How do you set up port forwarding on an IPad 3 4g connection?

Please let me know how to set up port forwarding on the iPad to point an outside port to one of the devices connected to my iPad hotspot. Thanks.

I'm not sure if the 5.4.1 version that you have will do what you want. Did you mean to say that you had installed the 5.6.1 version?
Sorry, I do not have a PC here handy to test, so you will need to wait for another PC user who can give you step by step instructions.

  • How do you set up Port Forwarding for ARD 2.2 in AEB N?

    Help,
I'm a novice at Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) - not an IT guy, so it has to be pretty basic and detailed.
How do you set up Port Forwarding for ARD 2.2 on the Apple Airport Extreme BS router, 802.11 N. I have one at each end of the internet connection. At one end I have an Airport Extreme N router with 2 macs and eventually 1 windows XP machine (if I can) that I would like to be able to connect to over the interenet (the clients) and at the other end, I have a Mac with ARD 2.2 installed also with an Airport Extreme N router. Note: Both routers use Static IP addresses and all computers use static IP's internally not through DHCP. What are the settings or directions to do this.
I have read and printed out the directions for Configuration of ARD 3.0 that are posted many times in the ARD discusion group, but it uses a Linksys router ( http://www.starkpr.com/ard.htm posted by Dave Sawyer). The Mac router is different, particularly with the place to set a Private IP address. I'm not sure about alot of things, but especially about the Private IP address, what number do I set it to, the one that is in my Network connections list? It automatically changes to a different number in AE N setup for Port Forwarding (by one) as if it is not suppose to the same?????
Are there any directions available that are as straight forward for the Airport Extreme N router, as the one's that are listed here for the Linksys Router's? ( http://www.starkpr.com/ard.htm )
Any and All help will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I know I should have 3.0 but bought 2.2 just weeks before 3.0 came out and they would not give me an upgrade price, so I'm waiting for 4.0 to upgrade.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Try the following for each AirPort Extreme ...
    AEBSn - Port Mapping Setup
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.
    Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>

  • How do I set the port number on my Ipad

I need to find out how to set the port number on my IPad to use Telus Email which will receive but not send

You will not be able to send any mail until you tell it the outgoing mail server.
How did you learn about the port number?  If you google your isp and the words mail settings, you will likely find a page with all of the needed settings, including the outgoing server name, and a confimation of the port needed.
Once you know those two answers, go to the setting screen, and touch the outgoing server field, and you will be able to enter the name.  Spell it right. Then touch the advance tab, then, the port number, and enter the proper port number.
If you get those entries right, you should be all set.

I've purchased a NAS (Synology DS211j with 2 caviar HD) over a month ago. Setting up the NAS for wireless connection locally was easy. I've been trying for 3 weeks on how to set-up port forwarding on my airport extreme base. • How do I configure for port forwarding?

I just relpaced my CISCO E3000 wireless router with an Apple Airport Extreme and need to set up port forwarding.  I find the Airport Utility confusing and very limited in capabilities.  How do I configure the router for Port Forwarding?

Here's a document that you can follow:  https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3415
However, I ran into an issue with setting this up and had to do a work-around: Custom Port Forwarding Config Not Working

  • I have the new Air Port Extreeme model A1521 and I need to set up port forwarding for HTTP. HTTP is not on the list in the set up. Does anyone know if any of those choices work for HTTP?

I am on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC and right now there is no Airport utility for setting up the new Apple Extreme so you have to do it on your iPad or iPhone. Does anyone know how to set up port forwarding for HTTP to get to DVR security cameras? There is nothing in the list that indicates HTTP port forwarding.

Thanks for your reply Tesserax as I did figure this out on my own. It took a bit because all of the options are not clear what they are for like the previous Airport Extreme and Apple does not support or guarantee that port forwarding will work for you application nor did any of the Apple support persons I spoke too have any knowledge for this feature. You also have to fill in the public if you are viewing through someone else's Wi-Fi or on your cell phone carrier network. This new Airport Extreme is a bit different since you cannot use the Airport utility on a PC like the older model and if anyone else is reading this they should be aware that if you do not have an Apple computer, iPhone or iPad and I'm not sure if some of the other network enabled devices like iPod Touch that you must use that can do it, there is no Airport utility for the PC and you would be wasting your money or have to take it back and get another brand wireless router to use if you do not own any of the above mentioned Apple products.

  • VNC without access to set up port forwarding

I just bought the VNC Viewer app for my iPhone 4 and got it to work over 3G and wifi with my macbook pro connected to my home network. I know very little about networking but I knew enough to be able to set up port forwarding to my ip on my router at home. The problem is that I am a student in college right now, so my computer will be hooked up to the schools network when winter break is over. I have no access to set anything up on the network at school, so how will I get this to work? I made a host name at no-ip (does that allow me to connect to my computer even when my ip changes?), and I read something about being able to set up an ssh tunnel to make it work...maybe? I now have no idea what to do and the other forums I've read about this topic are using language that I am not familiar with. I need some network education! Again, the problem is setting up my MacBook Pro to allow a VNC connection on a network I have no control over. Thanks!

My suggestion is using TeamViewer.com (they have both a Mac and an iPhone app) and it is free for personal use.
Team viewer has the ability to work across routers and corporate firewalls.
The problem with ssh is that it also needs port forwarding the same as VNC. You could have your Mac at college ssh to a Mac at home, setting up a reverse tunnel (ssh -R). You then VNC to the Mac at home, and instead of attaching to a VNC server at home, you connect to the ssh tunnel listening for connections. You would have to always have the tunnel established from your college Mac to a home Mac (or it could be a Linux box at home). And at home you would also need to port forward port 22 so your college Mac and ssh into your home Mac.
It might be an interesting exercise, but I think you would be happier using TeamViewer.com

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

  • How do you set up usb device (remote for ppt) to work with iPad2

How do you set up a USB Device (a remote) to work with an iPad 2?  I have the digital camera connector but when I plug the remote in, the device is not recognizable.  We are trying to run a slideshow on the iPad using the remote to advance the slides.  Thus, the viewer does not have to swipe to advance to the next slide.

...I have the digital camera connector...
Simple answer: no, you can't use that remote with the iPad.
The Camera Connection Kit (CCK) is only for importing pictures.  It is not a general purpose USB port so will not work with just any USB device, other than cameras and USB flash drives (but only to import pictures.)

  • How do you set up the passkey between the Mac & Palm?

    Hi all,
    I need help with a couple of things relating to bluetooth and Mac;
    a) when I try to HotSync the Palm TX and iBook(OS 10.3.9) using BT, I get an error message saying "can't initiate Hotsync because port is in use by another application'.
    b) how do you set up the passkey between the Mac & Palm? I can't work out how to input anything on the Palm at the step where it asks for the passkey.
    thanks
    iBook 1.2GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Palm has this to say about the issue:
'Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application.'
This error can occur on the Palm™ Zire™ 72 handheld after setting up a Bluetooth® HotSync® connection. When you configure the Bluetooth application on the handheld for synchronization (or when you set up a Bluetooth connection in the Connections preference screen), the HotSync button in the Writing Area may try to launch a Bluetooth connection, regardless of the connection selected in the HotSync application on your handheld. The HotSync icon in the Writing Area will always try to connect using whatever method was last used. When you set up Bluetooth HotSync, it used Bluetooth, and now tapping the icon in the Writing Area will result in a Bluetooth connection.
The issue arises if you launch the HotSync application on your handheld, and select the "Cradle/Cable" option from the pulldown menu, and then tap on the HotSync icon in the Writing Area. Your handheld will still try to perform a Bluetooth HotSync operation, because that was the method last used. You will see an error message, and won't be able to synchronize.
Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application.
    Why does this happen?
Because your handheld was set up for Bluetooth, tapping the HotSync icon in the Writing Area should launch a Bluetooth HotSync. But if you select a different method in the HotSync application, your handheld will try to connect using that method as well. The HotSync application is unsure which method to use, and you will see the error message.
    What should I do?
If you see this error, here's how to correct the issue:
    1. Launch the HotSync application on your handheld.
    2. In the pulldown menu at the center of the screen, choose the connection method by which you wish to synchronize.
    3. Then, instead of tapping the HotSync icon in the Writing Area, tap the large onscreen HotSync icon in the middle of the HotSync application screen.
    4. Do this every time you wish to synchronize using Cable/Cradle.
    5. Whenever you want to synchronize using Bluetooth, exit the HotSync application and tap the HotSync icon in the Writing Area.
    6. This will allow you to keep multiple connection methods for synchronization, and the flexibility of alternating between them.
For more information on such issues, perform a keyword search here, in the Palm Macintosh Support area:

  • Set up Port Forwarding?

Is it possible to set up port forwarding directly on an iMac?

I would rather avoid buying a router, or airport exteme, if I could.

You can't avoid buying a router. Every home or business network should be behind a NAT router of some type.

  • CS6 How do you set form font

We have a diary type form that needs to be in Helvetica
Just tried to set up in CS6 and can't see where to set the font - text boxes default to times
How do you set the font in Indesign's new PDF form creation tool text boxes?
    tia

For me, the first answer here gave the most important element of information.
When Bob said "Does it occur to you that perhaps they just didn’t have time to get all of this in?"... Well yes, it sure did occur to me! And my reply to this would be: "What if they had taken a little more time and made sure they'd managed to have a function that is a little more complete before releasing the newer version?".
This has been my main issue with any company that releases products on an (almost) yearly basis: OBVIOUSLY they won't have time to complete everything!
Maybe, I'm only saying maybe, Adobe could have waited a liiiiitle bit longer and provided a finished product. Now of course, people will always have a new feature in mind, or a genius idea that they'd like to see happen in a program.
I also know that the high management would have been pushing for everything to be ready "on time", but then if you know you won't finish it, leave it out!
I was also very much looking forward to the new feature in InDesign as I have to make multiple copies of the same form translated into various languages.
And I had the very same problem as jahallaa, but with our French versions of these PDF forms.
So, yes, having the option to create the form in InDesign is a great for most of it. Fortunately, the font choice for our forms isn't all that important for me, in this specific case, so it wouldn't matter which font is used IF only it would understand accentuated letters properly.
Also, reading several times that "the Acrobat team didn't provide all the codes to the InDesign team" leaves me a little perplexed... If they are not going to get a complete code, then maybe, once more, they should wait until they get the complete thing. Now, of course, I don't know why the code would be provide incomplete, whether it's competition between the teams, security or plain weirdness but still... If you're going to implement a feature, make sure it fills in the major bullet points! If it doesn't, well give the marketing a rest and wait for the next release!
Now after saying all this... When our files are translated, they have to be converted into an IDML file to be compatible with our translation tool. I then have to reimport them into InDesign to finalise them, once translated.
Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure they will lose the forms function in the process, seen that this function didn't exist in CS 5 or 5.5 and that the IDML file loses any function that is not downcompatible.
Dammit!! I'll now have to fiddle around with 2 files and import layers and such...
    Ah well... Sorry, rant's over!
