How do you separate iTunes accounts?
I tried to set up an Apple ID account for my younger sister but when I was finished our accounts were the same. Whatever I purchased ended up in her library as well as mine. How to I fix this?

You can hold Option when starting iTunes to switch libraries and you can change the Apple ID account on your iOS devices from Settings > iTunes & App Store.

Totally confused on how to keep separate itunes accounts on one computer
Our troubles started several years ago when we added in another iphone into the mix. Currently, we have 2 iphones and 1 ipod sharing one macbook. I thought that we each had our own Apple ID accounts set up and that I also had separate libraries set up on our Macbook (we each have different account names) but when ever my husband or I make a change to our itunes library it happens to both of them. When I went through his phone, it seemed as though he had my ***@yahoo.com account as the one he was signed into under Settings/iTunes & App Store. So I signed my Apple ID out and signed him in using his ****@me.com Apple ID but then it automatically reverts back to my ***@yahoo.com Apple ID. We both use the same ****@yahoo.com email address for our primary email - is this part of the problem?
Can someone please explain to me how to essentially start over and ensure that we have totally separate - non connected - Apple IDs/iTunes Libraries?

Copy the unzipped/extracted BIOS files (P11.B3) that you just downloaded to a USB flash drive. (I always quick format the USB flash drive to fat32 before I copy the files to it, but not sure if that's necessary.)Open an admin command promptIf your flash drive has a drive letter of F you would typeF:cd winflash So it would look like this: F:\win>flash After its flashed, then you go in to BIOS settings and load defaults F9 and then save and exit F10. My instructions are abbreviated, so make sure you read the instructions (README) instead of following mine....in case I missed anything. If your computer came with P11.xx then you must use P11.xx. You can't use P21 versions.The L versions are for Linux....not Windows. Edit: You can flash to P11.B3 if your current BIOS is P11.A4

You can share an AppleID between individuals for purchases from iTunes (music, movies, TV shows, books, etc.) while each having an individual iCloud account for syncing your personal calendar, contacts and iCloud files.
In my household......
We have a single AppleID for iTunes purchases which is used on all 8 of our iOS devics and 3 computers. That way all apps purchased from the Mac or iOS app stores or content from iTunes can be used on any device.
Each of us (3 of us) then has our own iCloud account. None of our iCloud accounts are the same as the AppleID. The iCloud accounts are used for device backups, contact and calendar syncing, iCloud document files and photostream.
This way, we all share apps and media, but our contacts and calendars are not mixed and neither are our documents. Each person having their own iCloud account also helps with space when dealing with device backups. -

I have two separate itune accounts under two different email accounts and would like to combine them under one account. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it?
If you go to Settings > iTunes & AppStore , you can sign out from your account, and sign in with the one you've used to purchase apps.This will not remove any apps you already have on it.
Then you can go to AppStore and download apps you've purchased (either via "Purchased" button in "Updates", or simply search for them and download them.
That way you can have multiple accounts' apps on your iPad. When updating, you will be prompted for the credentials for account you've purchased given App with. -

I want to be able to transfer my apps from my original itunes account that I have on my personal iphone 3 and work ipad 3 to my work iphone 4S ,as well as purchase more more apps for the work iphone with the original itunes account. Depends on what you trying to setup but for purchases, you can roll down at the very end of the iTunes/AppStore pages to logout of your current account and then login into a different one. Then your purchase will be billded to this new account. Everything will sync as you used to but in order to use the purchased content in iTunes or other devices, you will need to authorize them (you can have up to 5 devices authorized for an account). -

Hello, thank you for your prompt answer. I did have an idea that Home sharing might be the answer but could not quite figure out how to do it. I have enabled home sharing in my iTunes account, put in username and password, clicked on creat etc. But the homs sharing icon doew not appear in the left side of iTunes. So I got stuck. Are you meaning 2 different accounts or 2 different libraries?
Launch iTunes with the 'Option' key held down and follow the dialog as to which library you want to open.

Thank you for your reply Domingo. Your suggestion worked as far as sending me a link to buy the book at iTunes. But it did not allow me to download the book from my wife's account. I did finally get an answer from Apple. It took an entire day of emailing back and forth and the final answer was relatively easy once Apple finally decided to give up the solution. Basically, you have to open ibooks and sign out. Then you have to sign into ibooks using the book purchaser's Apple ID and password. Then you can download the book onto your device. Not too bad, huh? It only took a whole day of Apple people sending me wrong instructions before they figured it out. Geez. What a disappointing experience.

It may be same computer but if a new, empty, library has been created then it is not the same library your device was synced with...
For general library squiffiness following an upgrade or crash the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup! For example grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes regardless of drive letter or path.
