How do you resolved corrupted iTunes.cab error when installing iTunes 10.7.0.21? I am running on Windows XP

I just downloaded the latest iTunesSetup.exe from apple. Upon installation, a pop up message appeared stating that the iTunes.cab is corrupt. Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.
Windows users see tip at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18879381
You don't have to deauthorize the old one if you are still using it.  If you are not then you should deauthorize it.  Yes, authorize the new one.  You can have up to 5 computers authorized at any time.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components
If applicable, disconnect any iPod or iOS device and close Microsoft Outlook.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later).
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (see note 1 below)
    iCloud (if present)
MobileMe (if present) (see note 2 below)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot your computer. Delete any of the following folders where they can be found: (see note 3 below)
    C:\Program Files\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files\iPod
    C:\Program Files\iTunes
    also on 64-bit systems:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Download the iTunes setup file and run it to install. Use an account with administrative rights. This can usually be achieved by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as... or Run as Administrator. In some cases a combination of Shift or Ctrl keys may be required for the option to show, or it may not be necessary.
If you deleted iCloud and reinstalling iTunes doesn't automatically reinstall it visit iCloud Control Panel.

I get an apple application support error when installing itunes. It says uninstall and re-install.  Does not work.  same message.  What is a solution?

Is that an error 2 message?
If so, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

It's rarer to see these on Windows 7 than it is on Vista. Somtimes they're a bit easier to deal with on 7, too.
First, head to Windows Update and see if you can update the PC. If you can, and you collect updates without any errors, try another iTunes install.
If you get errors installing Windows Updates, double click on the failed updates in your Update history to bring up a small window containing alphanumeric codes for the erros. Are they also 800736FDs, or are you getting other error codes?

  • Windows Installer package error when installing itunes.

How can I reinstall Apple Software (Update) on my PC which is necessary to reinstall itunes?
Also when I've tried to reinstall itunes I'm constantly told there is a problem with the Windows Installer.  Are there any suggestions?  Thank you for any help that you may be able to advise.

    Let's try a standalone AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi install.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone ASU install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If not, what error message do you get? (Precise text, please.)

i deleted all of the itunes aplications but wasent able to re-install it.
i received an error. "There is a problem with this windows instaler package.A program required for this to completely install could not be run. Contact your cassete pasonel or your service vendor."
    what do i do??????

You have not given your operating system XP or Vista, but that sounds like a problem with Windows Installer, do you get a similar message if you try to install Quicklime without iTunes?
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
It the dynamic link library named?
You will find quite a few hits if you Google your error message, but I do not have experience with this particular problem myself. One refers to a problem with MFC42u.DLL.
Have you had any problems with your PC recently or changed anything just before you noticed the problem.

  • ISScript Error When Installing Itunes

Hi I have had an Ipod before and have Itunes 4.8 installed on my comp. Recently I've tried to install a newer version of Itunes onto my comp (Version: 6.0.1.3) and I get through most of the steps untill the Installer starts to remove the backup files and I am issued a Itunes error:
The Install Script engine on this machine is older than the version required to run this setup. If available please install the latest version of ISScript.msi or contact your support Personnel for further assistance.
Then the Install script error is followed by a Feature Transfer Error stating:
Error: -1603 Fatal Error occurred during instaltion. Consult Windows Installler (MSI.CHM) or MSDN for more info.
So, I went to the Installshield website and found this article here: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108322
I downloaded the one that says version six, being that is the version I am trying to install and that is what the procedure told me to do. (You'll understand when you go to the site)
Well the install of the ISScript goes fine but when I reboot and try to install Itunes again, I recieve the same errors as before.
Can anyone help me? Please help because I JUST ordered my Ipod Video today and it will be here soon.
Also, I tried to uninstall Itunes, but when I go to the Add/remove Programs, Itunes, nor Ipod Updator is not listed. Only Quicktime is. I was able to remove quicktime.
    Please help.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this

Hey Deb, wow I thought I had fixed the problem. The guy I talked to from Apple said it would work fine as long as I installed Service Pack 2 and guess what? It didnt. I contacted Apple again today and they're giving me a new response saying its a "Windows" problem and they can'thelp me out. So I went to installshield and typed in the second error I'm recieving, the 1603 error and It gave me a list of what I can do to troubleshoot it, yet I still have the problem. So I'm really not sure what I can do, I guess I will see what happens when my Ipod comes and I try installing Itunes from the cd. Maybe it will work.........(ya right) O well sorry for getting your hopes up but keep trying on it. I have no other ideas of how to fix this. Keep in touch!

  • Error when installing Itunes 7, need help!

Everytime i try installing the new itunes 7, i get this error, http://img84.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ituneshelpsl5.png

The Windows Installer service, the engine behind all MSI installers, performs installations with the built-in operating system account SYSTEM on behalf of the user. So it is SYSTEM's permissions on files, folders, and registry keys that ultimately matter. SYSTEM is normally the most powerful account, but if we run our computers as an administrator, it is possible to inadvertently curb SYSTEM's power by altering permissions with a program or directly ourselves. The result is failures at random points throughout the Windows experience. Based on the screenshot you posted follow these steps to re-grant Windows the permissions it needs to complete the installation.

Not a lot of documentation on that one, I'm afraid, but there's some general principles troubleshooting we can try with it that might get us moving forwards.
    (1) Do you currently have a copy of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package installed on that PC? If so, try downloading the following security update:
[Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-4 0ff-b072-9112bab119c2&displaylang=en#filelist]
Does iTunes install for you after applying that update?
    (2) If no joy there, head into your Windows Update and click on the Update History. Have a lot of Updates also been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the entries for the failed updates to bring up more information on each. What error codes appear for you for the failed updates? (Precise spelling, please.)
