How do you setup the Mail app with iCloud on an eMac?

I have recently made an iCloud account on my iPad- includng a free "@me.com" email address, which I've been longing for! I do, however, have the old Apple eMac and would like to set up my "@me.com" email address. When I go to set it up, there is (on the pull down menu) ".Mac", which did not work, "IMAP", and "POP". I know iCloud cannot use "POP", so is there any way to do "IMAP" and how? Please help!

For some reason, it won't connect to SMTP. I can get emails, but I can't write any. You said to do each port, but there is nothing asking for each port. I need help with the Mail application for Mac OS X v. 10.4.11 (Tiger). Can you help? The attached pics are the steps I've done...

You are not saying which Pages you have on the iMac but I presume you Pages 5. To add a period you use the keyboards key for a period. A Mac is not an iPad. They behave differently. Autocaps doesn't exist in Pages 5 but did in Pages 09 and Pages 08.

How do you use the bluetooth VIs with a Microsoft Bluetooth Driver?

How do you use the LabVIEW Bluetooth VIs with the Microsoft Bluetooth driver? I have been trying with no such luck.
   I want to use 2 computers to talk to each other using the bluetooth VIs.  Eventually, I think we would like a PDA/phone to talk to a custom built electronics board with Bluetooth. But for now, I would just like 2 computers to talk and then eventually talk to our own device.
One is a desktop w/ the Belkin F8T012 USB adapter. It installs fine with the Belkin driver (but I know I need to use the Microsoft Driver in order to use the LabVIEW VIs, but I have tried to get Windows to install its own but it says it is a BCM92045DG-Flash. It says it cannot install it because it cannot find the necessary hardware. I thought this USB adapter was on the approved Bluetooth devices list? What else should I try? Another Bluetooth USB adapter?
The other computer is a Dell Latitude 820. It has a built in Bluetooth module which I believe is the Dell 350 Bluetooth Module. On this machine I have been able to setup a COM port with a bluetooth device (blood glucose meter). It came with a serial port interface which we modifed to go through a bluetooth interface. It comes up as COM40. We have been able to communicate to it using their program originally designed to talk through a serial port. But we would like to use the Bluetooth VIs in LabVIEW. I can't even use the Discover VI.  Perhaps it is not using the Microsoft Driver as well. Do I just uninstall the driver and then try to have Windows install its own driver? Do you have any other recommendations?

Hi Javi,
This sounds like an issue with Windows and your specific Bluetooth devices. As you mentioned, the LV Bluetooth VI's do require that the devices use the Windows drivers. Take a look at this link for specific requirements for using Bluetooth with LabVIEW. Also, you can take a look at our Developer Zone tutorial on designing Bluetooth applications a found here. Regarding your device drivers, sometimes it is as easy as uninstalling the driver and then letting Windows discover the device and fine its own driver. Mail app on iPad2 crashed after trying to send doc from goodnotes. How can i restore the mail app?

Hi, I have a problem with my mail app: after exporting a rather big pdf (10mb) from GoodNotes to email (which tried to open an email in the built-in mail app, the mail app crased and only shows a white screenwhen opening it. Settings for the mail app does not respond either and every app that tries to open an email (e.g. Goodnotes, or browser opening a mailTo link, freezes when trying to open a mail. As mail is a built in app, i can also not delete it ... Anybody has a hint for me? Many thanks for your help!! Greets Sven

First of all quit the mail app and all of the apps that have frozen. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the mail app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Close the other apps the same way. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
What I would try next is to delete the email on the server in your web mail account using Safari or another browser. Then when you go back to the mail app - if it opens ok - and the if mesaage is still there in the inbox - swipe on the mesaage - left to right - in the list on the left side - and hopefully the red delete button will pop up. Hit delete to remove it from the inbox. Do the same thing when you go to your trash folder in that email account - swipe the message to delete it.

How to you stop the new Health App from running in the background? Its its always running collecting data on how many steps I have taken and how far I have walked.. I walked 12000 steps and travelled 4.1km DRIVING my kids to school this morning according to the app.

I never intend to use the health app because I do not need an app on my phone to help me live a healthy lifestyle. Therefore I find it intrusive there is no way to stop it from tracking my steps or whatever else it may be doing. I found a way to force the app to crash and maybe this will stop it from running in the background. Open the app, tap "Health Data" at the bottom of the screen, tap "Fitness" then "Steps" and tap "Add Data" type in a huge number - a very huge number with 30 or more characters, you can even add more than 1 decimal point. Repeat this for "walking + Running Distance". From this point forward the app will crash when you try to look at the data. Maye this prevents it from recording new data, I'm not sure but I really like the fact the app crashes. Hopefully Apple will add a feature to allow us to turn off data collection altogether or even better, allow us to delete this app.

How can I disable the Mail app completely?

Hi, I have an iMac running OS X v. 10.5.6 and do not want to go through the Mail app for my e-mail. I never opened the program on my own, but the app keeps opening on its own and asking for me to set it up. I tried to set it to manual opening, but it would still pop up on a daily basis.
At one point, I logged in using an old Yahoo account, thinking that this would solve the problem, but it still opened up on its own daily.
I've done everything in Preferences I can think of. I even tried removing the app completely, but I would get a pop-up asking where the Mail app went. When I brought it back, the same issues came up.
I have Mail v. 3.5. Help!

There are many good email applications available as alternatives to Apple's Mail.
My own preference is Eudora but Thunderbird looks pretty good too.
There is no obligation to use Apple's Mail.
I don't get any warnings telling me I have to do anything with it. I can't understand what these warnings would be.
Try opening the Mail application ---> preferences - and set the application to check for mail "manually" i.e. only when you tell it to. Which could be never.

Mail was working fine until an error came up that said the Home folder was full. I cleaned up the drive and have additional free space. I also removed the Envelope file as directed in another post. If the former, did you also remove the Mail.app preference file (com.apple.mail.plist) out of the Preferences folder at Home > Library > Preferences?

If your keyboard is already paired with another device that is in range then you must unpair it first (see page of the keyboard manual).

How do I delete the Mail App from my Mac computer?

Hello- I know the Mail App on my computer takes up space because it downloads all of the mail you have stored- online I use Gmail.
An Apple store tech deleted the content a long time ago but he told never to touch the App again or else everything would load back up.
Unfortunately, I touched it again! My computer is now running out of space and I would like to delete the content of the Mail App again- besides, I never use it!

You might want to reconsider: simply do delete the emails, but it is generally not recommended to delete an application which was installed as part of the OS.
The reason you are getting the emails is because you have set up Mail to fetch your Gmail emails. If you want to open the Mail app and go to Preferences > Accounts, you should see your Gmail account listed - if it is, simply highlight it and click the "enable" to un-enable it. If you want to get rid of it forever, click the minus sign at the bottom. As long as Mail is not configured to fetch the emails, it will not do so.
