Netscape use to let me choose and create new profiles. after clicking on the icon for netscape i was prompted for which user profile i wanted. can i do this with firefox? also, each user profile was linked with its respective email account. can i do this through firefox as well? I need help. i have tried setting up firefox before and since i couldn't accomplish this i had given up but netscape is so old and most sites cause it to crash, i need a solution. i have 2 main profiles and 2 different email addresses. any advice or help, even not firefox related would be great

Firefox doesn't have the same type of interface for the Profile Manager that Netscape did. You might want to look at SeaMonkey ''(which uses the same Mozilla Gecko code as Firefox has)''.

I have tried to set my other macs on time capsule using time machine as the backup device. All I get is the error message "there is a problem connecting ot the server.... Check the server name and ip address. This is supposed to be easy, so how do I set the other computers up?

Whether or not this is possible will depend on the type of modem that you are using with the Time Capsule.
If you have a simple modem (with only one Ethernet port), you can likely set up the Guest Network feature. If you have a modem/router (it will have multiple Ethernet ports), unfortunately, it is not possible to set up the Guest feature and have the Time Capsule operate correctly.

I doubt you will have confusion.. if they have different names.. then network wise they will be fine.
ie You set up your TC named TCTom / TCJulia.. and the other person has his/her TCHarry / TCHarriet.. then clearly they are different..
You can have wireless issues though. If they connect via the same network.. then use ethernet and turn off wireless. Or make a pact and share wireless on one. ie the TC can be plugged into each other.. but wireless only working on one.. they will both be equally accessible and work equally well.

I'm sure this question has been answered before. I run a small graphic design business from my home. Occassionly clients want to send me files and ask if I have an FTP site they can upload to. I recently purchased an NAS enclosure and added a 250 GB HD in it. It's hook up to a Linksys router. I can attach to it using the GO menu using "smb://STORAGE". It appears on the desktop. I have Comcast as my broadband service with a dynamic DNS. I have 2 folders on it, one password protected and the other a Public folder. I would like someone to be able to access the Public folder and upload and download files on it. Would someone be able to explain, in simple terms, how to set this up.

Well you actually need to have an ftp server running somewhere. I dont know (although i doubt it does) if your NAS has an embedded FTP or SFTP server. If it dosent youll actuall have to have people connect to one of your servers/workstations that has FTP enabled.
First youll need to log in to your router's admin panel and forward port 21 to the server/workstation that will function as the ftp server.
Then set up the mount for the NAS device at large or one of the specific folders on it with sharepoints or something on the mac that will act as the ftp server.
Set up a user as a FTP only user. Youll probably want to make this user only have FTP access (you can google or consult other threads in these forums for this procedure).
In this users home folder make symlinks to the shares with the command line:
cd pathto_ftpusers_homedir
ln -s /Volumes/NAS_Sharepoint NameOfFolderUserWillSee
Then create the file /etc/ftpchroot which will contain a list of users that will be limited to thier home directory when using ftp. i would use a command line text editor to do this (pico, vi, emacs... choose your poison).
the file should simply be a list of user shortnames, 1 per line.
Thats the basics of it. You can get more complicated and might indeed need to set up permissions and what not properly (youll probably want to use ACLS so you dont have to constantly change permissions or login as another user to access files that have been uploaded)but that should get you started i think.

When I try to send multiple attacks within a second playing Travian, it is impossible because it is too slow to confirm "resend information" on each tab, and it also takes too long to move from one tab to another. In Safari I had an icon on the toolbar "open in dashboard" so a selected part of a webpage would open in my macbook-dashboard. How can I do this with Firefox?

The "open in dashboard" button in Safari allows me to make my own widget for the macbook dashboard. The widgets I am using are parts of webpages that would update regularly. Is there an equivalent in Firefox?

Do you have multiple monitors by any chance? If so, can you set the monitor where you want Firefox to "primary"?
If this problem persists -- in other words, if Firefox stops saving the new position of its window(s) correctly between sessions -- the settings file that stores the last window position may be corrupted. You could try removing that file and let Firefox use its default sizing and positioning. Note: this also will default some toolbar customizations.

The developer says it must run under the Java Console and that I cannot run more than one copy of it in a given browser technology (e.g., Firefox); but I can run multiple copies if I use, eg, Firefox for one, IE 32 bit for another, Chrome for a 3rd and IE 64 bit for a 4th. I have tested this, and this does work.
Why would it not be the case if I spawned a completely different Firefox instance/process? When asked this question, the developer said, no, you have to run a different browser implementation to get a distinct Java Console for each one.
Does this make sense in general, or, more importantly, is it true for Firefox?

I have a block of 8 fixed IP address, 5 are useable for websites. I have a netopia router and I would like my server to be able to host several different sites using a secure server. I know you can only host one secure site for one fixed IP address. I have been using one IP address and hosting virtual domains up to now. I don't know how to set the router and the server up to make this work. Everything I have tried has failed. I have tried IP mapping and passthrough but I can only make one IP address work. Not multiple. Any advise would be appreciated.

Since you're looking to host multiple SSL sites, no matter what you do you're going to need to setup multiple IP addresses on your server.
I would NOT recommend running the server at your edge - there are valid reasons for using firewalls and NAT devices. Instead, configure your server with multiple private IP addresses (192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x, whatever you prefer).
Then, in Server Admin, configure your SSL web sites. Bind each one to a specific IP address.
This is different from your non-SSL web sites, which presumably have 'any' as their IP address.
Then setup your Netopia router to port-forward port 443 on each public IP address to the corresponding private IP address on the server.

How do you set-up multiple NT Auth servers per Domain, but one per role

I have a domain with three roles. These roles correspond to subsidiaries of our company, each with their own NT Auth Server. Shouldn't I be able to put in the NT information at the role level and not in the code for the iwtLoginChannel or on the domain Auth pages?
What happens is I cannot authenticate any if I try this. If I try with the Host listed in the HTML for the iwtLoginChannel it works fine.

Roles are used to assign a set of attributes (such as setting user preferences for different applications/channels) to a group of authentication authenticated users. Hence, it is not possible to assign a role, before the user is authenticated.
A solution to your problem is to assign different NT Domain users to different iPS domains as iPS domains are identified using the Gateway URIs.

on my ipad when I set up email accounts, i can enter multiple addresses in the Email field, separated by a comma, which is located on the keyboard far right, second symbol screen.
On my iphone 5 there's NO COMMA that I can find on any of the three Keyboard screens when you're in the Email field.
What's up with that?

Beth, I ran into the same issue.
What I did was this:
(1) Go into the Note app and enter your comma-delimited list of email addresses.
(2) Copy the list and paste it into the Mail settings where you tried to enter it.
It works fine that way.
Note however that if you are using the default Gmail settings there isn't a separate field for your email address and username - they are the same. So you will get an error when you try to save. However, if you use the manual setup where there are separate fields for username and email address this will work.
You can even add the extra email addresses to another non-Gmail account and when you try to send you can select the alternate email address.
