How do you reset iMovie back to factory default

Hi,
I have a Mac pro where I am experiencing the "slow audio" problem.
I have just porchased a Mac Book, and importing video/audio with no issues.(latest software installed on both systems).
Is there a way to reset iMovie back to "factory defaults"?
Many thanks.
Eli

Bev hi,
Many thanks for your prompt reply.
Fantastic,all works as it should.
If any other users out there experience "slow" audio or the audio lagging behind the video when importing HD (Sony) tapes into iMovie, try Beverley's tip.It worked for me.
Cheers

I have a MacBook Pro running it's latest update (10.7.3) , and would like to reset the keyboard light and the desktop light to it's default.
    How?
    thanks

No "default". It's either Off, On (to a user defined brightness) or Automatic.
Automatic, if the "Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light" checkbox is ticked in System Preferences / Keyboard / Keyboard. "Low light" is determined  by a light sensor located to the left of the FaceTime video camera on the top edge of the display, the illumination threshold is not adjustable.
Manual will be dependent on pressing the bright/dim keys on the keyboard, automatically mapped to the F6/F5 keys on the top row.
Display brightness can also be set to automatically adjust, with the "Automatically adjust brightness" checkbox in System Preferences / Displays.

How do you put a 7 year old desk top Mac back to factory settings?

You must have the original install discs. If you don't have them you can order a set from Apple for a small fee. You'll need your serial number. If you have your discs post back and we'll instruct you how to erase and reinstall back to factory spec.

Best way is to restart on the Mac OS X install disk, then erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.  Make a backup of the content first as this will remove everything on the hard drive.

Need to set this company phone back to default settings.

As far as I know, you can't.  Contact the former employee and inform them that you are starting a collections proceeding against them since they returned the phone in a non-working condition unless they cooperate by erasing the phone and removing it from their account as outlined in the article you were just reading.

Go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • How the **** do you reset the security questions? And how do you add a backed up library to a new computer?

So I have a couple issues and I am extremely frustrated, I'm about to smash all of my apple products.
First issue is how do you reset the security questions? Can't seem to find the "forgot answer" of anything like that.
Second is my old comp crashed so I backed up my iTunes to an external HD, got the file on the new computer, installed iTunes, got alot of my old music from iCloud, but didn't get all my music so I went to add a folder like the support thing I found said, but there's only an add file option, do I have to add each song?
Is there a way to get the songs from my iPhone to the iTunes library? It has all of my music on it as well
    Thanks
    Mike

    For the security questions......
On your computer or safari on your iOS device navigate to:
              For Canada - https://appleid.apple.com/ca.
              For United States - https://appleid.apple.com/us/.
Click the "Manage your Apple ID" button, and sign in to your iCloud account.  Once in, on the left side select "Password and Security", and this will populate our options on the right side.  You should see an option to reset your security questions.
Also see this article about your "rescue email address" - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312.
If for any reason you can not reset these security questions, or get an error, then you may need to contact Apple directly - http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57.   Explain the issue, and they can get your to a "Account Security" agent, who will be able to verify your identity, and assist in resetting the security questions.
    For iTunes....
Is the music you are missing purchased from the iTunes store?  If so
you can Download Past Purchases - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

The machine came with 10.5, those disks are not available anymore from Apple.
You use the $29 10.6.3 white retail disks you get from Apple store online or already have in your possession.
Yes you upgraded OS X 10.5 to 10.6.3 with them, it also contains the entire 10.6.3.
When you "upgraded" your Applications and User accounts folders remained while only OS X 10.5 folders was replaced with 10.6.3 folders.
So if you hold the c or option key down while booting from the 10.6.3 disks, you can use Disk Utility to erase the entire drive and reinstall 10.6.3 only, like a brand new machine.

  • How do i reset/restore computer to factory settings???

how do i reset/restore computer to factory settings???

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

  • Grandaughter has locked i pad 2 with passcode and then forgotten number how do you reset i pad to get it to work again

grandaughter has locked i pad 2 with passcode and then forgotten number how do you reset i pad to get it to work again

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • How do I reset Apple Mail to Factory Settings?

How do I reset Apple Mail to factory settings? I had 7 emails accounts on there and was about to add my school email address. It wasn't going through though, so I went to the school's IT department to ask them to do it. Unfortunately, the IT guy couldn't fix the school email and worse, now ALL my emails accounts won't go online. They all have exclamation points to their right, and are constantly asking for passwords. No matter how many times I put in the right password, it still keeps asking for it. I tried fixing it from Mail Preferences and System Preferences but nothing works. It keeps saying Connection Error. I don't know what the IT guy tweaked but it messed up everything.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • I just bought the iPad Air and wanted to download an app and when I dismissed the page that came up that was offering free apps for the Air I pressed not now, how do you get that back?

I just bought the Apple iPad Air yesterday and I wanted to download a certain app from the app store.  When it first opened it had a page come up over the apps with free apps that you could download to the iPad. I clicked on the not now button, thinking it would reappear after closing and re-opening the app store, but it did not. How do you get this back so that I can have the opportunity of checking the apps out?
Thank you for any assistance that there may be for this.

After activating your iPad, go to the App Store and search for your free apps:
    1. Pages
    2. Numbers
    3. Keynote
    4. iPhoto
    5. iMovie
    6. GarageBand
If apps are still showing the price: sign out>reboot>and sign in again
