How do you move the iphone from one computer to another.

I am having a lot of trouble with a computer so I started using a different one. I have never had an iphone on this computer. When I hook up the phone and try to put anything on it, like a ringtone, it says that the phone is using another iTunes and it wants to erase all the content of the phone. I searched the internet and it says to just move it and all will be good. This I have found is not true!!

You need to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to the new or different computer per the instructions included with this link. Transferring your iTunes library from your old computer to the new or different computer you will be be using now to sync your iPhone with per the instructions included with this link (along with authorizing the new or different computer with your iTunes account with iTunes) will prevent any iTunes content on your iPhone that was transferred from your old computer from being erased from your iPhone with the first sync with iTunes on the new or different computer.

    Hi,
    Collecting objects for Transporting
    1. rsa1->transport connection
    2. left panel choose 'object type', middle panel choose 'infocube' and 'select objects'
    3. then choose your infocube and 'transfer'
    4. will go to right panel, choose collection mode 'manual' and grouping only 'necessary objects'
    5. after objects collection finished, create request
    6. If they are $TMP, then change the package.
    7. When you click the Save on the change package, it will prompt for transport. Here you can provide an existing open transport request number, or if you like here itself you can create a new one.
    8. You can check the request in SE09 to confirm.
    Releasing Transport Request
Lets say you are transporting from BWD to BWQ
Step 1: In BWD go to TCode SE10
Step 2: Find the request and release it (Truck Icon or option can be found by right click on request #)
Note: First release the child request and then the parent request
Steps below are to import transport (generally done by basis )
Step 1: In BWQ go to Tcode STMS
Step 2: Click on Import queue button
Step 3: Double Click on the line which says BWQ (or the system into which transport has to be imported)
Step 4: Click on refresh button
Step 5: High light the trasnport request and import it (using the truck icon)
    Transport

I found the places.sqlite folder......it still will not accept the bookmarks from the other computer

There's too much above for me to specifically answer your questions, but I'll assume from the title that you're basically trying to sync to a new computer.  So here are some articles to help you.

  • How to Transfer the iPhone from one computer to another Win XP

    All
I got my wife a new macbook pro, running Windows XP prof. She has an iphone 3G with 16 GB memory running 3.0.1. So..she wanted to transfer the sync function from her PC to her macbook. Of course, Apple was of NO help at all (but did want to charge us $69.95 since her iphone is out of warranty, and this was an iphone not a mac problem, hmmm..). Took me lots of digging, but here is how you transfer you iphone from one computer to another:
    1. Move you itunes library from the old computer to the new one. To do this, you do NOT just copy it. This is as good a link to use as any to see how to do it, but search the internet and you can find instructions:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-10242259-49.html
    2. Transfer your applications you have purchased to the new computer. To do this, open itunes in the new computer, hook up your phone and click on File>transfer purchases (from itunes store) to computer. This will move your applications to the new computer.
    3. Export your MS outlook calendar, contacts, notes, etc. to the new computer by saving each of these categories as a PST file (file>export>then choose the category and type of file)...and then copy these PST files to your new computer and import them into MS outlook.
    4. Copy your playlists from itunes on your old computer to your new computer. This link may be helpful or search the internet again if you need to:

    5. Now...the important part...how to transfer all your settings from the iphone to the new computer....this is the part that was hard to find online, but finally got it: NOTE: THE BACKUP THAT ITUNES MAKES BACKS UP THE APPLICATION SETTINGS BUT NOT THE APPS SO THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO TRANSFER THE APPS TO THE NEW COMPUTER. The settings have all the data you put into your apps, email settings, preferences, etc...so its a huge time save to transfer these to the new computer also.
-Sync your iphone with your old computer to have a backup in case you mess up...in that case you can restore from your old computer and start over
-Plug your iphone into the new ocmputer and start itunes. It will detect your phone (I assume you have already authorized your new computer to use the library and playlists and apps that you moved)
-Right click on the "iphone" on the left bar...you will see a popup menu...click on "BACKUP". Let it backup your iphone to the new computer. It will NOT sync the phone
-When the backup is done....copy the backup file to a temp directory to be safe. The backup is located in "documents and settings">user name>applications>apple computer>mobile sync. If you cannot see it, you need to open windows explorer (not internet explorer) and go to tools>folder options>view and click on "show hidden files and folders" Note YOU CANNOT JUST COPY THE BACKUP FROM THE OLD COMPUTER TO THE NEW COMPUTER AS SUGGESTED ON SOME WEB SITES...THIS DOES NOT WORK, ITUNES WILL NOT IDENTIFY THE BACKUP EVEN IF YOU PUT IT IN THE FOLDER IN THE NEW COMPUTER THAT MIRRORS THE FOLDER LOCATION IN THE OLD COMPUTER.
-OK now you are ready...click restore on the iphone and restore the phone to factory settings. This will happen in a few minutes (10-15 mins).
-The phone will reboot and itunes will recognize the phone again...as a restored phone. It will then ask you if you want to restore it from the backup..say YES. You then need to go through all the itunes tabs and click on everything you want to sync to the phone (playlists, movies, podcasts, ringtones, etc). Once you are done going thru the tabs click "apply" and the sync will start. Go out, to a movie, to bed, whatever because it will take hours to sync.
-Once the sync is done...voila...your iphone has been moved with ALL the settings to the new computer. Check it. Then you can delete the backup you put into the temp folder if it is OK
    -Deauthorize your old computer
This worked for Win XP...should work for Vista. The whole process took many hours so don't rush through it (i'm guessing 12 hours total work).

  • How do you move an iphone from one mac to a new mac when both are using Itunes Match

I have an Imac (Mountain Lion) with two users sharing an Itunes account (Ver 11).  We each have iphones syncing to the computer (and to icloud separatly). I have just activated Itunes match on the IMac and on both phones.  I just bought a new MacBookPro and have activated Itunes match on it so I am sharing Itunes. Now, I want to move one of the iphones to the new MacBook and have it backing up to that computer instead of the Imac.  How should I proceed with synching the phone with the new computer?  How about the photos on the iphone?  Will they just load into the iphoto library on my new MacBook Pro.
Also, can I still synch the phones manually and move over playlist from Itunes to the phone?  I am assuming that when you turn off itunes match on the phone those playlists will be active.  I want to make sure that say, when I am on a plane or have no wifi or cell, that I can still use the phone as an Ipod.  With Itunes match you are streaming and always need a signal.  There has to be a way to retain the simple music player functionality, right?

I guess you mean whether I would be able to add one of the iPads to the new AC Mac by putting it in Restore mode and supervising it from that Mac? That will probably work. My problem is, that I've done that with the whole batch (60+ as I said earlier) when moving to a dedicated account within my own PowerBook some time ago. That takes an awfull lot of time, because it involves doing manual tweaking per iPad and adding the purchased apps again (in the Netherlands we don't have VPP so that is a manual process).
I would really rather have the settings transfered and continue working on the Mac Mini than starting all over again.

  • How can I transfer an iPhone from one computer to another?

    Hi all!
So, I got my boyfriend an iPhone 4 last year and his computer was so outdated that he could not sync it with his computer.  We recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (no Lion for us yet) for both his and my computer and now he can sync his phone with his own computer.  Before, he could not back up his contacts in his address book, or his calendar, etc.  So anyway, when I plug in his phone to the computer, it recognizes it, but will not allow me to create a backup in his iTunes.  It will also not let me "assign" the phone to the computer.  Any suggestions?  Also, even if I do a complete restore, how can I add the stuff backed up to his iCloud once it's restored?  Any help would be great.  Thanks!

Unless you moved the Domain file, that's its default location. Make sure you're looking in the Library folder in your Home folder rather than Macintosh HD. See also THIS recent post.

I've got the serial code and everything, but I can't find a way to download the Photoshop Elements trial so I can put in the serial code (none of the ones I could find work).

    Download a trial version from

Ensure that you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page before you click the download link otherwise the link will not work.

  • How do I move an action from one computer to another?

I have created a rather complex action on my laptop computer, and I'd like to copy it and move it to my desktop machine. How can I do that?

    It's pretty straightforward
Save it inside Photoshop to the location of your choice on the laptop. You can't save individual actions but you can save it as a set.
Then navigate to the folder where you saved it and drag-copy it onto a flash drive, or burn it to CD or DVD, or email it to yourself. Copy it to the locatio0n of your choice on the desktop computer.
Then use "Load Action" in the Actions palette inside Photoshop on the other computer to navigate to where you put the action set, and Load it.
    Done.

  • How do I move selected selections from one computer to another?

I've spent the last couple of days trying to figure out how to transfer some of my music from my MacBook Pro to my new iMac. I know the answer must be simple, but I'm just not understanding. I have sharing on, and am able to listen to the music from my MacBook Pro on my new iMac - but I can't transfer it. I don't want everything, just selected music. "Export Library" isn't giving me the option of exporting anywhere but to the computer the music is already on. "Back up to disc" only offers the opportunity to burn the music to CDs, which I don't really want to do.
I've been transferring other files wirelessly - and would like to do the same with music from iTunes.
I would appreciate some guidance. I know that the answer is probably simple and I'll feel like a dunce once I get it figured out.
Thanks in advance for your patience and wisdom!
    Linda

The flash drive works. Thank you!
I'm still frustrated because I can't get the Share to work, but I guess that is another question for another day. Simply being able to transfer wirelessly would be so much easier, but at this point I'm content to use the flash drive and explore the other options later. Right now, my main focus is getting my new computer set up to my liking.
Again, roaminggnome, thank you for your suggestion.
