How do you open a pdf?

How do you open a pdf file?  I can download Adobe but it still opens as a blank page.

Your Mac has a built it PDF reader/editor called "Preview." If you have installed Adobe Acrobat, it should open those same files with no issue. There may be an issue with the file you are trying to open.
Perhaps try to open the PDF with Preview, and see if you have the same issue.

How do you open a PDF File using Adobe Reader on your IPad When in IBook?

You can't. When you're in most of the PDF readers, the Share button gives you the option of Open In another app. But iBooks does not.
You need to add your PDFs through the iTunes method which Alec wrote about here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1040579?tstart=0
Or you can use another way of transferring your PDF to the iPad, like Dropbox. You install the Dropbox app on your iPad and copy your PDF from Dropbox (cloud application). It opens in Dropbox app and you use the Share icon to move it into Reader.

  • How do you open a PDF that comes in as a winmail.dat on an iPad2

How do you open a PDF file that comes in as winmail.daton an iPad2?  Is there any setting that I need to turn on?  Or do i need to purchase a converter to make this work?
    Thanks,

You could ask whoever sent it to you to resend the email, but not in rich text format : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1506
Otherwise there are a number of apps in the store that say that they support winmail.dat (search for 'winmail.dat')

  • If we have the original ipad, how can you open a pdf in the ibooks? the menu tap bar does not appear at the top of the screen like the new ipad2. Any suggestions?

If we have the original ipad, how can you open a pdf in ibooks? The menu bar does not pop up like it does on the ipad2. Any suggestions?

Are you in Safari and you want to copy them to iBooks, or you in a different app ? Assuming that you are using Safari, then if I open a PDF on my first gen iPad in Safari and tap on it, I then get a pop-up bar at the top of it with the 'Open In' options.

P.S. what is your operating system?

  • How do you open a .pdf file embedded in an e-mail?

    Good evening,
I used to be able to click on an attached .pdf file in an e-mail and it would open, but it no longer opens.
Can someone please suggest a solution?
      Thank you.

    Mr. Linc Davis,
      Good evening.
      Thank you for your help.
Does the above screen shot show up?
It says "How would you like to open this PDF document?"  Then there are three choices "open/edit in PDFescape, open normally, cancel".
I always choose "open normally" and the file would open (I think using Preview).
I can't open .pdf files attached to e-mails (in gmail) or on a website.
I can send you a hyperlink if you want.
      Thanks again for your help.
      This is very important...

Your screenshot is still not showing up.

  • How do you open a PDF to a specific page number in Safari 8.0?

I'm using the command #page=33 to try to force Safari to open a PDF to a specific page number. While this works fine on just about every website browser, it doesn't seem to work in Safari. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

The problem is most likely with the Safari PDF plugin, which doesn't process the open parameters correctly. To be fair, though, this is not a part of the PDF ISO specification but something that Adobe implemented on their own in their PDF plugins, so other applications are not obliged to follow it.
If you switch to using the Adobe plugin then it should work, even in Safari.

  • How can you open a PDF file in Preview or save it as Preview?

    .

Drag and drop it onto Preview's icon, or select the file, *Get Info* on it, and in the *Open With...* menu in the Get Info window, select Preview.
A PDF file that won't open in Preview is an Acrobat-only file, and there's nothing you can do about that.

  • How can I open a PDF into an iBooks folder other than PDF folder?

How can I open a PDF directly into a folder in iBooks other than the PDF folder?  I have different folders made and am currently having to open into the PDF folder and then move to the correct folder. Can I open directly into the needed folder?

No, I don't think so. The pdf isn't capable of knowing which folder you would like it to open in – all it knows is that it is a pdf. It's up to you to put it in the appropariate folder.

  • How can I open a PDF in iBooks on iPhone 5s?

I have PDFs in iBooks. When I try to open them it says I should open them with Adobe Reader. I downloaded Adobe Reader but can't seem to get the PDFs to open with it.
I found a previous thread saying that you can't use Adobe Reader with iBooks, but that was before the 5s came out, so I'm starting a new thread. If you can't open a PDF from iBooks with Adobe Reader, why is it telling me to use Adobe Reader? And how else can I open it?
This shows what happens when I try to read my PDF, and click on the icon that's supposed to let me open it in Adober Reader:

This particular file is a PDF Portfolio, which needs Flash to display correctly. When you open a PDF Portfolio in the Adobe Reader mobile it will open in list view to get around the fact that Flash isn't supported on iOS. So, it won't open properly in a native viewer on iOS only within the Adobe Reader.

How can I open excel pdf files

    Hi mmart1957,
Do you have Excel files, PDF files, or PDF files that have been converted to Excel? If you're working with PDF files, you'll need either Reader or Acrobat to open the files. If you have a converted Excel file, then you'll need Excel to open it.

Do you have any graphics editing software like photoshop or something similar.?
Surely you can just open both images, resize the image you want to add, then copy and paste it into the main image. Save this as a new file and set it as the background.
If you need a graphics editing program you can download one called The Gimp for free. Just make sure you have X11 installed.

    Hello,
I'm not a specialist, but I think that you could configure these information in the /Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf file
    # Aliases: Add here as many aliases as you need (with no limit). The format is
    # Alias fakename realname
    <IfModule mod_alias.c>
        # Note that if you include a trailing / on fakename then the server will
        # require it to be present in the URL.  So "/icons" isn't aliased in this
        # example, only "/icons/"..
        Alias /icons/ "/appli/9IAS/Apache/Apache/icons/"
        Alias /jservdocs/ "/appli/9IAS/Apache/Jserv/docs/"
        Alias /javacachedocs/ "/appli/9IAS/javacache/javadoc/"
