  • How do you rotate text in a cell?

I want to rotate the headings of the columns vertical like I've been able to do on Excel but I can't find the way to do it in Numbers. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

This comes up periodically as you can tell by the "More Like This" sidebar. Numbers (or Pages) cannot rotate text in a table cell. The solution for now is to use text boxes, rotate the text box & place the text box over the cell.
I suggest you leave feedback for the Numbers team regarding this. You can find it under the Numbers menu > Provide Numbers Feedback. That takes you to the same page as this link.

  • How do you rotate text

I am looking to rotate text 90 degrees. I cant seem to find this basic function in numbers.

    Hi Bru,
Text rotation is possible in Shapes and Text Boxes, but not in Tables. You can put a rotated image into a table cell, but you won't be able to use the text in the image in any functions.
Here's the way I prefer for placing rotated text into a Table Cell.
    Insert > Text Box
    Type text into box
Size the text and set the box dimensions to your liking - not critical on the size, but the proportions are important
Click once on the box to select the object, not the text inside
Rotate the object in the direction you desire
Command-C to copy the object to the Clipboard
    Switch to Preview.app
Command-N to make a PDF of the Clipboard Content
Command-C to place the PDF file on the clipboard
    Switch back to Numbers
Command-V to paste it to the cell where you want it
It takes less time to do it than to tell about it.

  • How do you rotate text in numbers

I'm trying to rotate the text in header row by 90 degrees.  Is this possible in Numbers?

You cannot rotate text in any cell of a table.  There are a variety of technoques to work around this limitation:
    1) rotate a text box with the header text in it:
    2) copy the desired header text (which is rotated) then open Preview and create a new document from the clipboard.  Then use the rectangular selection tool to surround one word, then copy, then paste that into one of the cells in you header:
Create new Preview doc from the clipboard contents:
Now copy words out of preview using the rectangular selection tool:
    copy.
now select the cell where you want this text:
There are some other ways (which you can find by searching this forum).
    Hope these help

"How do you turn text into a hyperlinx can't find menu at top in Muse

    Hello,
In order to turn a tet into Hyperlink, you first need to select the text and then in the toolbar look for "Links" option. Click on the dropdown and either select one of the pages or type in your own link.

  • In pages, how can I rotate text ?

In pages, how can I rotate text ?

The text needs to be in a TextBox which you can create from the ToolBar and the that can be rotated by control clicking near the top right corner of TextBox and dragging it around.
Alternatively click on the TextBox > Inspector > Metric > Rotate: enter value.

  • How do I make text sit on top of an image without it disappearing.

I am currently copying and pasting images with captions from quark express files to indesign cs6 files.
Everytime I copy and paste these images the captions which are on top of the image disappear behind
the image.  How do I put the text back on top of the image?  and in general how do you put text on top
of an image without it disappearing?

This is probably a really bad workflow that will end up biting you. I've not actually been able to copy a an image box from Quark and paste it into ID to test, so I don't know waht youare doing, exactly, but odds are you are not pasting a link to the image (doe sit show a link in ID's Links panel?). If not, you should be building this from scratch or opening the Quark file directly in ID (up to version 4 with out a plugin, later than that requires the Q2ID plugin from Markzware).

  • How do you rotate the PDF you created in Acrobat but keep everything on the page from rotating?

How do you rotate the PDF you created in Acrobat but keep everything on the page from rotating with it?
I made a very complex form, but have decided it would be best to have it as a portrait instead of landscape.
Of course, when I rotate it, everything on the form is turned sideways.

Assuming that you created the form fields in Acrobat and those were just imposed on top of a document that you created from another application you might try these steps:
    1. Create a new PDF in landscape from the original document.
    2. Copy the form fields from the previous document to the new document.
    3. Move the fields to the proper locations.
At least I think this has a chance of working. You might give it a try on a single page or such.

  • How do you keep text box formatting data after saving and closing a PDF? (Acrobat XI)

I love that Acrobat XI has the feature "Edit Text & Images". It saves me and my company time when modifying PDFs for our clients. Though I am having some formatting woes...
When I insert a new text box into the document, I can span the entire text box from top to bottom of the page. I can type whatever I want in it and it makes it simple for editing later. Though, when I save the document, close it, and reopen it, all the text that was in one huge text box is broken out into multiple text boxes (per line of text). This makes it a pain to do any edits to the document because the text overlaps and does not wrap (different text boxes over one another). How can I stop this from happening? Is there a way to combine multiple text boxes maybe? What is the best solution to this issue? (running trial version of Acrobat XI on Win7 64-bit)

Why we have chosen not to use comments is due to the how jumbled they become on a page. We are basically going back and putting detailed annotations/footnotes (with numbered markers) to identify what portion of the page the functionality lives/exist. Comments also sometimes close so you cannot find them very easily...
I have just figured out with this form text field solution, I can't use underlined text...sigh...
Update: Figured out the underlined text, CTRL+I

  • How do you edit text that is in a text box?

How do you edit text that is in a text box?  I just want to change the font color of the text.  Solution in the Help files recommends selecting the text and then selecting Optional) To make further changes to the text box:
Using the Select tool or the Text Box tool, click an edge of the text box to select it, and then drag a corner to resize it. Use the Properties toolbar to change the border and fill options.
Double-click the text box to edit the text or change the text attributes. Drag across text to select it, and then select options from the Properties toolbar.
This is what the help files recommend
(Optional) To make further changes to the text box:
Using the Select tool or the Text Box tool, click an edge of the text box to select it, and then drag a corner to resize it. Use the Properties toolbar to change the border and fill options.
Double-click the text box to edit the text or change the text attributes. Drag across text to select it, and then select options from the Properties toolbar.
When I try the above solution I don't have a  "Options" in the "Properties" toolbar.
Why would they change a process that was so simple in previous editions to such a hidden awkward process?

Try with a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer and/or changing the blending mode.
If the effect is too much for the rest of the bulb, you may be able to mask it out.
It would help if you post a representative picture here on the forum page for us to look at.

  • How do you highlight text in document in Pages

How do you highlight text in document in Pages

but Pages is NOT a 3rd party app.  it's an application that's programmed by apple.  it's supposed to act something like Word in MS office, but that is not at all true.
choices for editing text, highlighting, et al., like what you find in MS Office Word, should be immediately available whenever you are inside of a Pages document, but that is not the case.
don't you wish that when you buy an apple app for apple/macs that is supposed to be like a windows something or another that it really is?

  • How to align text at the top and bottom of a cell?

I'm making a periodic table and need help with aligning text at the top and bottom of a cell. I'll have a picture in the middle of the cell with text above and below the pic. Thank you in advance for any kind of suggestions you can give me.

It sounds as though you want to have 3 separate items inside of a single cell; text at the top of the cell, text at the bottom of the cell, and then a picture in the middle of the cell.  I am no expert, but to my knowledge that is not possible (someone please correct me if I am wrong.)  I also cannot figure out how to put a picture inside of a cell itself.
I do have a way to accomplish the end result so long as what you need is the final look and not a useable table in numbers.
Create 2-3 cells for each element.  (The middle cell, unless you can put pictures in a cell and I don't know, would just be there for peace of mind, but would hold the picture if you can, I would just do two if the pictures are to be in front of the cell anyway.)  The top cell align text to top on the Text tab of the inspector.  The bottom cell, align text to bottom on the same tab.  Then place the picture in the middle.  Now, you have what you want except there is one or two lines dividing the cells.  To get rid of this, either click the middle cell if you have one, or the top or bottom cell.  Click on the Cell tab of the inspector.  Select the bottom border and/or top border button and select "No Border" under border styles.  To make this fast, select a full row at a time, or use command click to select all of the same type of rows (middle, top, or bottom) and change all cells at once.
I hope this helps.  Best of luck!

  • How do you center text in a JOptionPane?

How do you center text in a JOptionPane?
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"File(s) Moved Successfully","Finished", JOptionPane.PLAIN_MESSAGE);

Instead of adding the string "File(s)...", create a
JPanel. Add your text as a JLabel to this JPanel
using the appropriate LayoutManager. Now add the
JPanel in place of "File(s)..." in the
showMesageDialog call.Or just use a JLabel, set its alignment to center and add the label instead of the string.

  • How do you rotate a pdf document in preview?

There is a book where the double pages are turned. How do you rotate them so that you can read them in preview?

    There are three ways.
    1. If you have a toolbar on your page (opened by clicking the gray oval in the upper right hand corner) you should see the 'Rotate' option there (it's blue).
    2. Click Tools in the Menu Bar. Rotate left and Rotate right are there.
    3. Command L for Left, Command R for right.
Rotate until they face the right way. You should be able to save the changes in orientation.
