How do you share library's with different accounts and different users

My family has lots of music and to save hours of time we want to share our music, is this possible? The only problem is, we each have different Apple ID's and our own computers.

Each device will ONLY sync what you select.
Just do not select the apps that you do not want.  Only select the apps that you do want.

  • How can I share my contacts with different users on my computer?

My wife and I want to share the contacts in our address book. Meaning, when she logs in, she has access to the same contents that I added while I was logged on. Is there an easy way to do this?

There's .Mac syncing which can be the easiest. If you and your wife have a .Mac account and share it you can use .Mac sycning to sync up your contacts on the both user accounts.

How do I share my playlists with other accounts/users on my Mac?

    Hello,
I have a similar question, which I posted 8perhaps inappropriately) in the Home Sharing discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17405588#17405588
The problem I have is that it simply doesn't work and the question I have is how you do not move the the iTunes Library file or the iTunes Library.xml file when they are actually in the folder you are told by the article to move in the first place.

  • How Do You Share A Superdrive with A Windows Machine?

    Hi
I'm used to being able to share DVD burning drives between Windows desktops e.g. if I want to back up some files on my Windows laptop, I can use the DVD burner in another Windows box.
How do I share the Superdrive in my iMac desktop machine?
    Thanks

  • How do you share same info on multiple account computer

Excuse what may be a simple or obvious question, but I'm new to this particular environment...
We're moving info from an older G4 computer to a new MacPro.
On the older G4 computer, we had just one account which all users accessed -- it was a very simple work setup. On the newer MacPro, all users will have their own account.
There is still certain info/data that all users will need to access, such as Address Book info, iPhoto photos, and iTune songs.
    1. After we set up the separate user accounts, what is the best way to set up the MacPro so that all users can access the same iTunes, iPhoto, Address Book, etc. data?
    2. For other files that an individual may be working on -- such as Word, inDesign, Excel, etc. -- how can one user best access another user's file.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Re: Sharing iPhoto...
For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • HT3819 How do I share downloaded tracks between different users on same mac?

Hello.  I bought my new Mac a couple of months ago.  I set it up with three different users, one for myself as admin, one for my wife, and one for our daughter, all on the same Mac. My wife and I both have our own Itunes account.  I spent a couple of days downloading almost all of our CDs into my Itunes library.  Now, I want to know how my wife and daughter can access these songs in their libraries so that they can put tracks on their Ipods.  So far, the only option that I have been able to see is the downloading of the CDs all over again into my wife's library.  Wouldn't this just make duplicate tracks on the Hard Drive?  If anyone can help, or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    It works for "initial sharing" but the described solution includes some drawbacks;
    - songs added under one account don't show "automatically" for other users
    - if added there is a copy of the song-file (* 2.mp3)
    - no "bulk" import withoud re-adding already present songs
Any workarounds for these problems known? 'caus I'm getting tired to keep the 3 iTune Libs of my girls in synch

  • How can I share my music with other account users

  • How do you share/backup photos with iPhoto 8?

In order to be able to view photos on any of our home computers, as well as for backup purposes, I had a script which whenever activated updated the Picture folders on each computer from the one that imported the pictures.
However, after having installed iLife 08 on two computers, that script is no longer effective. It seems that my entire photo library is now in one enormous file (I have 25k pictures). One would think I could replace that file on the secondary computers with the one from the primary, but that would involve a 50+GB replacement every time -- hours instead of minutes.
    Any sagely advise available??

Select the photo(s) and click share and share to the face book album you want

  • How do you share one iTunes with two phones but not get each other's apps when you sync?

My husband doesn't want to have the kid's apps or my apps download on his iphone when he syns to our one iTunes library....suggestions?

Each device will ONLY sync what you select.
Just do not select the apps that you do not want.  Only select the apps that you do want.

  • How will you share to idvd with the new iMovie software?

after i updated my iMovie, sharing to idvd is gone, how will i transfer my movie to a dvd now? I bought my macbook in early 2011, still have the dvd drive.

The apps in the multitaskbar should appear like pages on the whole display. To close them, just swipe from the bottom to the top. you can select single apps for closing, when you swipe them like you would swipe your homescreens.

  • How do you share iCloud Photos with a group

I have 8 people that I routinely share photos with in iCloud.  I have to manually add each person every time I create a new album.  Is there a way to create a group so I can simply add the group email and everyone will get notified?  I can create an email address on my server ([email protected]) and forward it to everyone's Apple ID, but that doesn't really work.  What if everyone added the address [email protected] as an alternate address in iCloud?  Would that work?

OS is Mavericks + server app

  • How do you share music between two iTunes accounts on one computer?

My wife and I share a Windows 7 laptop computer.  We have separate Windows logins and separate iTunes accounts.  When we had separate computers we were able to use Home Sharing to share our music but this doesn't work when you have two accounts on the same computer.
Is there a way to share our music libraries without wiping out what is already stored in our individual iTunes music libraries?

Click here and follow the instructions.

  • How can I share music between 2 different users on the same macbook pro?  Same apple ID on both is no good.

I shouldn't have to use "match" yet another thing to pay money for.  I've been reading other discussions and can't figure this out.

Home sharing is and was on in itunes in both users.  I get different music in each itunes but they are both logged in to the same apple ID.  I would have thought the exact same library would pop up.  Why woudl it be otherwise?  Strange.

  • How do you play the radio with an iPod and the docking station model RDP-M5iP

I purchased an iPod docking station model RDP-M5iP and I cannot play the radio.  It says to plug in the headphones for radio reception but that does nothing.  Is there any way to use the radio portion of the iPod with this model?

    Hello Roger,
    Welcome to Sony Community.
This Personal Audio Docking System does not have built in radio and it seems you are playing radio from the connected iPod and wish to get the audio from Docking System Speakers. You may try checking the radio reception in the iPod. Also, you may try to playback music in the iPod and check if audio is output from the Docking System Speakers.
