How do you RE-INSTALL Leopard 10.5 over already installed LEOPARD upgraded?

I have an iMac computer that originally had Tiger installed. I did all the updates to Tiger and was ready for Leopard. I used "Super Duper" and cloned my hardrive before I installed the new Leopard (10.5 dvd) using th UPGRADE option. After installing Leopard (UPGRADE) and upgrading to 10.5.2 I felt I might get better results with either a "CLEAN INSTALL" or an "INSTALL & ARCHIVE." So, I put the LEOPARD 10.5 DVD back in my Mac, thinking the INSTALLER CHOICES of UPGRADE, ARCHIVE & INSTALL or CLEAN INSTALL would show up again and I could just ERASE this version of Leopard and do the CLEAN INSTALL or ARCHIVE & INSTALL and start over! Well when i put the DVD in the BIG X with the install and restart but not the INSTALL CHOICES? i tried 'OPTION" key hod down and "C" key hold down. what do I do? Thanks in advance for your support and help

If you installed the Time Machine & Airport update, the install disk probably doesn't recognize the HD.
really?? I would find that very strange. Archive and install should definitely be possible anyway. At the screen where one sees the choice of a disk to install to, there should be an "Options" button. Clicking on it should bring up a screen with a choice of upgrade and install (I believe that's the default), archive and install, and erase and install. Choosing archive and install should allow one to proceed.

  • How do you re-install an upgraded version?

I am trying to install my Creative Suite version 5.5 on to a new computer.  I had bought this as an upgrade to version 3 and have been using it on my old computer for some time.  I can download it ok however when i put the serial number in, it wants the original product serial number too.  I try and put the version 3 number in but it does not allow this and now i can not activate the software.   Does anybody know how I can get my new version activated?

You just do it through the App store. When you are logged into the app store you can just reinstall it on that computer without paying for it. That's how it works by design. Alternatively because of that you can install that purchased app on all of your computers. Now the catch is when there is a FULL PAID UPGRADE you would then have to purchase it all over again. But for right now you should be able to log into the app store and just redownload/install it

How do you clean install CS6 on a new PC Win7 64bit system?
I think I've upgraded all th way from Version 7.

There is no problem. If no previous, activated software is detected on the system, the upgrade installer will simply revert to its secondary mode and request to input the old serial in a second step for verification. Unless you do some exotic crossgrade/ sidegrade stuff, this should work with no problems whatsoever.

  • How do you re-install OSX on MBA?

    So, just out of curiosity
Does the MBA come with any installation DVDs?
How do you re-install them if you need to do so?
Is there a possibility to restore the OS to
    its original factory settings?
    Regards

    Hi,
as every Mac it comes with installer DVDs and you can install these either
    a) via the optional superdrive
    b) via remote install / disk sharing
If you take a backup directly after installation via SuperDuper, Carbon copy Cloner or TimeMachine you can restore that state easily.
    Cheers,

  • How do you view a friend's screen over the internet

how do you view a friend's screen over the internet, not on the same LAN?
    for 10.8.x and 10.9.x?
    thanks,
    g.

Look at LogMeIn, GoToMyPC or any other 'remote access service'.
    LogMeIn
    GoToMyPC
Apple has 'Back to my Mac' which could work well, however it is tied into iCloud & frankly makes it a real pain handling passwords to set it up.
I think the Messages application can allow you to request that someone can control the Mac via 'screen sharing' too, but I haven't tried across different OS X versions.

  • How do you un-install Lion and go back to Leopard?

How do I un-install Lion and return to  Leopard?

I believe you mean to return to Snow Leopard:
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • How do you reinsatll snow leopard from an external optical drive

Both my hard drive and superdrive crapped out. How do i reinstall from an external USB optical drive?  I am having a complete brain **** at the moment!

If your replacing your internal hard drive, why not also get the Superdrive replaced?
The OS X install disk supposedly won't boot from a external optical drive, only the internal one.
To OS X onto your new internal drive, your going to need another Mac with optical drive to take 10.6 off the disk and place it onto a bootable USB. Any Mac should do, as the 10.6 installer isn't going to be booted .
    http://www.maciverse.com/install-os-x-snow-leopard-from-usb-flash-drive.html
Other methods, requires another compatible Mac.
If you have machine specific 10.6 disks and you have another exact model of Mac, you can use a SATA to USB adapter (or enclosure) to use boot the second Mac with the disk and install 10.6 on the "extenral" drive, then place it back inside the other Mac.
If you have the 10.6.3 white retail so called "upgrade disk" for 10.5 (it also has the full 10.6 on it) and you have another Intel Mac that it's OS X version originally came with anything 10.6.2 or earlier, then it will boot that disk to install on the "external" drive, then it can be placed back into the other Mac.
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
Another internal drive access method is to use Firewire Target Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
Also one can use a external drive to install the compatible OS X version onto, then option key boot the Mac with the new drive off the external, install Carbon Copy Cloner and clone the extenral to the newly formatted internal drive.

  • How do you re-install an app you bought on a new drive?

Just bought my first app on the App Store (Pixalmator). Pretty cool. It drops the app on your doc and it looks like when you buy or update an app on your iPhone (little progress bar under it as it downloads). In the past, most application I purchase on-line come in a .dmg file. I can then store that off and back it up. If I ever need to re-install the app, I have it installer. Now, I don't really have an installer, just the app. How do we back it up and re-install it in the future? Like if I get a new mac or replace the hard drive, etc.?
    Thanks

You just do it through the App store. When you are logged into the app store you can just reinstall it on that computer without paying for it. That's how it works by design. Hello Joe,
actually, there is another possibility that might be interesting for you:

At "Release Planning" -> Availability Matrix
I can see that the country-specific baseline for Mexico is available for ECC 6.0, also, an updated version and a version for the Retail-industry is planned for Q3/Q1, respectively.
The documentation DVD of the best practices explains in detail the business processes, master data etc. that will be activated in the system if you install the SAP Best Practices Baseline Mexico in your system.

  • HT2404 How do you find keys to software that is already installed?

I am tasked with finding all the software keys of software that is installed on mulitiple Macs, and I have limited amount of physical keys.  Is there some type of program that will search the OS for installed software, and keys associated with them?  I know in windows you can install 3rd party software that will search and find programs and their keys.  Is this possible in Mac?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Devon

On PCs, most software keys are usually managed
with LM License Manager or buried somewhere
    in the registry.
With Macs, it is pretty much up to the developer
as to how license keys are handled.  Some bury there
keys in some encrypted file within the app bundle,
some  put them somewhere in preference files, either
system or user, and others handle them some other
way.  So basically, there really is no universal standard
as to how license keys are handled.
You may try entering the app names and variations of
such in Spotlight search and see what it comes up with
or put in "license" as a search term an see what you get.
Or, call the vendor of the software and find out, if they
    will reveal that.
