How do you move your iTunes data to another computer?

Hey guys,
I'm planning to move my iTunes data in my old and defect Windows laptop to my newer Windows laptop. All I want is, transfer all my stored music, my stored apps and iPad+iPhone backups to my newer computer without the iPad and the iPhone to lose data just because it went to a newer iTunes. How can I do that? Can someone help me?
My iTunes in the old one is iTunes 11.0 while the new one will have the latest one or something. I'm planning to move my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4S data.

how do you access your itunes account from another computer?

You have asked two different questions?
Your account is just a user name and password.  You can access that to buy content from any computer with itunes, just sign it.
Your library wil only be where your put it. Yo can copy it from one computer to another, or from your backup copy of your computer ot another computer. In some countries you can download some past itunes purchases.

  • How do you move your itunes to a whole different computer?

What that question is up there, is the question that I am asking.

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. This has to be the exact same place, on a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). Everything has to be exactly the same on the new computer including the Windows user account name. When you open iTunes on the new computer it will be the same as on the original one Songs, Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings etc. You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
If you have an iPod it can be used as an external drive and you can move the iTunes folder onto it: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • How can you move your music and stuff to computer?

Okay I have an iphone and a macbook. I have all my stuff synced on my iphone contacts, music, dates ect. Well i just updated my computer with leopard and didnt back-up my music on my computer. So all my stuff is on my phone. The only thing from my phone that will sync are my contacts and Ical events. My music, videos, and ringtones won't sync though. Can anyone help, any solutions?

Did you perform an Erase and Install?
Regardless, creating a backup or updating an existing backup is the very first step one should perform before installing a major OS upgrade such as Leopard.
Installing a major upgrade or not, maintaining a backup of all your important data is critical for a number of reasons - it isn't a matter of if but when your hard drive has a partial or complete failure since none last forever.
iTunes content - music and video is synced or transferred in one direction only - from your Mac to the iPhone and the same for photos transferred from your computer to the iPhone. The sync process is bidirectional for Address Book contacts, iCal calendar events and Safari bookmarks.
With your iPhone connected to your Mac and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases from - the name of your iPhone. This will transfer iTunes purchased content only - music and video purchased from the iTunes Music Store from your iPhone to your iTunes library - not any music transferred from a music CD to iTunes that was transferred to your iPhone. This content will be lost.

  • How do you put your iTunes on a different computer

I have iTunes for our iPhones, iShuffle and iPad 2 which I have, my computer is on it's last leg and I have bought a new computer my question is how do I switch everything over to the new computer with loosing everything I have bought for our system. My son has Austim and is non-verbal and one of the programs is how he talks I want to nake sure I do not mess that up. Thank you

Copy the songs onto an external hard drive or a USB flash drive. From their copy them to each new computer. Once they are there, add them to the library on each new computer. If the music contains any "protected" files from the iTunes Store, authorize each laptop to the account(s) from which the songs were originally purchased.

  • How do I move my iTunes library to another computer?

    I'm sure there's a tutorial about this but I couldn't find one.
Basically I just would like everything I have on this computer on another one, but I'm not so sure about authorizing/deauthorizing computers, moving all the files, and if possible I'd like to keep the play counts of my songs as they are now.

Hi Guys, you make this sound easy. I have a 2005 Toshiba with about 6GB of music I loaded from CDs on it. It is an old PC and I want to retrieve the music before it crashes then deauthorize it.
I have a iMac desktop and want to import the 6GB to it.
I read the above and tried to copy the file but at 6GB it is bigger than a memory stick or CD and I can't get sharing to work.
My Imac can see the Toshiba in the IMPORT window....but won't allow me to import it.
Would it work if I got a cable with USB on each end and joined the 2 computers?
I also have iTunes Sharing and can see and play the Toshiba files on the Mac WHILE they are connected.......BUT I want to cut the connection and have the Toshiba songs independant on the Mac, then close down the PC.
Does anyone have a simple way. It is APPLE! I must be missing a simple solution here somewhere.
    Thank you for your time.

  • How do I move an itunes account to another computer without losing my information, How do I move an itunes account to another computer without losing my information

    HELP!!!!

Tim's solution creates a "new" library with the same media, not quite what you want. Try this alternative:
Backup your library using this User Tip.
Deauthorise the old computer if you won't be using it for iTunes.
Restore the library into the music folder on the new computer.
Install iTunes and sign in to your account.
If you've already installed iTunes delete/move the empty library out of the way first. You can use the same technique given in the tip for the backup to clone the library to the new machine.

  • HT1420 The laptop that was authorized for my iTunes has died.  How can I move my iTunes library to another computer?

I have LESS than 5 computers in my home and one of which has  died(hard drive unrecoverable) how can I deauthorize the laptop that has died?
This URL http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420 only describes how to deauthorize working computers.

I don't think you can. Well not at least until you have 5 computers authorized. When you have 5 computers authorized there should be an option to "unauthorize all" in your account settings.
If you get to 5 computers authorized and you need a 6th, do this and then re-authorize the others you need.
It would be handy if you could just pick a machine to unauthorize in iTunes.

  • TS2972 How do you move your music within itunes from your regular library to the homeshares library so that you can import it to your new computer?

How do you move your music within itunes from your regular library to the homeshares library so that you can import it to your new computer?

You do not have to move it as such. Here are the steps to setup HomeSharing
    1) Ctrl B to turn on the top menu
    2) File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share enter your apple id and password, click create
    3) repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other computer and create home share using the same apple id and password
On your new machine if you have turned on the left hand sidebar the Shared Library should be about halfway down like this.
Select the songs you want and click import at the bottom right. If you want all songs then I would select one song nad Ctrl A to select all
Finally if you have a lot of songs to transfer Switch off the wifi on the old computer. Leave the wifi on the new one. Connect with an ehternet network cable. The copying speed is way faster.
Click import and grab a coffee
