I would like to set security on my IPad that prevents access to inappropriate sites. I know how to Pass Code protect the entire IPad, but I want to prevent anyone accessing anything inappropriate.

Other options not covered in the article:
1) You can plug both in under the same computer username and same iTunes Apple ID and give each device it's own name. You should be able to manage them as separate devices with different media, apps and screen layouts. All of your media would be in a common pool, though.
2) Under one computer username, you can login and logout of two different iTunes Apple IDs. This option is cleaner with two computer usernames but it can be done with one.

They both have icloud.com accts., I tried adding their icloud emails but they would not verify. I want us all to use the same iTunes account but have separate face time and email and the iMessage. This is why I did separate iCloud account so we would all have storage and Still be able to use my iTunes account For music and books. You'll find your notes under Mail in iCloud. There's a separate folder on the left that's labeled notes so you can access them anywhere. And your me.com account will have the same password as your Apple ID (in fact, you can log into iCloud with just your Apple ID, as the two accounts are permanently linked).

The only way to reliably protect data, especially on an external hard drive, is to encrypt it. Permissions don't have to be respected. One way to encrypt data is to create an encrypted sparse bundle disk image with Disk Utility. See:

when i activated the account i ticked the upgrade button, should i have ticked the new account button?
anyway, when i do what you say (below) there is not a manage "Accounts button" so i went to reactive it again ( for a new account) and is says that the activation key is all ready in use.
Denis, go to www.mac.com and sign into your account. Click on the word "Account" at the top of the left hand column. You will need to sign in again for security purposes. Once your account settings show up, click on the "Manage Accounts" button and you can take care of everything.

You need an IMAP-type email service rather than a POP-type mail service. IMAP automatically does what you want. Contact your email provider to see if they offer IMAP.

No you do not need separate Apple ID's in order to use 3 devices with one Apple ID. I use 4 devices to Message and FaceTime and all use the same Apple ID. You do need to add additional email addresses for the other devices.

Simple answer: no, you can't use that remote with the iPad.
The Camera Connection Kit (CCK) is only for importing pictures. It is not a general purpose USB port so will not work with just any USB device, other than cameras and USB flash drives (but only to import pictures.)

I have the HP D110 AirPrint printer. As I recall, it was configured in Ad Hoc network mode when first received. It was necessary to set it up to access my WiFi router before I could use it with the internet connection. Then, as part of the setup process, it downloaded the latest firmware update from HP. This was all done from the printer control panel, and no PC was needed.
As Pvonk mentioned, your router must be able to correctly handle Bonjour data for iPad to print to an AirPrint printer. Go ahead and try it, it may work. If the iPad can't find the printer, you will need to contact Verizon for help in configuring the router or getting a different router that is compatible.
By now, you should realize that a PC is needed to update the iPad. I assume your Dad visits you when he needs use of a PC.
