How do you restore your iPod? HELP ASAP PLEASE!!

Okay, i've had my iPod for awhile, and this is the first problem i've ever had!
When i plug in my iPod into iTunes, a pop-up comes up and says :
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod 'Kelsey's IP."' Use the iPod UPDATER to restore the iPod to Factory settings"
I have NO idea what that means, i tried to reset it, but nothing happened? I went to preferences, and it doesnt even recognize that my Nano is plugged into the computer anymore! This happened after i plugged my Nano in, took it out of the connector, and then plugged it in again, and it didn't recognize it! PLEASE HELP ME! I don't know how to fix this & Don't know what i need to do to fix this!
THANK YOU
-Kelsey

Hello Kelsey!
Before you do a restore, first try to get your computer recognizing your iPod by putting it into disk mode, then connecting it to your computer again. See the details laid out here:
How to put your iPod into disk mode
Also, see these articles:
iPod appears in Windows but not in iTunes
iPod does not appear in "My Computer" or in iTunes
If you believe you need to restore your iPod, then I'll explain here how to restore your iPod.
Plug in your iPod.
Close iTunes if it is currently running.
Go to: "START -> All Programs -> iPod -> iPod Updater [the date of your iPod Updater's version]".
Open the iPod Updater. When it recognizes your iPod, click on the "Restore" button. Restoring should take about 5 minnutes.
Note that restoring your iPod will delete all the contents off of it, but will not affect your iTunes library.
If you have any trouble with restoring your iPod, or need any other explanation, just post back, and I'll be here to help you...I hope this helped!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How do you restore your ipod touch when disabled

my grand daughter put a screen passcode on her phone and forgot it.  How do you unlock it so she can use it again.

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • How do you Restore your ipod.....

Ok, so I have a 120gb ipod classic, and im running the latest itunes(10.2.2 as of now) on Windows Vista(64-bit).
soooo heres my problem. Whenever i try to connect my ipod to my computer, a dialog box comes up and tells me i can scan and fix, or continue without scanning. I click continue without scanning, and then itunes opens up and freezes. Then whenever i unplug, everything starts running perfectly, and another box pops up that says, cannot sync ipod required folder cannot be found. Ive tried 4 out of 5 Rs(i cant restore because itunes is frozen), ive tried updating drivers. I also tried putting my ipod into disk mode, and connecting it. Itunes doesnt freeze up this time,  but it doesnt reconize it, but windows does. I know its not my computer either, ive tired connecting it to another computer and the same thing happened.
Also, everything works on my ipod, i can listen to music, and play games perfectly fine.
Im officially out of ideas. If i could restore my ipod i would. Anyone having the same problem, or had the same problem. Any other tricks or tips i missed? Any help would be greatly appreciated

any help would be nice. I reallly want to listen to the new Foo Fighters album on my ipod

  • How can you find your ipod without your serial number or iclould

how can you find your ipod without a serial number or a iclould?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

Alos, the serial number will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.

The find my iphone app has nothong to do with it.
That app simply allow you to find other devices using your ipod.  It has nothing to do with fining the device on which it is installed.
If you set up the find my ipod feature that is built into your ipod and the ipod is on and it is connected to wi-fi and it has not been restored, then you may be able to get an approximate street address using icloud.
    Othrewise, it cannot be tracked.
