How do you remove songs from icloud so space not taken on devise?
I downloaded my current purchases and previous purchases into my icloud on my ipad . I did not know it would take up the space on the ipad. But, I cannot figure out how to edit these songs in icloud so that All the purchases are not there. How do I go back to fix and specify what songs should be downloaded to limit space? I don't see the benefit of doing this, when i could have kept my "purchase playlist" to sync anyway.
That worked thanks! I also discovered that you can hold the album cover art down(like when you want to delete an app) and an "x" pops up to delete the entire album or artists. That makes it easy to get rid of my wifes Pop music. Thanks again.

I have a iPhone 5 with the most up to date software and I have songs appearing on my phone that I've deleted prior too from iTunes on the computer. The answer to the question in the title of the thread is yes, but it is not necessarily a good idea. At some point you are likely to find you need to restore your iPod for one reason or another, or it could be lost, stolen or damaged. If your songs aren't on your computer, and backed up too, then you will be less than happy.

I deleted several hundred songs through the finder, but they are still listed in the iTunes Library. Is there any way to have iTunes scan for missing audio files and remove them from the list? I can do it manually, but I was hoping there was a way for iTunes to scan for missing media.
Thanks!Search Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes for something like "dead tracks", or just browse his scripts. You should find a script that will do this. I know that there were at least one or two, but I can't access Doug's site right now to get the exact names.

My iPad's plugged into my Mac, and I want to remove some songs but can't find a delete button on either my iTunes or iPad.
What's the secret?Very helpful. Be aware that the confusion here was what to click in iTunes once your device was plugged in the USB of your computer. If you open the device pulldown in the left column you'll see Music, Movies, etc. I was selecting Music, which seemed logical, but was not able to uncheck the songs I wanted off my iPad. But if you click/select the listed device, and then click Music in the tabs at the top of your iTunes page, you'll see all your music in your Music library from which you can check to port to your device, or if already on your device, uncheck if you want them off it.
NOTE: be sure after you click Music to click Sync Music, but then BE SURE to click the radio button for "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres." Doing so then displays all your songs in our iTunes Music Library with checkboxes by each one. -

You need to connect to your computer's iTunes and delete them via there. Unless you are in the US you may want to copy them to your computer first (if they are not already there) as currently only US customers can re-download music purchases. You can use File > Transfer Purchases to copy them; and you can delete them via the Music section under the iPad device on the left-hand side of iTunes

That all depends on which eBook app you're using. If you archive a book using the Kindle app, it is removed from your iPad. It's still available in your Kindle account should you ever wish to access it again but it's not taking up space on your device.

You are correct, you cannot delete songs from iTunes in the Cloud. This is where all of your purchases are permanently stored so if you want to re-download something you can. Sometimes purchases will no longer be available, if the merchant pulls them from the iTunes store, but for the most part, all of your past purchases will remain in iTunes in the Cloud.
This has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes Match.

How do you delete songs from Itunes? I have many that show up as many as 7 times and itunes will not allow me to remove them.
I have tried to Hilight them and hit Control Delete nothing happens. I tried to just Delete one, but when you hit delete nothing happens.

What you need to do is go to music, and slide your finger to the right on the song you want to remove from your device. The song will still show in the music app but will have a cloud with an arrow beside it and you would have to re-download the song to your device to be able to listen to it. And also, this will only take the song off your device and it won't be removed from your library on iTunes. I hope this helps!

You can remove them manually on the device. Swipe across the track to bring up a delete button.

Swipe left or right with 1 finger
a "Delete" button in red will appear
Same with hiding purchases in your app store app, flick left or right to and tap hide to remove it from the list

If you add an item to a slideshow, you'll usually see 2 entries for that image in the assets panel - one represents the thumbnail, and the other represents the larger 'hero' image.
It sounds like you may have added the same image to your slideshow twice. You can select one of the hero images or thumbnail images in your slideshow and use the delete key to remove it. Then the extra 2 entries in the assets panel should disappear. -
