How do you revert to FCP 10.0.5 after unintentionally importing FCP 10.1.1?

    Yup.
I have two separate backups of my important stuff. After two I figure someone is out to get me with intent.
Just a switch on power, connect and a few clicks and I'm back up and running if that "OH NO" thing happens.
I talk to people who do not use their computer for what they call "serious work", thinking their stuff is not worth backing up.
Then after a short discussion they realize that the 2,000 or more photos/memories or whatever, could be all lost in a few seconds they pretty much race down, buy a drive and get their stuff backed up.
Moral of the story: BACK UP

  • How do you record addresses for a group in contacts?

How do you record addresses for a group in contacts?

You can't create groups in the contacts app and even if you create a group in icloud.com, the group is useless for email purposes on the iPad. At least I have never been able to get the groups that I create in icloud.com to appears as options for emailing.
There are third party apps that will let you do this.
    MailShot
    http://solubleapps.com/mailshot/
    Group Email with Attachments
    http://www.redbits.com/iphone/groupemail/
There is also a workaround where you type all of the email addresses that you want to create a group for in the Notes app separated by a comma, between each address. Copy and paste that one long "email address" in the contacts app and name it whatever you like. Select that as your group when you want to send the group email.
I Haven't done the workaround in ages, so experiment with it first. You may need to leave a space after the comma before you start trying the next email address.

  • How do you record video with usb mic and have the audio from garageband be the sound when recording and not just your normal voice but garage band effects for youtube?

How do you record video with usb mic and have the audio form garageband be apart of the video when recording, meaning the audio from garageband and echo  and not just your normal voice for youtube post?its not add the garageband audio its just normal voice from mic no  effects is going thru?

    Hi Life93,
What you describe would be possible by recording your video, then removing the audio from it and adding audio from GarageBand once the video is in iMovie (I presume here that you are using iMovie for your video production. Other applications may need different methods.)
See this thread on how to remove the audio from a clip in iMovie -

  • How would you record overdubs on FCP files?

I have about ten hours of footage for a doc I had translated. I have a guy coming over to do overdubs, and I just realized I don't know how I am going to have them recorded! FCP can't record them right? Any suggestions for software or other ideas. I would love to have something which was somewhat integrated so I don't have to export all ten hours of footage from FCP.

Here's a link to a freeware program called Audio In. It's about the simplest tool you can use for voice over. It records AIFF files that easily import to FCP.

  • How can you record stream from a webcam like YouTube does it

We need to create a webcam stream recorder with FMS which should be able to record stream in some predefined quality (128000/bandwidth,95/quality) and will work also in the situation when the user doesn't have enough bandwidth to transfer this stream in realtime.  YouTube has a solution which is using something like a buffer and when the user stops recording they continue to send video data to the server until the stream is completely recorded.  We are recording the stream from our user's webcam, but when the bandwidth is not consistent or not enough, we are losing video data and ending up with poor quality recordings. What we need is that the record stream is buffered on the user's computer and the video data continues to be sent to our server even after the user has finished recording so that we end up with the complete stream (video data). We need some idea how to do this - which specific features should we used for this solution?

Does it have to be a live solution? Or can you have the user record locally and then upload to your FMS server?

  • How do you record an external Midi Instrument + Software instrument track down to a combined Audio track ?

I have two piano sounds I'm trying to blend into one. One is an external MIDI module set up as an external instrument within Logic and the other is a software plugin instrument (Ivory II). I'm trying to record the blended pianos into a single audio track so I can ditch the midi track and more so the CPU intense software Instrument track (it's killing my setup....). For the life of me I can't figure out how to assign both these entities as inputs and get them to record simultaneosuly onto an audio track.
My setup is a Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2 with the following assignments:
The external MIDI module's audio output is routed stereo directly into channel strips 9 and 10. By default the firewire output of this channel strip is returned to firewire outputs 9-10 on the studiolive, but this really doesn't matter since recorded audio is being monitored thru the main output buss assigned to channels 17 and 18.
My software plugin (Ivory II) is routed to output channels 17 and 18 which is the default setting for routing the output to the master buss for the Presonus.
On my audio track that's setup in Logic I can assign the inputs to 9 and 10 and I get the external midi module's output to record, but I cannot find any way to get the software instruments output into this mix because there is no input assignment for this.
Is there any way to combine these two entities and assign them to record onto a single audio track or am I missing something here? If there's no simple way to do this, can somebody offer any tip or ideas on how to accomplish the same thing here. I really need to ditch the software plugin. My setup only seems to be able to handle one plug in at a time on the software instrument side. Not sure why that is because my setup is not that old and the memory on my MBP is maxed out at 4GB....but that's another topic of discussion
Any suggenstions would be much appreciated...

    Thanks for the reply....
I actually tried freezing the software instrument track and that had little if no effect on CPU. I then read in the book or somewhere that the freeze function really only works on effect plugins. Don't know if that's true in all cases, but that seems to be what's happening.  Still would like to combine these tracks and I'm guessing I'm going to have to get creative with bussing or subgroups to make this happen. Unfortunately I think the fact that my Presonus board has hardmapped output routings for all the inputs makes that difficult, but haven't actually tried yet. I'm thinking if I can reroute the midi modules audio output input into the Presonus to a subgroup and then route the software instrument plug in to the same subgroup that I can then mix/capture this and hopefully route the audio's input to the subgroup to pick up the mix.
Does this make sense to anybody reading this?
We'll see and I'll post the results if it works....
    thanks...b

  • How do you record soft synth output as audio?

    Hi,
I'd like to record the output of a softsynth like the ES-2 into an audio track, so I can then mess with the audio (reversing, chopping up, etc.). How do I set this up? I can't seem to get anything happening so far.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John
Mute all other tracks, goto to output 1-2 there is a bounce button. It will bounce the softsynth track to an audio file. you can then add this file to your arrangement.
    hope this helps

  • How do you do Delete FCP?

Ok here is the deal, I had issues with FCP 4.5 HD and I tossed some files and reinstalled. Now, FCP will act like it is going to launch and at the end of the FCP start up window is aborts. I have tried reinstalling twice.
PLEASE, help me figure out what I need to do to get this da*n program to work again. I do NOT want to back up my drive and reinstall the entire system and all the other software if at all possible.
    Thanks

Note to Apple: You guys are idiots not to have an 'Uninstall' for your software!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Shane,
I appreciate you offering help - I did already do just that without any luck.
I will have to mention that you are right, I should refrain from stating the obvious. Apple at one time was a much more logical platform than a Windows machine. However, where is the logic that you have to 'toss' files away in the hopes that you get all of them to reinstall 1 software program AND if that doesn't work spend countless hours backing us, formatting your drive, installing your OS and ALL the software and authorizations that were on your system...do you seriously think having to do ALL this is the best way to do this? My Windows machine has an 'uninstall' but not my Mac? OSX has been out for how long?
So, I ask you, why should I 'refrain from this kind of talk'? Did I offend you? Was this directed at any one of the 'us' you speak of? If someone doesn't want to help me because I said that the people at Apple are a bunch of idiots for over looking such a major feature like this - hey, no problem. Then the day this happens to them (and chances are it will) I would like to see if they agree or disagree with my statement.

  • How do you record cassette tapes onto your iPod?

Does anyone know how to get music from all my old cassette tapes onto the iPod?

There are cassette players that can connect to computers. From there the audio can be recorded to mp3 file using software that comes with the device. Another option is to pay a company to do the conversion for you.
I have been considering this myself because I have some old tapes for which CDs were never released. Don't even know if the tapes are in good enough condition to make the conversion worth while.

  • How do you record from 2 microphones simultaneously?

I heard that I have to appy an Aggregrate Device, but how do I Logic to use this?

So, if you aggregate the Steinberg and the Samson and choose that aggregate device as your input device in Logic (forget GB for now), you don't get (at least) a separate Input 1 and Input 2 to choose from on your channel strip?
Are both interfaces "class compliant", meaning that they don't need their own drivers? If so, they should work, although there are devices that simply cannot be aggregated.
Are you now also saying that Logic doesn't even see the Steinberg C1 on its' own? If that is so, either it needs drivers installed, or it is not compatible with your OS version... ..if Logic cannot even see the Steinberg on it's own, of course it will also not see it when aggregated...
O, and you do know how and where to make an aggregate device? Just to make sure: you need Audio MIDI Setup, it is in Applications>Utilities; when it's opened, make sure you select the Audio Window to create the AggDev.

  • How do you record voice audio?

Hi, I have been unable to record any voice audio at all. I have tried several types of microphones, and went directly into garage band, but no audio has been recording at all. The speaker part of the audio is working just fine.
I am wondering if perhaps garage band is not set up properly, or if there is a problem with the sound card or driver? However, since the audio out is working fine, it seems that there may be some other issue somewhere.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Hi-
I was wondering if it was a driver or a sound card issue?
    It is neither.
Unless you have a special microphone with a built-in preamp (self powered), like DaddyPaycheck said, standard microphones run at line level, and won't work with out a preamp.

  • How can you record the screen of any device with no computer and no jailbreak?

I would like to record the screen to record my gameplay and other stuff. Please help.

Josh, this was my first gripe when I moved to IronPort toward the end of 2008; I forget the version of Asyncos we were on then. Remember that the design philosophy (as I'm given to understand it) is that you shouldn't have to nursemaid it as much as some other gateways, though achieving that is more a question of developing robust mail policies than simply plugging in the device and running the setup wizard.
I found the Asyncos GUI a bit of a pain to work with for header analysis, but I've adapted over time. It's only an annoyance now when you need to see an attachment file name that scrolls across three or four screen widths, and by comparison SharePoint gives me more grief in that department (we're on a paleolithic version here).
For some things we send a copy of quarantined items out to a dedicated mailbox only accessible by staff monitoring our gateways; for more details see my posting in your thread "Can't View Video Files Attached To Emails".
