Capture utility.
If you have JPEG photo files in a Finder folder, you can drag and drop them into your iMovie Project from there. TIFF and PNG may also work.

Your signature suggests you are asking about iPhoto on a mac:
To use the Media Browser in "Pages" as Douglas McLaughlin suggest:
Click "Media" in the toolbar, select the "Photos" tab in the "Media" browser panel, select "iPhoto"; for example:

Have you used the built-in migration plug-in? I'm not sure how LR handles iPhoto albums or events. there have been several reports indicating varying levels of success or otherwise, with import.

  • How do you make a backup of iPhoto?

I've heard people talking about making a backup of iPhoto in case it ever stops recognizing photos or something else goes wrong. I've tried to find how to do this but I couldn't find any solutions that I could actually understand. So I was just wondering if any one could explain it to me in simple terms.
    Thanks.

See the tip at the end of my signature for a way to backup the dB file, Library6.iPhoto, quickly and easily.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do you rearrange photos in an iPhoto library?

I am trying to rearrange photos in iPhoto so I can make a slideshow that makes sense.  I can't seem to move photos once they are there.

Where are you trying to rearrange the photos?  In the slideshow mode or in an album?
In the slideshow you can drag a photo from one position in the thumbnail tray at the top to wherever you wnat it.
In an album use the View ➙ Sort ➙ Manual menu option to let you drag the photos into any order you'd like.
What system and iPHoto verson are you using? Are you really running 10.3.6?

  • How do you get photos out of iphoto?

where are they stored on my hard drive? all i see in Pictures is iPhoto Library but how do i actually access the files in there, say if i wanted to put them on an external flash drive or something like that.

iPhoto is a Photo management program that keeps the photos in a data base - as in any database you access the data (Photos) via the database access methods
to put on a flash drive simply export your photos to a desktop folder, mount your flash drive and then drag that folder to the mounted flash drive
for complete details on accessing the database click here

  • How do you make photos into a GIF????

I'm on the edge of pulling my hair out. What program will work with Mac to make Gif's. Do I need to download something to do it?

    andrew5785,
In addition to iPhoto that has already been suggested, you can convert images with Preview in many cases.
Open the image in Preview, go to File -> Save As, and choose the format you want to save it as.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • How do you make a vertical font?

Hello, I was recently playing one of the popular games from Storm8 (iMobsters, World War, Kingdoms Live) and I noticed some people were able to use a special font. The word "the" was shown vertically; as in, the "t" was on top of the "h", then the "h" on top of the "e". This was not done through pressing return and skipping to the next line, but rather it seemed to be a whole character. I think this is a special type of unicode, but I am not sure where or how to replicate this. Does anyone know how this might be done? Thanks for your time!

Well I would ask the people who do this how they did it of course, but the problem is they think they are gods just because they know how to do it and they don't tell anyone how they did it.
And I am well aware of the Emoji, but unfortunately, this is not an Emoji. As I said, this is more of a unicode thing than emoji; Emoji are bright, and look cartoonish. This special vertical font is just regular iphone text letters on top of one another like this:
    t
    h
    e
(except for the pressing return to go to next line.) To put it more clearly, imagine "the" (with the t above the h, etc) above the letter "A" in the word "Assault". This is how it is. Any other ideas as to the method to doing this? I've heard of Unicode Lab, Unicode Free, or maybe some other app to do this....

  • How do you take photos from iPhoto and create a jpeg?

How do you select photos from your iPhoto and create a jpeg to post on a photography site that requires jpeg format?

Photos in iPhoto are already in JPEG format.
Just as an FYI: iPhoto supports a range of Camera Raw formats, Jpeg, Png, Tiff and  a few other formats as well.

  • How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09?

How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09? I can zoom in or out, but I can't figure out how to make a photo smaller. Is this just because I am working in a Contemporary book format, using a 2 photos per page layout? I'd like to work with maximum flexibility, like starting from the blank template in iWeb, where I can add any number of photos, text, and change all the sizes. Is this possible? Thanks.

How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09? I can zoom in or out, but I can't figure out how to make a photo smaller.
You resize the photo by clicking on it and zooming
You can not resize the photo frame
Is this just because I am working in a Contemporary book format, using a 2 photos per page layout?
No they all work the same - see Liz Castro's page - http://www.lizcastro.com/iphotobookthemes/ - for a detailed description of iPhoto '08 layouts - all of those carry forward to iPhoto '09 plus there are new ones that she has not documented yet
I'd like to work with maximum flexibility, like starting from the blank template in iWeb, where I can add any number of photos, text, and change all the sizes. Is this possible?
Not in iWeb but you can do pages in any page layout program (word, pagemaker, pages, etc) and print to PDF using the send PDF to iPhoto option to create a totally custom page - see Old Toad's tutorial #19 - http://web.mac.com/toad.hall/OldToadsTutorials/No._19.html - for directions

  • How do you burn photos to CDR from Iphoto. 9.5.1

How do you burn photos in Iphoto 9.
You used to do it from Share and now I can't find the instruction.

That feature has been discontinued.  One can no longer burn a "mini" library from iPhoto to disk.
To burn photos to disk with iPhoto 9 and later the photos must be exported to a folder on the Desktop and that folder burned to disk via the Finder.

  • How do you import photos from a library on an external drive to the current library running in iPhoto?

How do you import photos from a library on an external drive to the current library running in iPhoto? I have a few different pictures in each library and would like to have all my pictures in both libraries. The library on the external drive is my backup. I would appreciate any help.

Depends on exactly what you want to do.
Just move some of the Photos? FIle -> Export from one and export the shots to the Finder. Then import them to the other.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Move the photos and all versions and metadata: use iPhoto Library Manager it's the only way to do this while preserving everything. Merge two Libraries into one?
If you have Aperture 3.3 or later and iPhoto 9.3 or later you can merge libraries with Aperture.
Otherwise the only way to merge Libraries is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager
