How do you play songs in your playlists now?

When I click on my playlist - it seems to only play one song. The playbutton in the viewing frame doesn't seem to work. Is the idea that i now have to add songs in my playlist to this new "up next" feature to play an entire playlist? If so that seems like a step backward.
Thanks for any thoughts and help you might have.
*UPDATE*
Is seems that all of my songs since upgrading are now un-checked. The solution was to select all songs in the library, right click the selection, and click on "check selection"
Things are now working as expected

I'm getting very confused about all this.
It seems like, if I'm using a playlist of podcasts, and the playback is set to random, then only one song/track/podcast will play - and then it'll stop. When I check "Up Next", there's nothing there.
If I turn off the random playback, then it plays through, and "Up Next" shows the next items in the playlist - in the playlist order. So the way to play podcasts is to play them straight through. You're not allowed to play them randomly, for reasons that utterly escape me.
With audiobooks, I don't know what the **** (EDIT: ha! even that word is blanked?! I thought I was restraining myself!) is going on. Some playlists will let me do random play, and others will not. I have no idea what distinguishes one from the other.
In sum: with podcast playlists, random play doesn't work at all - only one track will play. With audiobooks, that is sometimes an issue.
Thus far music playback seems to be fine and largely as it should be.

  • HT204406 How Do You Add Songs To Your Playlists With Match?

I bought a subscription to iTunes Match.  I'm using iTunes 10.6.3.25 on a PC with a Windows 7 OS. When I attempt to drag a track from my music collection to an existing Playlist, a window containing the following warning appears on my screen:
"iCloud playlists can only contain songs from your iCloud music library.
If you continue, this (name of Playlist) will be removed from iCloud and will be available on this computer."
I can click onto my choice of one of the two boxes below the message.  One says Remove Playlist & Continue.  The other says Cancel.
I'd like to be able to add songs to my Playlists at any time and set Match so that it backs up the Playlist.  How can I do this and avoid the above message that I'm receiving from Apple?

I was having this very same issue and by reading through the posts I learned to update iTunes Match. I subscribed to iTunes Match a while back but for some reason, maybe through an iTunes update, iTunes Match was switched off. I turned it on and it updated. After that I was able to add songs to Playlists. Hope this helps, if you haven't already figured it out. Cheers.

  • How can you shuffle songs in a playlist in itunes 11?

You used to be able to create a playlist, shuffle it, then synch it to your ipod.  This was done easily with a shuffle button in the library.  In 11 that button is no longer there.  How can you do this now?

Your question is clear, but you then go on to say something completely different. I've answered your question "how can (you) shuffle songs in a Playlist in iTunes 11".
In Playlists, click on the "start playing in shuffle mode" icon (that I've ringed). And...
In this next shot (the space you need to watch), you can see the Shuffle icon (ringed in larey lime) is blue, so it's "on", and I've also clicked on the "show me what's coming up next" icon (ringed in red).  Study the list of upcoming songs. It's the Playlist we're in, but shuffled:
    Hey presto!
Now - if you actually mean something else, such as: "create the Playlist, adjust the order of the songs and then Sync it to the iPod"; then as before, you can drag songs within a Playlist to whatever order you want and Sync the Playlist - as before. I've no idea what the "button" you refer to, looked like. Can you explain?

  • How do you choose songs from your ipod instead of from the car dashboard while your ipod is plugged into your car?

How do you choose songs from your ipod instead of from the car dashboard while your ipod is plugged into your car?

It depends on your car stereo. On the JVC we have you can select either "Head Mode" or "iPod Mode" when you're plugged into the USB port. Ipod Mode lets you select the songs from the iPod although the radio still controls the volume. I believe the Alpine I have does the same thing.

  • How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

Do you mean remove them from the iPod or transfer them back to your computer? You can't transfer photo's back to the computer with iTunes. To retrieve photos from an iPod try:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
To remove individual photos from an iPod you delete or remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synch photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," delete or remove them from My Pictures.

  • How do you (or can you) play songs from your ipod on itunes?

Im trying to play my the songs on my iPod with itunes that I just installed on my friends laptop. The problem is, the place where it says Charles's (me) Laptop, the songs are all grayed out and I cant select any of them.

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. Check out the links below and make the change on your own computer before you connect it to the second one:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing Your Songs Manually
    Some additional info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • How can you get songs off your IPAD if you have it on there two times

I have the same song on my Ipad two times how can I get them off.

On the page where you have your songs, on the right hand side of the song, swipe your finger to the right and the delete button will appear.  It only takes a quick swipe.  If you hold your finger in on the song first, it will start playing.

  • How do you delete songs from your ipod???

How do i delete songs on my ipod

How you delete content from your iPod depends how you have it set to update:
If you are updating automatically then delete the files from the iTunes library and next time you connect they will automatically be deleted from your iPod. Highlight the file and press the delete key on your keyboard, or right click and choose either Clear or Delete, depending on which version of iTunes you are using.
If you are updating manually, connect your iPod and click on the icon when it shows in the iTunes 7 source list click on the chevron ( the little triangle) to the left of the iPod icon This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the traditional song view. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly.
To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key.
To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod

  • How do you get songs on your ipod if downloaded on a different computer?

    Hello:
I purchased songs from itunes using my PC at my office. The songs downloaded and I was able to listen to them from that computer. When I tried to sync them to my ipod, there was a message that using that computer would erase my library. So, I went home and thought I could sync the purchased songs to my ipod from my home computer, but the songs didn't show up in my library. Do I have to somehow transfer the songs downloaded at my office to my home computer where I originally set up my library? If so, how do I do that? Thank you in advance for your help.

The iTunes/iPod software isn't set up to let you sync songs from more than one libray, but if you manually manage the iPod you can add tracks from multiple computers without removing the existing content. Personnaly I think syncing with a library is a much better way to manage your iPod, so I'd suggest you just copy the stuff you bought at work onto a memory stick, then take it home and import it into your iTunes library there.

  • How do you remove songs from your iPad and iPhone?

My iPad's plugged into my Mac, and I want to remove some songs but can't find a delete button on either my iTunes or iPad.
    What's the secret?

Very helpful. Be aware that the confusion here was what to click in iTunes once your device was plugged in the USB of your computer. If you open the device pulldown in the left column you'll see Music, Movies, etc. I was selecting Music, which seemed logical, but was not able to uncheck the songs I wanted off my iPad. But if you click/select the listed device, and then click Music in the tabs at the top of your iTunes page, you'll see all your music in your Music library from which you can check to port to your device, or if already on your device, uncheck if you want them off it.
NOTE: be sure after you click Music to click Sync Music, but then BE SURE to click the radio button for "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres." Doing so then displays all your songs in our iTunes Music Library with checkboxes by each one.

James, you are going to have to be a lot more specific as to what's going on when you try to sync your music to your iPod before anyone has a clue on how to start to help you. Please include what kind of iPod you have, what version of iTunes you're using, any error messages or error codes that are happening. • How do you play music from a playlist on an iPhone without using WiFi and iCloud?

I travel in a RV and frequently park in campgrounds that do not have WiFi. I've been told I can copy iTunes playlists (selected from my copied CDs on my Mac) onto my iPhone 5S. I can then, using a mini stereo jack go from the output on the iPhone to the aux input on my DVD player and thereby play my playlists of copied CD music on my RV sound system. All well and good except I tried my Music app on my iPhone and could not find a play function. I found the iTunes Radio but that only seemed to work with a WiFi connection. What am I missing?
As you can tell, I am not experienced with the iPhone although I've used a Mac for years. Is there a basic tutorial on how to accomplish my stated task or at least use the basic music function? I've tried to find something on the Apple website but haven't been able to find anything yet.
    Thanks in advance.

    Chris -
Those 2 playlists were a total of 498 songs. I have just been using the default rate when I load a CD and click on import into iTunes. Is there a better way? My second 2 playlists have about 330 songs plus about another 20 I'm going to load today and then stop and see about syncing them on my iPhone as well. I've gotten about half of my CDs imported. This is obviously a do-as-you-get-time task that will take quite a while. Not so much importing the CD, but listening to at least a couple bars of each song to see which I want to put on a playlist.
