How do you record cassette tapes onto your iPod?

Does anyone know how to get music from all my old cassette tapes onto the iPod?

There are cassette players that can connect to computers. From there the audio can be recorded to mp3 file using software that comes with the device. Another option is to pay a company to do the conversion for you.
I have been considering this myself because I have some old tapes for which CDs were never released. Don't even know if the tapes are in good enough condition to make the conversion worth while.

How can you find out what generation your iPod touch is?

    Hi,
Here is help for the operating system:
If you are locked to iOS 3 then you have an iPod Touch 1st Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 4 then you have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 5 then you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 6 then you have an iPod Touch 4th Gen.
If you can get iOS 7 and have an iPhone 5 sized screen [bigger] you have the current iPod Touch 5th Gen.
I assume since it says you have iOS 5.1.1 you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
Also, you may want to sync it so iTunes can tell you or you can look at the model number on the back.
    Hope this helped.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE A BOOK FROM YOUR IPOD?

Do you mean an audiobook?  It will depending on how you have your iPod and iTunes setup.  In the Sidebar, you should be able to expand the items under your iPod so you can see Books.  Then rt click on the audiobook in your iPod's audiobooks and click delete.  If the Sidebar is not open, then on Windows, the Crtl + S key will open it.
If you're 'Syncing' you iPod to iTunes, there will be other steps to remove the audiobook.  You'd probably need to uncheck the audiobook in iTunes, then re-sync.

  • Can you download music straight onto your ipod nano 7th generation without the use of a computer?

so can you download music straight onto an ipod nano without having to sync to a computer, i'm just wondering because my dad wants an ipod but just for music so there's no point him getting an ipod touch, and he doesn't own a computer so he wouldn't be able to sync. he doesn't live with me also so it would be a pain if he had to use my computer every time he wanted to add music to his ipod.
    thankssss

No. Sorry. The only way to transfer the music to your ipod is through syncing in iTunes. Cheers!

Oh, and I don't know if this makes any difference, but it's one of the new iPod Nanos-the ones with the camera. Please, someone send help!

  • How can you get songs already on your iPod back into iTunes?

I previously posted this question under a really bad title and got no answers, so here's a quick summary with a more relevant title:
Due to some mistakes I made, I lost most of my music library from my computer (& iTunes), but I still have all the songs on my iPod (which I backed up). The problem is that if I try to sync it with iTunes, iTunes simply tries to ERASE any songs on my iPod that aren't already in iTunes. Even if I set the synchronization to manual, which would stop the erasing, I still don't know how to get the songs back onto my computer. (They are stored in an unusuable form on the iPod.)
Below is the original post with more details. This can't be such an unusual situation - there must be a way to recover songs on your iPod back to your computer...
Note to Apple: I'd love to buy a lot more from the Apple store but I can't use iTunes at all until I resolve this.
I had to get a new computer. (I'm using a PC but I love Macs.) The new computer is running XP Pro and I have a 4th generation iPod (click wheel).
Initially I copied the iPod music directory from the old computer to the new one and launched iTunes. It worked - but 60% of my library was missing, including all but 2 of my purchased songs!
Luckily I still have my entire library on my iPod. So I backed up my iPod, then uninstalled iTunes and deleted the iTunes directory from my PC. Then I reinstalled iTunes. Guess what? Somehow it still remembered the previous library (with 60% missing!) And when it saw my iPod attached, it deleted all the songs to match!
Lucky I made that backup - I copied it back to my iPod and things seem fine. But how do I get the songs from my iPod back into iTunes? Especially the ones I purchased from the Apple store. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you kind folks.
    - Jeff

In iTunes, go to Preferences > Advanced > Importing. Set it to the format that you want your songs to import in. (I use AAC). Insert the CD in your computer drive. Depending on how your preferences are set up, iTunes will ask if you want to import the CD to your library OR (if it doesn't ask) click and drag from the CD the song(s) you want in your library. Drop them on the Music/Library listing in the left-hand pane in iTunes. It will add the songs to your library.
To get them on your iPod, connect it to your computer and allow it sync automatically (see settings at the bottom of the Summary window when iPod is connected) or set it to sync manually and drag the drop the items you want onto the iPod's icon in the left-hand pane.

  • How do you get music off of your Ipod that is not wanted?

My ipod has automatically taken all of my music from my itunes library. However there is some music that I do not want to have on it. How do I take selected songs off the ipod? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Use your iTunes preferences (on the top menu bar: iTunes->preferences->ipod
(with your iPod connected to the computer) and change the transfer preferences to specific play lists or set it to manual update (see below for deleting individual songs). I have several play lists on iTunes which I automatically update to the iPod.
(from the iTunes HELP file under "ipod preference, deleting songs..."
Deleting songs from your iPod, iPod mini, or iPod shuffle
You can remove individual songs from your iPod, iPod mini, or iPod shuffle. (Deleting a song from your iPod does not delete it from your iTunes music library.)
    ¥
To delete a song from your iPod or iPod mini, first make sure the player is set up to transfer songs manually (in the iPod pane of iTunes Preferences). Then select the player in the Source list, select the song you want to delete, and press the Delete key.
    ¥
To delete a song from your iPod shuffle, make sure your iPod shuffle is attached to your computer, then select the song you want to delete in the iPod shuffle playlist, and then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
For information about setting up your iPod or iPod mini to transfer songs manually, search "iTunes and Music Store Help."

  • How do you update and back up your ipod touch 4 to ios 5?

So I really want to update my ipod touch 4 to ios 5, as it has many new features. The problem is, i am afraid to because i am worried that all my apps, music, and pictures will get deleted. I know many people say to back it up, but when you back it up, do you press update and then does all your data get saved? If not what do you have to do. I read so many answers on how to back up and update but im still in doubt. Also, the songs on my ipod are not from my itunes, they are from my cousins, so do i have to back up on her pc? I just want a very simple step by step process on how to update and back up your ipod,(keeping all apps, music, and pictures) the safe and secure way. Thank you, anything will help.

Apple has stopped signing iOS 5 firmware. The latest version available for your iPod is 6.1.3. You must first backup your iPod then press Check for Update. Backing up will save all of your data on the iPod Touch and your sync options. And no, you can backup on your PC, press Sync and allow iTunes to transfer purchases and copy them to your iTunes library. If your iTunes library does not contain the music on your iPod, I recommend trying to drag it to your library from your iPod. And make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes. When the update finishes, restore your iPod from the backup you made. And to save pictures from your Camera Roll, go into My Computer and open the iPod and copy the pictures to your computer.

  • Helllppppp meeeeee How do you stick video's on your Ipod?

Yeah, I know there are alot of these threads, but, there not helping me. I just got an Ipod for my birthday, Today and I really want to put some of my favorite videos on there, but it won't let me. I converted them using "Videora Ipod converter but it doesnt do anything when I import them....HELP!

As long as your movies are in Quicktime format, all you need is Quicktime Pro. Then you can use "export movie to iPod" option. If your movie is not quicktime, you will need to find a program that can convert it first. The best place to look is versiontracker.com. Type in the two file formats you need to convert [i.e. VOB and quicktime] and see what pops up. Most conversion software is shareware.
    Good Luck
