How do you share audiobooks on family sharing?

I am the organizer on our family sharing and I purchased an audiobook for my son hoping he could access and download it on his iPod touch.  But he cannot find it on his iPod.  Are audiobooks included in family sharing?  And how do you know whether something you purchase will be able to be shared or not?

Home sharing involves using the iTunes library on your computer.  If you open iTunes on your Mac you can see Audiobooks on the left sidebar under Library:
If you don't see the left sidebar, go to Vies>Show Sidebar.  If you can see the left sidebar but don't see Audiobooks, go to iTunes>Preferences and check Audiobooks in the Show section at the top of the General tab.
If you don't see your Audiobooks in your library after selecting Audiobooks on the left sidebar, connect the device that has the audiobook to your computer, then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer a copy to your iTunes library.  Once it's in your library, your can transfer a copy to other computers on your network using Home Sharing (see http://macmost.com/sharing-ios-apps-with-family.html).

  • How can you share audiobooks in family sharing?

We use Family Sharing in our family. But on the "purchase" items in iTunes on ipads and iphones there only appears Music, Films and TV Programmes. No Audiobooks. Did Apple just forget them or can I find them somewhere else?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download (which I think is a restriction set by audible.com who supply them to Apple) - you will need to sync/copy them onto each device or computer that you want them on, they won't show in the cloud for redownloading.

How do you remove someone from family sharing on iTunes?

On your device (I assume you are the organizer), go to SETTINGS -> iCloud -> Family.  Select the specific family member and then click Remove.

  • How do I share contacts with "Family Sharing"?

My wife and I had been sharing my iCloud account on 2 phones because we want our calendars and contacts synced. I'd rather use the Family Sharing, but it seems like it will not allow you to share contacts. Anyone know who we can do this without having to share the same iCloud account on 2 phones?
    Thanks!

I have the same issue more or less.
iMac contacts are set up to support us both, some contacts are common, some for each individual, separated by groups. Prior to iOS 8 shared my iCloud account to get contacts and iCal across iMac and two iPhones. Just tried family share, worked fine for iCal but did share contacts for wife's phone, who was an invited group member. I understand that Family Share does not work for this operation. That is a FAIL in my opinion if true. Deleted family share. Now back to one iCloud account. Issue with one account is that I get all of her "recents" showing up in mail and messages and now on the home screen. I would really like to have things more separated.  All ideas are welcome!
    Just read this:
My thinking is the the new Family Sharing is a FAIL and that following the advice of this article is still valid.

  • How can you share books with family members?

I purchased a book in iTunes and it's on my library shelf. How can I share this book with my sister?

If she has access to your Apple ID she can have your iBook on her device.  If she syncs to the same computer, just sync it to her device.  If she syncs to a different computer, copy the book from your iTunes library onto a flas drive (you'll find it on your hard drive in iTunes>iTunes Music>Books; it's an .epub file), then authorize your Apple ID on her computer (iTunes>Store>Authorize this Computer), then add the book to her library (iTunes>File>Add to Library) where she can sync it to her device.

OK, I just got off of the phone with Apple and still no joy. They had me try a few things that did not work, then told me to Archive and Install, which did not either. Anyway, thanks for the additional help very note worthy, but still no joy. Also an email to iTunes Support took me here

I have a Users/Shared folder but since the files we are talking about are invisible, I can see how it is structured.
And by the way I tried this one
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3577004#3577004
and it did not work. However, when I install a fresh copy of Tiger on the external it did authorize the computer and was able to play the downloads. But coping the invisible file to my boot drive was not successful. But , like I said the music did play when I started up from the external. So I guess that may be my only solution, unless someone can tell what the correct directory is and where it for iTunes downloads.

  • How to set-up and use FAMILY Sharing

Can someone please explain to me in detail how to set-up and use FAMILY Sharing, none of the information I have so far found in the documentation helps at all, in fact it puts you in a constant loop giving the same information over and over again
We have quite a few devices from ipads, iphones and ipods and I need to set-up Family Sharing.
We have our main Apple ID which is linked to our Payment method, I have now got my son a new iPad, I have created his Apple ID and set-up a link via FAMILY Sharing to our main Apple ID.
From what I read we should be able to share our purchased Apps between family members.
So I figured I would be able to get the Apps now via iTunes that are part of the FAMILY Sharing, however when I go into ITunes (latest version downloaded yesterday) I can only see the Home sharing menu item not FAMILY Sharing, so I cannot work out in Itunes how to get Apps that are FAMILY shared.  So ok I will try and get Apps directly via the Ipad using the App Store.  To test it is working I look for a known paid for App, I then go to download it and it is now asking me to pay for it again.
Can someone please explain to me in detail how FAMILY Sharing is supposed to work and how I get it to work please.
    Thanks for your help
    Greg

    Hey GregWr,
Thanks for the question. The following resources provides some of the best information regarding Family Sharing. Included, you’ll find information on making sure the accounts are set to "Share my purchases”, as well as information on downloading Family Member purchases from the iTunes Purchased section. • How do you share thousands of pictures with text and captions outside of PSE?  (PSE 4)

One of my dad’s retirement passions is family genealogy and old family pictures.  Several years ago I gave my family PSE 4.0 for Christmas so that we could each have backup copies of our dad’s pictures.  Usually once per year, I made backup copies of everything and emailed the DVDs to my brothers and sisters.  Everyone knows the basic PSE 4 functions and share our dad's enjoyment with the old family photos.
My problem is that my dad is running out of pictures to scan.  He wants to “share” or “show” his photos with others so that he can “borrow” their photo albums in order to scan their photos.  He plans to attend a hometown high school reunion later this fall.  He hopes to "collect" photo albums from cousins and classmates.  I have been struggling with this for several days without any good ideas.
The scanned pictures lack any text (added as a layer?) or captions.  Creating a slideshow (on my dad’s computer is slow).  Also, a slideshow doesn’t let others select individual pictures to save from the slide show
He has old pictures pre-PSE 4 that allowed him to add captions directly to the picture when it was scanned.  I never liked this approach as it "destroyed" the actual picture but these old pictures are more easily shared as individual pictures.
How do you share thousands of pictures with text and captions outside of PSE?  Can you save or export a composite picture with all the layers?
Thanks in advance for your help and replies.

I think it is one of the printer option screens that gives me the choice of tabbed 4x6. All of the choices specifiy HP or Other so I am pretty sure it is printer software that offers me this choice.
Make sure your image has a 4x6 aspect ratio. I have been quite happy with the tabbed 4x6. Just need to remember to load the paper with the tab last.
So, in elements you set to 4x6, in printer options you should be able to choose 4x6 tabbed paper.

  • How do you share Aperture file across multiple users on same Mac?

How do you share Aperture file across multiple users on same Mac? Seems this should be a preferences choice.

When you share your library between users, you may run into permission and ownership problems, if both users are editing the Aperture library and not only reading it. To avoid that, it helps to put the Aperture library onto a separate disk or a separate partion of your hard drive. For s separate partition or disk you can enable the "ignore ownership on this volume" flag. Then all users can access the library as owners of this library.
You might try to put the aperture library into a shared folder on your mac, but that has caused problems recently, i.e. when the library also contains video files.

  • How do you share a photo album?

OK I have a photo album in iPhoto.  How do you share that now that mobileMe is gone?  I want to be able to send a link to someone whether or not they have iCloud.
I tried making a shared photoStream album, and it sort of works.  I can't re-order the photos after they have gone up though.
What is worse is that when you go to the web site for the album, the photos are all automaticallyt cropped and laid-out into what is supposed to be an artful design, but which really just ruins any photos which are cropped to fit into squares.
Is there another way?  A way to at least disable that auto-layout?
    Thanks
    Bob

iCloud provides a simple gallery in the form of 'Photo Journal' - uploading of photos from iPhoto to web pages hosted on iCloud, but only from iOS devices; and the photos are compressed to a size adequate for online viewing but are not available in full resolution as with the old MobileMe Gallery. Apple have provided a sample album here.
    This page examines some alternatives:

  • Can I Share Playlists using Family Sharing?

Over the past 3 years, my wife and I used iTunes Match to resolve our content sharing issues with Apple.  For the most part, it's been great.  However, we have the same Apple ID for purchases.
We thought Family Sharing would take our shared iTunes media experience to the next level.  We've given it a try.  The good news: each of us can use our own Apple ID and share content via Family Sharing.  The bad news: My wife cannot see all of the playlists we've created under my ID and vice versa.
My guess is with Family Sharing a user can share actual media content only, e.g. songs, books, and apps but cannot share metadata items that live in each user's iTunes library, which is unique by the Apple User ID.
Am I right here?  Or is this simply a bug?  Anyone else experiencing this?
Thank you in advance for responses.

  • How do you share movies with another account?

My wife and I have separate iTunes accounts, and she wants to be able to see the videos I buy and vice versa. How do you share movies and t.v. shows through home sharing?

One of you creates/owns the calendar on iCloud.com and then they can click the sharing icon (tilted wi-fi circle) and choose "private" put the other person's appleID email address and give View & Edit capability.  Then you should be able to Join the calendar and both make edits/updates to it.
