  • Survey: how do you power off your nano?

This is basically a quick survey on how people normally power off their ipod nano.
i have a 2gb black nano and have noticed some problems with turning the nano off by "holding the pause button" as this seems to reset my clock to 12am when i turn the nano back on after awhile.
so currently i just hit pause and let it sit and the nano shuts itself off eventually. so far i have had no problems with this method.
has anyone seen problems with this method or the other one? thanks!

    hi jeff,
yes i have reset the nano multiple times and have even restored it multiple times. i think maybe the problem i am seeing lies in holding the pause button to shut the unit down, perhaps I am pressing too hard. i notice when i power it on after a "hold" shutdown, sometimes the power surges (its a loud power-on sound) and thats when the 12:00am appears. All the other settings remain the same as I set it, just the RTC resets. This problem never happened with a "automatic" shutdown...
The reason for this survey is too see if anyone else has this problem and what the more "popular" way of shutting down the nano is.

    Hi bigmike94610,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
For iPod nano troubleshooting I would suggest the troubleshooting outlined in the following web link. I would suggest working through the steps in the order presented on the website, but you may ultimately need to restore your iPod.

    Remi,
How long did you hold these buttons for? Did you try more than once?  Have you tried letting it charge for a bit and trying again?

  • How do you factory reset your ipod once itsbeen disabled

how do you factory reset a ipod touch once its been disabled?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How do you dowload songs from iPod nano 7th generation to iTunes on another computer?

I have iTunes on two computers. I bought a movie on one computer, but through a series of events had to erase my iPod on that computer and sync it to a different computer. Now, it will not sync the movie unless it is on the computer I bought the movie from. Because I erased my iPod on the computer I bought the movie, I have to download my iPod to the computer I bought the movie on in order to sync the movie to my iPod. How do you download everything on the Ipod nano 7th generation to iTunes on another computer?

  • I'm a newb-how do you get songs onto ipod nano?

i have iTunes, but i don't know how to get songs off iTunes, onto iPod, help!

Firstly, you must put some songs into your iTunes, e.g. rip the song from the CD. Once the song appear on the iTunes, connect your iPod with your computer, and a window will pop up and you need to register your iPod with the iTunes, then make a choice whether you would like to do a sync manually or auto.
By the way, seems that you are using window 98, I am not too sure whether it manages to support the iPod Nano, you need minimum XP or 2000

  • How can you get on your ipod that has a passcode that you can't rember the number, how can you get on your ipod that has a passcode that you can't rember the number

how can you get your passcode off ipod when you can't remember the numbers?

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes. If iTunes asks for the passcode and you can't enter the passcode or you do not have the syncing computer, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • How Do you Re-format your iPod Mini?

when i put my ipod into my computer it no longer picks up my ipod in itunes, then my Comp tells me i need 2 re format my ipod. how do i do this??

    Joey,
You use the latest iPod Updater which you download and install to your computer, run the program, attach the iPod when prompted (not before), and choose "restore".

  • How do you put games on ipod nano?

Just wondering how to put games and pix on an ipod nano from windows XP

I hope they have games that are better.
"They" don't. There are no other games.
    Those are really lame.
If you purchases a PSP, you can get all kinds of games and have a system used for gaming specifically.

  • How can you transfer photos from iPod Nano to new iMac?

My friend has an ipod nano. Here's a photo, not sure what gen. it is.
He had a PC that no longer works and has no data left on it. His original iPod Photos were stored on that PC that no longer works.
He has since purchased an iMac and is running Lion OS X, all up to date.
The problem: He NO LONGER has the ORIGINAL PHOTOS, only the ones on his iPod Nano, that used to work with his PC, which no longer functions.
He would like to copy the photos stored on his iPod Nano, to his new iMac.
Using finder, he went to Device, then clicked PHOTOS and dragged the folder to his desktop. It said there was 1.43 GB of content.
However, all that was saved to the desktop was (see other photo) Photo Cache, Photo Database and Thumbs. There are no photos at all. What is he doing wrong? Thanks.

There are a number programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
Tansee iPod Transfer Photo Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
TouchCopy Mac and Windows Versions (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod

  • How do you load all your ipod data onto a new computer

i have just connected my partners ipod, which is not a touch to his laptop
I am having difficulties getting his music to show on the laptop... any ideas?

You have to pick a forum for his iPod ( Nano, classic, etc. ) .
You may need to set the iPod to disk mode as well but that will depend on what sort of iPod he's got.
